Buying children’s clothing can be a daunting and expensive task, especially when you’re on a budget. Smarty Pants Resale Boutique off Waco Drive near Jason’s Deli has you covered this back-to-school season.
The shop not only offers gently used clothing for 70 percent less than the retail price, but they also offer cash and store credit for trade-ins. So, if you’re looking to swap your child’s old wardrobe for a new one, Smarty Pants is the place for you.
The store stocks newborn sizes all the way up to a big kids’ size 20, as well as maternity clothes, baby gear and equipment.
“We just ask that clothing be freshly-laundered and lying flat in a Rubbermaid bin or a laundry basket,” said store owner, Leslie Engledow. “And we limit one bin per family, per day so we can get each buy done in a timely manner.”
If you’re looking to save even more during the tax-free weekend (Aug. 11-13), Smarty Pants is not only knocking off the taxes from their clothing items, but everything in their store. That means strollers, playhouses, trikes, slides, picnic tables, pack and plays, cribs, and much more will also be tax-free.
Not only will shopping at Smarty Pants help to lighten your financial burden, but it will also help to keep clothing out of landfills and declutter your home.
“Kids grow out of their clothing so quickly, and most of the time they’re not even worn out,” Engledow said. “Trading in your kids’ clothing is a great way to help someone else and put a little cash in your pocket.”
Smarty Pants is open every day except for Sunday. Buying hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and shopping hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Faith is a sweet and bubbly 11-year-old girl who enjoys hiking, kayaking, and swimming. She also enjoys gardening, and has experience planting vegetables and tending to plants. She is a “girly” girl at heart and enjoys listening to Jojo Siwa’s music, playing with LOL dolls, and playing make believe with her toys and friends. Faith also enjoys having her hair styled and her makeup done for a glamorous look. This nurturing girl also loves animals and would love the chance to have a dog in her forever home.
Faith will thrive in a family who is active and structured, with lots of space for her to play and explore. She will do best in a two-parent household with a family that is patient, understanding, and supportive.
