Right off Interstate-14, in the heart of Killeen, is the conveniently located and Texas-sized Killeen Civic & Conference Center that has 63,000 square feet of possibilities for your big day. This massive building boasts a spacious ballroom, a large special events room, and has many more amenities that can make for a stress-free planning experience. One of those perks is a dedicated booking manager and booking specialist that will help brides and grooms create a detailed floor plan so they know exactly how things will look on the day of their wedding. “A floor plan is very important, not only to the client but to the vendors they hire,” said Kathie Mulheron, director of the Killeen Civic & Conference Center. “Internally, we give that plan to our operations team for set up for tables, chairs, and the dance floor. That way, the couple can walk in and everything’s already placed.” The rental rates for the civic and conference center also include tables and chairs, which the venue staff set up and take down for each client. And although the venue has more of a rustic style, Mulheron said she has seen couples completely transform the center. “We’ve had clients that have come in with some neutral tones and a few decorations on the tables, and then we’ve had some fluorescent colors,” she said. “I’ve walked into events where I don’t even recognize that it’s our room.” Along with a blank canvas to create their dream wedding, clients also have the option to include bar services. The civic and conference center is TABC licensed and has a permit to serve mixed beverages. These services also include arranging for security. Currently, the facility is being booked at 50% occupancy, and following the Governor’s Open Texas guidelines. With modifications, the facility can be rented from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., which allows staff members time to clean and sanitize the tables and chairs and get the space ready for the next client. “In compliance with the City of Killeen Directive #4, all visitors are required to wear a face covering when in a city facility,” Mulheron said. Mobile hand-sanitizing stations are also available to make sure your event is safe for everyone who attends. “We have a beautiful, clean building and a friendly staff,” she said. “We pride ourselves in providing the best customer service that we can.” The Killeen Civic & Conference Center is located at 3601 South W S Young Drive in Killeen, TX.
