Project highlight: Explosion Bonded Titanium Cluster Flanges for Newcrest This project saw Berg develop explosively bonded Titanium Flanges with complete supply chain control and quality management functions incorporating multiple engineering suppliers across the globe. The project required the joining of titanium to carbon steel by a solid state process, Explosion Welding (EXW). The item is then prep machined, titanium welding with conventional mechanised GTAW, finish machined, non-destructively tested and pressure tested on completion. An ongoing project that Berg takes great pride in supporting an offshore customer that operates critical and dangerous processing plant in a remote and in an environmentally challenging climate. Berg sourced and established the international supply chain and quality council to bring this upgrade in on time and under budget.
