OLIVARI B.Launches new products in

Since 1911 Olivari has been manufacturing handles at its own factories in Italy where the entire production process takes place.

Starting with brass billets, the handles are forged, milled, polished, buffed, chrome-plated and hallmarked with a laser. Olivari has attained ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. Though it uses the most advanced technology, Olivari preserves all the artisanal wisdom it has accumulated in 100 years of history.

Handles made only in brass, Olivari products go through a precise sequence of phases: hot forging and shearing, mechanical processing, grinding, vibratory finishing, polishing, galvanic deposition, physical vapour deposition (PVD) and laser marking.

Salone del Mobile 2022 and Fuorisalone 2022 offered a rich programme of events, installations and launches. From 7 to 12 June 2022, the fair celebrated its 60th anniversary with a rich programme focused on creativity and innovation.

Olivari has implemented a quality management system that attained UNI EN ISO 9001 certification no. 0929/8. All its handles are manufactured entirely within the company. Each manufacturing phase is directly controlled in Olivari’s Borgomanero (NO) Italy plant.

Dynamic arises from the need to complete the range of products with a linear but expressive model.

Okay plays on geometric forms recurrent throughout Michael Anastassiades’ work. The point of the teardrop defines the level where to place the palm while the curvature creates a softer handling, necessary during the object operation – a fusion of form and function.

The new handle designed by Kai Linke, with its precise and minimalist design, is inspired by the historic ceramic handle.

The round handle-neck, made of metal, forms the round hand-flattering handle that’s made of ceramic.

PADDLE was developed from the observation that door handles are more often pushed downwards with the palm of the hand than they are gripped. Based on this insight, a form has evolved in which the top area of contact is increased.

In his long and productive collaboration with Olivari, Ponti focused on two types of approach to the design of handles. One was more organic, where the lever is offered to the hand’s grip as a sinuously modelled element.

The other was inspired by geometric clarity, according to which the hand naturally adapts to the shape. The former led to independent forms that are more expressive and influenced by ergonomic requirements.

The studies conducted to fine-tune the Chelsea handle are an expression of Jean Nouvel’s artistic sensibility. He designed it when he was working on 100 11th Avenue in the Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan, a 23-storey residential tower he describes as “a vision machine” that captures reflections from the nearby Hudson River. For the handles, Nouvel asked us for an unusual model. He wanted a shape that was different from the tubular geometry conventionally used for the lever.
