tasks are outlined in the Transition Guide you will receive next week In this Guide is everything you need to know about tasks that must be completed as well as other opportunities available to you. In addition, I will send out newsletters, (just like this!) for December and January as well. These newsletters will remind you of upcoming deadlines, provide valuable information about campus, and highlight additional opportunities for you to experience.

The Party of the Century

The Centennial Celebration It truly was the party of the century! Throughout the past year, Bentley University celebrated 100 years of business education with various events. The Centennial Celebration took place on June 3rd in conjunction with Reunion Weekend. Over 2,000 faculty, staff, alumni, and current students were present for this once-in-a-lifetime event. The alumni spanned 8 decades, including graduates from the class of 1940 through the class of 2017.

The weekend’s high energy was contagious, and everyone that came out had a great experience; attendees enjoyed each moment while looking forward to the next. A special highlight from the celebration was a Q&A session with Red Sox legend, David Ortiz, famously known as “Big Papi,” who shared his message of “making sure your parents are your best friends” with the Bentley community.

On Friday, the Lyman Estate hosted a dinner for the Great Benefactors – those who have donated over a million dollars in their lifetime to Bentley. This culminated in the unveiling of the Tribute Wall behind the Falcon Statue accompanied by the sound of appreciative applause. After a delicious “Taste of Waltham,” the celebration concluded with the Bentley community dancing the night away with gratitude, joy, and Falcon pride. Everyone left the weekend excited to see what’s to come in the next 100 years!

Campus Housing Starting a new adventure may seem daunting to many, but it is also exciting!

Housing may be one of the larger sources of your anxiety, but it need not be. In order to best prepare for move-in in January make sure to read the information below and complete the Checklist for New Students in your Transition Guide!

The 2017 – 2018 Housing & Meal Plan Contract and Housing Application is now available as an ‘Administrative Responsibility’ on your MyBentley account. Please read all of the information in the housing contract before you agree to it. As you finish the housing contract, your confirmation prompt will instruct you to complete the Housing Application. Both the housing/meal-plan contract and the housing application must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Special note from the Residential Center Staff: Living on campus during the spring semester brings so much excitement to our office! During the spring semester, we get to experience the after effects of winter and see the snow melt; we get the chance to watch the flowers bloom and the trees spring back to life; we feel the temperature progressively get warmer; and we get to experience the excitement residential students feel as they shift from snow activities to spring activities on the Green Space after classes have ended and during the weekends. Moving onto campus during the spring semester allows for our office to give you as much one-on-one time as you need with your Resident Assistant or Residence Director. We’re here to help you connect with your floor and your residential community. We’re excited to meet you and can’t wait to see how you experience living on campus during the spring semester!

The Student Center The Student Center, located in the center of campus, is the hub of student life. It is a place for students to study, socialize, and share a meal. Inside, you will find various places to grab a quick bite including, The 921 (our campus dining hall), Russo’s Market, Argo Tea, and Harry’s Pub. The Student Center also houses various student-centered Bentley Offices and centers utilized by students. Here are five of the spaces we hope you check out during your time at Bentley!

It develops a variety of programs that are fun, interactive, and educational, all of which help promote inclusion and create opportunities for diverse interactions on campus.

The Center for International Students and Scholars The CISS welcomes students from over 90 countries each year and is the central hub for international students. This center assists students with any questions they may have regarding VISA’s and their immigration status. Additionally, the CISS supports students as they adjust to life at Bentley. The goal of CISS is to ensure that all students feel comfortable in the Bentley community.

From the time students first step foot on campus, the importance of knowing their Top 5 strengths is emphasized and encouraged. The Clifton StrengthsFinder is a Web-Based assessment that all Bentley students are required to take.

StrengthsFinder helps students identify what comes naturally to them and allows them to be their best every day.

Bentley is committed to developing students who are prepared to lead great lives. Throughout your Bentley experience, you will have an opportunity to participate in various strengths-based leadership roles, programs, and initiatives. We want to provide you a space to practice what you do well.

Before you arrive on campus, you will complete the StrengthsFinder Assessment. During your first semester at Bentley, you will have the chance to explore your Top 5 Strengths. While at Bentley, there will be plenty of chances for you to focus on your skills, within the classroom and beyond. We will give you the tools you need in order to best articulate your talents and experiences. When students embrace their strengths, they are able to identify and create an environment that will allow them to be more engaged and productive in their careers.

Spring Day A Bentley Tradition.

Each spring, Bentley students celebrate the end of the academic year with a concert. Students look forward to this day from the moment they step onto campus in the fall. This past spring, the Bentley community celebrated Spring Day on April 29th.

Students woke up as early as seven in the morning in anticipation of the concert. The day started out with breakfast in the 921 and a Sparkling Brunch. From there, students headed down to Lower Campus.

The Lower Greenspace was covered in students lounging in cabanas.

Students gathered on the Lacrosse and Football Fields to play on inflatables. The Dana Center Parking Lot was filled with delicious foods, including milkshakes and sliders. The amazing day ended with a concert featuring Travis Scott and Metro Boomin with student DJ Jack Clavette opening the show. It really was a great way to end an awesome year.
