We have many anniversary events planned to unite the entire Bentley network, and as you come to campus in the fall, you can look forward to taking part in many of them, which include:     

Getting to Know Your Roommate As you head to college, you’ll have plenty of new experiences, like living with a roommate.

Many students have never lived away from home before, nor have they lived with a roommate (especially one they do not know), so adjusting to life in the residence halls may be a challenge. Having a good relationship with your new roommate(s) will require you to make an effort, as you will be sharing your personal space with others, and the residential center is here if you ever have any questions or concerns about your living arrangement. Below, we have provided some tips and tricks to get to know your roommate and have a positive living experience on campus.

COMMUNICATION IS KEY   

When you receive your roommate’s contact information, reach out! You can talk with, text, email, or message them on social media to discuss your interests and excitement about coming to campus.

Discuss who is bringing what, especially in terms of larger items! You only need one of each large item, such as a refrigerator, and talking to your roommate can help you avoid duplicates.

Get to know your RA (resident assistant) once you get to campus – they will be with you for the entire year, and they are a great resource when you or your roommate have questions.

THE ROOMMATE AGREEMENT 

At Bentley, in order to ensure your living arrangement is a positive experience, your Resident Assistant (RA) will guide you through the roommate agreement process!

WHAT IS A ROOMMATE AGREEMENT? 

This agreement is an easy to use document that will set the expectations of each roommate living within the space.

WHAT SHOULD I INCLUDE IN THIS DOCUMENT? 

    

Think about your needs and expectations within the room, so you will be able to effectively articulate this to a new roommate. o Areas to consider thinking about: study habits, sleep habits, housekeeping, personal vs shared possessions, visitation/guests, communication styles, etc.

Be prepared to compromise and where you would be comfortable doing so.

Pay attention to specifics and details regarding each part of the agreement.

COMMUNICATE with your roommate, and talk through the entire agreement so there is no confusion.

Revisit the agreement with your RA and roommate when necessary - be honest if something is not working for you.

Remember: Your RA is there as a resource, if you have any questions, need help filling out the Roommate Agreement, or are unsure how to approach your roommate about something, ask your RA for help!

Bentley Traditions Annual celebrations to look forward to as a falcon Homecoming → a celebration of campus spirit – usually involving food trucks, inflatables and entertainment – all leading up to the football game. Many alumni attend homecoming and celebrate their time as Falcons.

The night before homecoming, we host our annual Falcon Fest. This celebration is our kickoff to the event, and we celebrate the athletic programs and visiting alumni. This night is also very exciting because we celebrate Flex the Falcon’s birthday!

Comedy Show → Campus Activities Board works hard to put on many fantastic events during the year, and the Comedy Show is one of them. Comedians such as Gabriel Iglesias have visited in the past and entertained students in the Dana Center. If you’d like a guaranteed laugh, be sure to get your tickets for the Comedy Show!

Midnight Madness → this event kicks off our basketball season. The teams will be introduced, and everyone is encouraged to cheer and show Bentley pride, as there will be prizes for the most spirited falcons!

Breakfast by Moonlight (BBM) →every semester, right before finals begin, Bentley’s Residence Hall Association (RHA) hosts an event called Breakfast by Moonlight (or BBM). At BBM, various faculty and staff serve assorted breakfast foods to students, who come down to hangout, destress and participate in several fun games or contests. It’s a great way to end the semester and kickoff our finals, while donating to a great cause.

Consent Day → Hosted by the Equity Center, along with PRIDE and the Center for Women and Business, Consent day is a fun and informational event, where students can come participate in fun games, sign up for a raffle, and win awesome prizes all while learning about the

importance of consent, as well as other Title IX regulations.

Festival of Colors → The International Students Association hosts our annual Festival of Colors celebration! The festival includes talent acts from around the world, followed by a cultural sitdown dinner.

Spring Day → our spring day celebration is the day of our spring concert. In the past, we have had artists such as Jason Derulo, the Chainsmokers and T-Pain. During the day, there are typically inflatables, giveaways, and plenty of free food. Spring Day is a favorite tradition of Bentley students, and there is a reveal party during second semester that unveils who the performer(s) will be.

Fiercest Falcon → this is a yearlong school spirit competition. It is run through a free smartphone app called Fiercest Falcon (look for it on the app store). Students earn points by attending various athletic events. Work your way to the top of the leaderboard for some sweet prizes!

Earth Fest → happens in April on conjunction with Earth day – campus goes green and enjoys being outdoors with some fun activities, including a smoothie bike and a rock climbing wall.

Blackout Challenge  over the years, the school has united to reduce energy consumption by competing to see which residence hall can reduce their usage by the greatest percentage in one month.

Give n’ Go  when you move out at the end of the year, feel free to drop off some things you no longer want/need and pick up useful items left by peers. We donated over 15000 lbs. of stuff (goodwill and food shelves) last year!

Business as Usual Bentley is recognized as one of the country’s best undergraduate business schools, and one of the reasons for this is our General Business (GB) curriculum. The GB core combines with our general education core curriculum and course focus requirements to provide all students with critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills, as well as business knowledge. GB courses, are taken every year that a student is at Bentley, and they provide background knowledge in many areas of business.



GB 110 - Legal and Ethical Environment of Business o Overviews legal and ethical issues that confront business managers and executives in both starting and operating a business GB 112 - Tools & Concepts in Accounting and Finance o Provides a foundational understanding of accounting and finance concepts and tools GB 212- Practices & Applications in Accounting and Finance o Extends the foundational understanding of accounting and finance introduced in GB112, and introduces how to use financial statements in financial decision-making

SOPHOMORE YEAR 





GB 213 - Business Statistics o Teaches how to use data to illustrate key concepts for making decisions through business functions (i.e. accounting, economics, finance, information systems, management, and marketing) GB 214 - Marketing and Operations Fundamentals o Covers topics that span the marketing and operational disciplines, and how effective coordination between the two creates value for the customer, the company, and society GB 215 - Human Behavior & Organizations o Examines behavior in organizations and the relationship between this behavior and organizational effectiveness

JUNIOR YEAR 

GB 310 - Business Processes & Systems o Introduces students to the concept of a business as an integrated set of business processes and

associated systems designed to deliver value to customers. It involves hands on experience with a process modeling software, as well as SAP (a market leading enterprise system) GB 320 - Integrated Business Project o Students work on a team to solve problems for real organizations. GB 320 enables students to develop a better understanding of how business functions are integrated in the workplace.

GB 410 - Global Strategy o Focuses on the role of the top management team in formulating and implementing business and corporate level strategies, and in the course students will analyze company environments, formulate recommendations for many areas of business, and suggest methods for implementation
