Orientation and Welcome GETTING STARTED

Announcements

To get started with your new falcon experience, please make sure that you have signed the Technology Ethics Agreement in your BentleyConnect portal and have set up your Bentley email. Next, please read through this guide. There is important information regarding mandatory tasks and deadlines, which you must complete prior to the start of the semester.

It is important for you to check your Bentley email over the next few weeks and months. We often send important announcements and updates as we prepare for the start of the semester.

You will use your BentleyConnect portal as a landing page during the new Falcon experience but some tasks will be completed in other portals as needed, such as the housing portal and Workday. Workday is a cloudbased, mobile-friendly student information system where you will view your schedule and grades, access schedule planner, register for classes, add, drop, or swap classes, view your financial aid, pay your bill or request a refund, and access Degree Works. You can access workday by going to bentley.edu/mybentley.

To complete your new falcon tasks, log into your BentleyConnect portal. Make sure to check the portal regularly, to ensure you have completed your tasks.

New Student Checklist Your New Student Checklist will: n Outline all of the tasks discussed in this guide n Give you direct access to complete the tasks with helpful instructions

Student ID Cards Your Falcon Card is the key to accessing most services on campus. It is important that you carry it with you at all times. To create your Falcon Card, upload a photo by December 18, 2023. Please go to myphoto.bentley.edu and log in using your Bentley email and password. Read all directions carefully and please review the Terms of Use. Quick Selfie Tips: n The image must be in color and feature a clear, full-face view of only you. n You must be wearing normal street attire. n You may not wear a hat or dark glasses.

n The background must be white or off-white.

n The photo must be of a good likeness and it should have been taken within the last six months.

n The most common reason for a photo’s rejection is that the background is not white or off-white. Lines in doors, blinds, and siding can be distracting and may prevent the photograph from being approved.

n Feel free to smile in your photo, you’re a Falcon now!

Once your image is approved, your ID will be printed and waiting for you at Orientation.

ORIENTATION To ensure a smooth transition to Bentley, we utilize a tiered approach to Orientation for all new Falcons.

Bentley Beginnings is the start of your journey, followed by course registration, self-guided learning courses, and lastly, the on-campus Orientation program, which begins on January 18. Please note, this year we have added a new International Student Welcome and Orientation which begins on Wednesday, January 17.

n Social media: @welcomefalcons Bentley Beginnings Bentley Beginnings is an interactive online program that provides an opportunity for you to learn about the abundant resources and opportunities available to you.

Log into BentleyConnect and go to your checklist to access your Bentley Beginnings program. Please note that the online program must be completed prior to December 11, 2023. Once you’ve finished each of the sections, you will receive more information about creating your spring schedule.

Orientation Program: January 18, 2024 New Falcons who will be living on campus will begin the Orientation Program on January 18, 2024. You will move into your residence hall prior to the start of the program. Commuter students will begin their Orientation Program on Friday, January 19, 2024.

Please note, international students will arrive on Wednesday, January 17 to move in and start their welcome program.

During Orientation you will: n Meet other new students and connect with faculty and staff n Learn about our Core Values and your rights and responsibilities

n Participate in sessions and workshops to set a foundation for your academic career

n Engage in social and educational programming n Develop a plan to successfully navigate your first semester

The program will conclude on Sunday, January 21, with the official start of classes beginning on Monday, January 22.

Students will receive videos regarding registration and course selection in mid December. Please review these videos fully to prepare for registration. These videos will remain available for students to refer back to throughout the winter.

First-Year Student Registration Information During Bentley Beginnings, you will have the opportunity to learn about our many academic options and your requirements for the first semester of classes. All incoming first-year students will register for five courses for the spring semester, including the three-credit Falcon Discovery Seminar.

In addition to the Falcon Discovery Seminar, you will have the opportunity to take a variety of courses in the Bentley core curriculum. Specifically, you will take courses from the “Foundations,” “Business Dynamics” and “Context and Perspectives” sections of the core in addition to electives courses. Please review your schedule and be sure you are not registered for courses in which you may receive Advanced Standing credit. It is critical that Bentley receives your Advanced Standing grades, scores or transcripts as soon as they become available (see page 15 for details). All new students must complete their online orientation, the Math Selection Survey, and the Critical Reading and Writing placement essay (see page 14 for details) in order to register for classes.

Transfer Student Registration Information A few days prior to registration, each student will receive a personalized pre-registration email with important information that must be reviewed prior to January 11.

HONORS PROGRAM

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT INFORMATION

The Bentley University Honors Program offers a distinctive learning experience to a diverse community of our highest academically-achieving students who are passionate about exploring the world, are invigorated by inquiry, and driven to expand their horizons while giving back to their community both within and beyond Bentley.

The Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) welcomes students from more than 90 countries each year. We provide guidance on immigration-related matters as well as assistance with cultural adjustment. Our goal is to ensure that all students feel comfortable in the Bentley community — you are important to us.

By December, all new undergraduate students living outside of the United States should have received their I-20 and arranged to obtain an F1 visa. If you have not yet received your I-20 or experience difficulty in obtaining your F1 visa, please make sure to email GA_CISS@bentley.edu. For all incoming international Bentley students who are in the United States attending another university or secondary school, be sure you have spoken to your previous school to complete our Transfer-In form. Once your previous school arranges the transfer and the release date has passed, your F1 record will be transferred to Bentley for us to create your new I-20.

Arrival Information and International Student Orientation The International Student Welcome and Orientation begins January 17, 2024. Please make plans to arrive in the U.S. before this date. International students will move into their residence hall on Wednesday, January 17 and will participate in programming through January 21. More details will be provided throughout the upcoming weeks.

Immigration Registration Students will need to attend an F-1 orientation session as a part of your orientation program, as well as complete a mandatory (virtual) check-in process with CISS so that we can register your new immigration record in the government database (SEVIS).

FAMILY INFORMATION AND RESOURCES Family Orientation Opportunities Parents and family members are an important part of our community and we welcome you to Bentley.

As you begin this journey with your student, you may have many questions. To help you navigate, we invite to you take advantage of the opportunities and resources below: Online Family Resources To introduce you to Bentley, we invite you to view a series of videos that introduce you to the support and services available to you and your student.

To access the videos, visit the Parents and Family tab at bentley.edu/orientation.

One of the first tasks your student will be asked to complete is our online orientation, Bentley Beginnings.

We invite you to also take advantage of this great learning tool by creating a family/guest account. You can access all of the information contained in the Bentley Beginnings experience at orientation.bentley. edu.

Falcon Live Chats and Newsletter Throughout the winter we want to ensure you are able to connect with different staff members around campus. We offer Falcon Live Chats, our Zoom webinar series, to give you that chance. Falcon Live Chats provide an opportunity for you to participate in a live presentation and submit questions that are answered by staff members. Additionally, we encourage you to look out for our monthly family newsletter that highlights the New Student Checklist, as well as different student programs and campus resources. We hope these connections provide you with the chance to have your questions answered and to feel prepared for the beginning of the semester. Move-in Day and New Student Orientation You will get more detailed information about move-in when your student receives their housing assignment from the Residential Center. Following move-in, students will say farewell to family and friends and join their Orientation groups to officially kick off New Student Orientation.

FERPA One of the most significant changes a family experiences when sending a student to school relates to privacy standards for educational records at colleges and universities. Bentley University believes that managing privacy is an important development task for its students. Guidelines regarding privacy of students’ educational records are governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal law established in 1974. For additional information regarding FERPA please visit bentley.edu/offices/ student-affairs/ferpa.

Our Office of Alumni and Family Engagement has various programs and opportunities for all community members. One of our signature events is Falcon Weekend, held in the fall. Health and Wellbeing THE CENTERS FOR HEALTH, COUNSELING AND WELLBEING As you transition to the Bentley community, know that Bentley values your well being and the Centers for Health, Counseling and Wellbeing are staffed with caring individuals who are here to support you.

For your mental health needs: The Counseling Center is a mental health resource for all students seeking support. Through on-campus clinicians and external partnerships, the Counseling Center offers a range of mental health services to all Bentley students.

For your health needs: We have a highly skilled and caring team of nurse practitioners (NPs), a registered nurse, a nutrition and wellness coach and a consulting physician as well as dedicated administrative staff. Our Health Center staff is available throughout the year to help full-time students navigate all of their health care needs. Our certified NPs are licensed to diagnose and treat many common health conditions and injuries, prescribe medication, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide health counseling and education. Some of our offerings include: comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care, response to sexual violence, testing for sexually transmitted infections, genderaffirming hormone therapy, HIV prevention, immunization clinics, nutrition counseling, and referral to specialty care as appropriate. Visits with our NPs are covered by student enrollment and are confidential.

For learning how to balance life outside of the classroom: We offer personal health coaching, consultations, campus events and resources on a variety of topics, such as stress management, sleep, safer drinking, sexual health, relationships and affirmative consent, self-care, nutrition, physical activity, and much more.

Please call us or visit our websites for more information and let us know if we can help you with any prior medical or psychological condition as you to transition to Bentley. We welcome you to connect via Instagram @bentley_health and visit our offices as you settle on campus and take advantage of our confidential services and expertise.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION The Bentley University Health Center and the state of Massachusetts requires full-time students (12 or more credits) to complete health requirements on our secure Student Health Portal bentley.medicatconnect.com no later than December 15, 2023, for spring enrollment.

The information is confidential. The health portal becomes available in November. You will not be allowed to move into housing or begin classes until you have submitted the required information.You will also be charged a $50 nonrefundable fee if you remain non-compliant after 30 days of start of semester.

Information MUST be submitted through the Student Health Portal. Please do not email, fax or mail documents. Make sure any documents you upload to the health portal are official. The documentation should have at a minimum: your name, date of birth, a medical provider name/signature, vaccine names and doses, and the dates they were administered.

Please check the health center website bentley.edu/ university-life/student-health/health-center for further updates.

Steps for using the health portal: 1. Go to bentley.medicatconnect.com and log on with your Bentley email and password (starting in November).

2. Click on “Forms” and complete your health history and the TB/Tuberculosis Risk questionnaire. a. Depending on the results of the TB Risk questionnaire, some students will be directed to complete TB testing and have the TB Medical Provider form completed by your medical provider. You can access this form by clicking on the “Forms” button. A comparable form generated by your medical provider is also acceptable.

Those results and form need to be uploaded to the Health Portal. b. Consent to Treat form if under 18 years.

3. Click on “Immunizations” and manually enter vaccine dates OR lab titer results OR evidence of having had the illness. You must also upload documentation to support the information you entered manually.

Please note: The Bentley immunization record form allows for your provider to document vaccines by date, lab testing or evidence of disease.

4. Click on “Upload” to import the following documents (emailed, faxed or mailed documents are not accepted): a. Signed and dated immunization record. This can be the Bentley University Immunization Record, OR the official form from your health care provider or school. b. TB/Tuberculosis Medical Provider form or forms generated by your provider that fulfill the requirements outlined in the portal, if required after completing the TB Risk questionnaire.

Once you have manually entered and uploaded your documents through the Student Health Portal, they will be verified. Please check your Bentley email for messages from complianceservices@medicat.com; you will be contacted by them only if your health requirements are incomplete.

VACCINE

REQUIREMENTS

Hepatitis B

Three doses required of Engerix-B or Recombivax-HB, or two doses of Heplisav-B (18+ only), or documentation of a positive hepatitis B antibody titer (anti-HBs).

Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR)

Two doses of the combined vaccine, given at least one month apart; the first dose must be received on or after your first birthday. A blood test (titer) to determine immunity is acceptable. If not immune to all three parts of the vaccine, you will need to complete the combined vaccination series. History of measles, mumps and rubella is not acceptable.

Meningococcal/meningitis (Menactra, Menveo)

All newly enrolled full-time students 21 years of age and under will be required to submit one of the following: •D ocumentation of a dose of MenACWY vaccine received on or after your 16th birthday and within the last five years OR • A signed meningococcal vaccine waiver OR • A medical or religious exemption for meningococcal vaccine

Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (Tdap)

At or after age 7, but ideally age 11 and older. Td (tetanus) booster or repeat Tdap required if Tdap was more than 10 years ago.

Tuberculosis

Complete the Tuberculosis (TB) Risk questionnaire on the portal. A “Yes” answer to any question will direct you to the TB Medical Provider form on the portal. This needs to be completed by your health provider and submitted to Bentley through the portal. Also acceptable are forms generated by your provider that meet the requirements as outlined in the form provided by Bentley.

Varicella (chickenpox)

Two doses given at least one month apart; the first dose must be received on or after your first birthday. A blood test (titer) to determine immunity is acceptable or documentation of a reliable history of varicella disease verified by a health care provider.

In addition to those listed above, we also recommend the following vaccines: Covid-19, Seasonal Influenza, HPV vaccine series, Meningococcal B vaccine series, Hepatitis A.

Flu and Covid vaccines are subject to change and may be required.

HEALTH INSURANCE The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has a Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) law that requires all undergraduate students taking nine or more credit hours to carry accident and sickness insurance through a qualifying health insurance provider. This coverage may be either a personal private insurance plan, provided it meets the state’s requirements, or the student health insurance plan offered by Bentley University. The requirements are outlined at: betterhealthconnector.com/wp-content/uploads/ship/ Regulations/956CMR8_Student_Health_Regs.

Some insurance plans, particularly HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations), do NOT provide coverage out of state; some plans have stringent rules and restrictions on referrals; and some plans have sizeable deductibles that must be paid before coverage starts. Please review the benefits of your current health insurance plan to make sure you will have adequate coverage while you are enrolled at Bentley University. You may want to compare your current plan benefits and costs to the student plan offered through Bentley. The details of the Bentley-sponsored plan can be found at: universityhealthplans.com. Click on “Bentley University” and then click on “Benefit Information” in the toolbar.

Our provider is Blue Cross Blue Shield. The negotiated rate is $1,441.00 and coverage runs from January 1, 2024, until 12:01 a.m. on July 31, 2024. The plan provides unlimited coverage. In order to comply with state law, you need to either waive the school-sponsored plan by providing information about your own or your family’s plan, or enroll and purchase the school-sponsored plan.

Both processes are done online and students are required to do this each new school year. The deadline to waive or enroll is January 8, 2024.

To waive or enroll in the student health insurance plan, visit: universityhealthplans.com, select “Bentley University” and click on the “Waive” or “Enroll” link on the toolbar. You will receive confirmation via email stating whether the enrollment or waiver was successfully completed. All students are automatically pre-billed for the plan on their student account. If you do not successfully complete the online waiver by January 8, 2024, you will be responsible for paying for the school-sponsored insurance plan.

Please note: All international students and other non-U.S. residents are required to purchase the student health insurance plan offered by Bentley University and will automatically be enrolled. You do not need to take any action. If you have embassy-sponsored insurance, you may be eligible to waive the plan. Please contact University Health Plans at +1 833-251-1738 to discuss this option. If you are covered by a Massachusetts-based employersponsored insurance plan, please contact University Health Plans at 833-251-1738 to see if you qualify for an exception to this requirement.

REQUIRED SELF-GUIDED LEARNING COURSES Our Core Values of caring, collaboration, diversity, honesty, impact, learning and respect all contribute to the campus experience and our culture inside and outside of the classroom. The transition to college presents many new experiences for students specific to health and belonging. To best prepare you for navigating this exciting transition, we require all new students to complete online courses that focus on creating a healthy campus culture. This includes content around responsible use of alcohol and other substances, interpersonal relationships, equity and inclusion, and seeking and supporting mental health. These self-guided learning courses address critical life skills and issues that will affect your college years and beyond. Every new student must complete these courses. Please allow 3-4 hours in total to do so. n Students will be emailed access instructions. There are two vendors who manage these courses. n Each of these required courses must be completed before Orientation. n Failure to complete on time will result in a disruption to campus services or processes.

If you are a transfer student who has completed an online substance use prevention course at your previous institution, you can email thrive@bentley.edu prior to January 15, 2024 to inquire about a waiver. Scores from other programs may be accepted if certain conditions are met. We do not accept transfer scores for the other learning content.

BENTLEY CARE TEAM We understand that our students may experience a variety of academic and personal challenges during their time at Bentley. The Care Team, a small group of staff members from Student Affairs and Academic Services, works collaboratively with partners across campus to follow up with students who may benefit from support to connect them with the resources or services they need.

Family members, students and community members who are concerned about a student are encouraged to talk with the student whenever feasible and then make a referral to an appropriate resource if necessary. Any direct conversation with a student can be supplemented by a referral to the Care Team and/or any resource on campus. Family members have reached out to the Care Team when they believe direct outreach and support from the university would be beneficial.

Student Account Billing and Payments TERMS AND CONDITIONS

GRADGUARD™ TUITION INSURANCE

Financial institutions (including colleges and universities) are required to be transparent with their policies, procedures and requirements. They also require proof that the consumer/student is aware of the policies and their responsibilities. Therefore, Bentley requires that all students incurring debt acknowledge their obligations and the financial policies of the university by agreeing to our terms and conditions. This requirement is completed through the Workday onboarding process. Students will receive a Workday notification when the onboarding process is available to complete.

What happens when your student’s education is disrupted by an unexpected injury or illness? Depending on the timing of the withdrawal, you may not be eligible to receive a refund of all of your tuition and fees.

TUITION

This coverage strengthens and broadens the scope of our existing refund policy by ensuring reimbursement for tuition, housing and other payments if a student withdraws for any covered medical reason at any time during the semester.

Students and third-party users can access semester billing statements via the Finances application in your Workday account. Students can also enroll in the payment plan in Workday. If someone other than you (e.g., a parent) is expected to make student account payments (including payment plan installments), you must establish access for the parent and/or guest via Workday. Parents/guests are able to log in to view bills and make online payments through an account that you create for them. Fall tuition bills are available to be viewed during mid July. Spring tuition bills are issued the beginning of December.

TUITION BILL PAYMENT OPTIONS n Online electronic check via Automated Clearing House (ACH), whereby funds are electronically withdrawn n Wire transfer (Flywire) or mail personal check following instructions provided on Student Accounts website: bentley.edu/offices/student-financial-services/student-accounts n Installment Payment Plan (see Bentley University Payment Plan) n Credit card via HigherOne/CashNet SmartPay, which is an external processor charging a 2.85% convenience fee for domestic bank credit cards and a 4.25% fee for international bank credit cards

PAY WITH CRYPTOCURRENCY International and domestic students and their families can also pay their tuition bill using Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDC. Follow the instructions on the Student Financial Services website: bentley.edu/offices/student-financial-services/ student-accounts.

BENTLEY UNIVERSITY PAYMENT PLAN The university provides the option of an installment payment plan for each semester, with a $35 enrollment fee for each term. The fall plan runs between August and November and the spring plan runs between December and March. The number of installments is based on when the student enrolls in the payment plan. The due date is the 15th of the month.

TUITION DUE DATES Spring semester balances are due by January 8, 2024.

Requirements and Credits MATH REQUIREMENT

FIRST-YEAR MATH COURSES

All Bentley University undergraduates are required to earn credit for at least one Mathematical Sciences course as part of their degree requirements.

MA131 / MA131L Calculus I: Register in your first semester (good for strong math students); required for Data Analytics, Actuarial Science, Mathematical Sciences and Quantitative Economics majors and for Actuarial Science, Mathematics, and Applied Statistics minors.

Students with strong math skills would benefit from earning credit for two math courses, both MA131 Calculus I and MA139 Calculus II. These courses are required for Mathematical Sciences and Actuarial Science majors as well as for some math-oriented minors. Majoring in Data Analytics or Quantitative Economics requires credit for MA131 Calculus I. Please see the course descriptions for specific content on the Mathematical Sciences website (bentley.edu/ academics/departments/mathematical-sciences).

The math requirement may be satisfied by completing mathematics courses at Bentley University or earning Advanced Standing Credit (see pages 15 and 16 of this guide or bentley.edu/undergraduate/advancedstanding-credit for more information).

CRITICAL READING AND WRITING REQUIREMENT Bentley requires you to complete two courses designed to improve your communication skills: Critical Reading and Writing, which you will take in your first semester, and Multimodal Communication, which you will take in your second semester. There are several versions of each course, which all cover the same kinds of materials, have the same objectives, and fulfill the requirements.

Critical Reading and Writing Placement Essay All incoming first-year students must complete the Critical Reading and Writing placement essay to determine which version of the class would be the best fit for them. The essays are evaluated by a committee of writing faculty according to carefully developed criteria that reliably predict how much writing instruction students need to develop the critical reading and writing skills required at Bentley.

Surprising as it may be, we have found that college writing ability does not correlate with high school grades, SAT scores, or honors/AP/IB courses.

The essay you are being asked to write is similar to those you will be asked to complete in the first few weeks of your Critical Reading and Writing course— you are being asked to read an argumentative essay, then summarize, evaluate, and analyze part of that essay’s argument. We have found that this similarity to a real assignment—including the timeframe in which you are being asked to complete it—provides a good indication of which version of the class will best serve you as you continue to develop your reading and writing skills.

Placement Essay Instructions The Critical Reading and Writing placement essay must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. You should begin the placement essay process as soon as possible to allow yourself enough time to complete the assignment fully before the deadline. You may take all the time you need until the deadline to write and revise.

ADVANCED STANDING CREDIT Certain course work and exams may be eligible for credit for new students. If you are applying for Advanced Standing credit, all materials should be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.

The deadline for submitting ALL Advanced Standing credit is the first day of classes in the student’s first semester.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams If you enrolled in an AP class in high school and took the official AP exam, we may award college credit for AP scores of 4 or 5 in most subjects other than AP Seminar and AP Research.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Exams Credit may be awarded for most International Baccalaureate (IB) higher-level subjects with a score of 5 or better on the official exam, with the exception of any English, Business or Management courses. Please order official test results directly from the International Baccalaureate Organization and request delivery to Bentley’s Office of Undergraduate Admission.

The Seal of Biliteracy If you have been awarded the Seal of Biliteracy either with or without distinction in any foreign language, you may be awarded credit at Bentley. The Seal of Biliteracy must come directly from your school counselor/office or be clearly noted on your final high school transcript.

Please be aware that you do not need to purchase Microsoft Office 365 as it is made available to you at no additional cost, while you are a registered student at Bentley.

It is strongly recommended that you purchase a Windows computer as it provides the best experience across the curriculum.

If you choose a Mac laptop, be aware that certain courses require Windows-only applications. While not recommended, if you choose to use a Mac laptop, certain courses require Windows-only applications. These courses include Accounting (AC), Computer Information Systems (CS), Information Process Management (IPM) and Finance (FI) courses.

For macOS users, Bentley cannot guarantee compatibility with Windows-only applications for certain courses. Students with Macs will need to purchase and install additional software to use Windows-only applications in order to complete course requirements. Also, you may incur additional costs to acquire virtualization software for your Mac. Installing virtualization software is both time consuming and requires advanced technical knowledge to use on your Mac laptop.

Purchasing a New Computer Bentley offers educational pricing on Windows computers. Each year Bentley reviews brands, models, and configurations based on product quality, reliability, value and the ability to meet the needs of the curriculum. Last year, we offered Lenovo laptops, which can be purchased from a secure procurement portal provided by Micros Northeast for Windows-based products.

Please note that tablets, iPads and Chromebooks do not provide adequate functionality in order to complete your necessary academic work at Bentley and are not supported.

While students are not required to purchase Bentley’s recommended laptop computers via the Micros Northeast portal, there are advantages to doing so, including access to vetted business-class computers, educational discounts, four-year warranty and accidental damage coverage, on-campus repair services, and priority access to a loaner should your computer need repair.

Housing CAMPUS HOUSING Housing and Meal Plan Contract If you were accepted as a residential student, a space in on-campus housing has been reserved for you.

You will need to confirm your intent to utilize this assignment by completing the 2023-2024 Housing and Meal Plan Contract. The contract will be available beginning November 1, 2023, and students will receive an email to log into the Housing Portal. Once logged in, select “Forms and Applications” at the top of the page. Please read all of the information in the housing contract, then complete the application. The housing application will ask questions regarding your living preferences.

The housing and meal plan contract, along with the housing application, must be completed by December 8, 2023 to secure on-campus housing. Housing assignments will be emailed to all residents in late December, pending the completion of Bentley Beginnings.

MOVE-IN DAY New Student Move-In Day is scheduled for Thursday, January 18, 2023. We look forward to welcoming you to campus! More information and specific details about the move-in process will be communicated to your Bentley email address in late December 2023 or early January 2024. *Please note, if you are participating in the International Student Welcome and Orientation, your move-in day will be January 17, 2024.

BILLING Students can access spring semester billing statements in Workday in December. The statement can be viewed on the screen or a PDF version can be printed. The statement will include a housing and meal plan charge.

All students will be pre-billed for a double room and the Block 304 meal plan. Once actual assignments are made, your student account will be adjusted to reflect the appropriate charges.

Please note that each room type has a different cost; students and their families should review the room rates published on our website when submitting room type preferences in their Housing Application.

HOUSING AND MEAL PLAN ACCOMMODATION PROCESS Bentley residents with a medical diagnosis and/or specific need because of their religious/faith practice can petition the Residential Center to obtain a relevant accommodation in housing for the 2023-2024 academic year. The petition process for an accommodation is a pre-selection process, with all approved applicants securing an appropriate assignment before the 20232024 New Student Housing Assignment Process begins. Petitions for medical accommodations must include supporting documentation from a medical specialist. Please visit our website to learn more about the Housing and Meal Plan Accommodation Process.

GENDER AND SEXUALITY STUDENT PROGRAMS OFFICE The Office of Gender and Sexuality Student Programs (GSSP) seeks to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all students to engage with topics of gender and sexuality. Signature Programs Women’s Leadership Program (WLP) A four-year co-curricular program that empowers women with the essential skills, real-world experiences, and confidence needed to advance into leadership roles.

Men as Allies Summit Men of Alliance hosts a series of fireside chats, with a culminating summit in the spring, that explores how masculinity intersects with other social and cultural identities. Students, staff and faculty of all genders are invited to engage in these conversations to learn about and implement their practice of allyship towards women and the LGBTQ+ community.

Rainbow Scholars Program In partnership with the Center for Women and Business, the GSSP office launched the Rainbow Scholars Program in September 2022. This yearlong intersectional leadership development program provides LGBTQ+ and allied undergraduate students with the opportunity to grow in both their personal and professional development through learning, engagement and networking. Students will develop skills of leadership, advocacy, and identity awareness.

GSSP/PRIDE Mentoring Program GSSP partners with PRIDE (People Respecting Individuality and Diversity through Education) to lead a mentorship program for LGBTQ+ students. Each participant is matched with an LGBTQ+ faculty, staff or junior/senior mentor. The goal is for the mentors and mentees to develop an open dialogue, meet monthly, and attend networking sessions on relevant topics.

Student Organizations People Respecting Individuality and Diversity through Education (PRIDE) A student organization that provides support, education and social activities for the LGBTQ+ and allied community, offering events such as Drag Bingo and PRIDE Prom. PRIDE also partners with the GSSP office to hold the monthly Open Forums series and LGBTQ+ mentoring program.

Students Advocating Gender Equality (SAGE) A student organization that promotes the personal development and empowerment of women and gender equity through open dialogue and events, such as “Vagina Monologues” and “Pizza Rolls, not Gender Roles.”

WORLDVIEW PROGRAM The WorldView program recognizes and values varying perspectives, encourages cross-cultural dialogue and promotes global citizenship. Acting as cultural agents, WorldView ambassadors share their firsthand experiences with others to enrich classroom lessons and build a global community.

International students apply for the program, complete training with members of CISS staff, and meet with them to prepare before each presentation. They then have the option to choose which presentations they want to participate in and have opportunities to present in classrooms and staff meetings all across campus to share their perspectives as international students. For example, WorldView ambassadors from three different countries presented to a Sports Marketing class about marketing strategies for popular sports in their countries of origin. Discussion panels

of WorldView ambassadors have also answered questions on topics ranging from navigating diverse workplaces, to nonverbal communication styles, to explaining the factors that influence health and disease in their home countries.

STUDENT PARKING Please visit the University’s Parking and Driving website (bentley.edu/offices/shuttle-parking-safety/rules-and-regulations) for all parking Rules and Regulations, a detailed map with parking lot designations, and the parking fee schedule.

First-Year Resident Students First-Year resident students are not permitted to have vehicles on campus. Some exceptions can be made; however, they are granted on an extremely limited basis for hardship or medical purposes, supported by documentation. All requests for exemption to this rule must be made in writing using the First-Year Parking Request Form. Those students granted parking privileges must comply with strict guidelines, which will be outlined at the time a parking permit is issued. Violation of the FirstYear Resident parking rules and regulations will result in your vehicle being ticketed and/or towed. Additionally, repeated violation of these guidelines may result in a

referral to the student conduct board and the revocation of parking privileges.

The deadline to apply for an exemption to the First-Year Resident Parking Rule is January 8, 2024.

Transfer Students and Commuter Students If you park on campus, your car must be registered and permitted through the Card Office, which is located within the University Police Station. Parking fees are non-refundable, and are billed through your WorkDay account each semester. The university’s parking rules and regulations are fully enforced. To avoid citation, be sure to park in a legal parking space within your designated parking lot. All lots have color-coded signs, posted at entrances, which indicate who is authorized to park there. Citations are issued to unpermitted cars, cars parked illegally or in a reserved spot, and cars parked outside of their designated lot.

BENTLEY SHUTTLE The Bentley Shuttle is a great resource that can be used to explore the local area or just get around campus. The B-Line Shuttle stops at North Campus, LaCava Shuttle Hub, Falcone Apartments, Collins Hall and Fenway Hall. The Harvard Square route includes all B-Line stops as well as Waverley Square in Belmont and Harvard Square in Cambridge for easy access to MBTA buses, subway and commuter rail lines. Waverley Square has many shops including a grocery store for your convenience. The Harvard Square route provides access to Boston. The Waltham Falcon Flyer provides access to four locations in Waltham. Departing from the LaCava Shuttle Hub, you can access restaurants, shopping, groceries, pharmacy, and MBTA commuter rail and bus stations.

A mobile app provides live tracking, bus capacity, arrival times and important schedule updates for holiday breaks, special events and weather disruptions.
