You’ve Made a Great Choice Bentley is an amazing place to live and learn

Things to Look Forward To!

Hey transfer students! No matter which schools you are coming from, you all have one thing in common: you are all Falcons now!

As you prepare to come to campus in the fall, there are a few things that you might want to know about Bentley to help you on the road to success.

411 on Credit Transfers    



Only 2 courses may transfer into the academic major area of study Only 1 course may transfer into the academic minor Collegiate courses completed at the high school will require further review.

If you completed AP, IB, college, etc. credit prior to your college enrollment, please see the applicable credit policy sections on our website.

A maximum of 60 transfer credits may be awarded from all sources of credit combined

** All Transfer credentials must be received by October 15th ** No Credit Awarded for:      

Courses where you have earned below a "C" grade or its equivalent Courses that are remedial or offered at the pre-collegiate level Courses that are designated with less than three semester credit hours Courses that are non-academic in nature (e.g., internships, recreational, etc.)

Courses completed at a non-regionally accredited institution CLEP (Credit by Exam or Prior Learning) exams





Transfer Registration Day – August 9th o On this day, we welcome all of you (our transfer students) to campus to meet with academic advisers and register for courses o RSVP on MyBentley!  ORIENTATION – August 24th-28th o You will move in between 8am and 1pm on the 24th, after which you will dive into a few days of getting acquainted with campus  Transfer Seminar o This one-credit course will take place during your first semester here – during which you will learn more about academic life and campus resources

Tips and Tricks to Adjust to Campus ASAP Bentley will feel like a second home in the blink of an eye We want you to feel prepared to come to campus this fall, so we at the Orientation Office reached out to students who have transferred into Bentley, and asked them what tips and tricks helped them assimilate into campus smoothly. Here is the advice they have to offer you! 











The OLs (Orientation Leaders) are super friendly and great resources for all things Bentley, so be sure to ask them questions during orientation and throughout the year The workload may be more time consuming than at your previous school, but it is manageable with your transfer credits Some of your general classes may be with primarily freshmen, but Bentley does a great job of integrating you with students in your year as well – so don’t stress!

Wait until you get to the first week of class and get your syllabus before buying textbooks to confirm what is actually necessary for the class There is a main dining hall – The 921 – which is where your swipes work, but there are TONS of other eating options on campus. Discretionary dollars come with your meal plan, and they can be used at the many locations on campus.

We have a food court (LaCava Lower Café) and a coffee and bagel shop (Einstein’s on Upper campus. We have a burrito joint (Currito) and an all-day breakfast location (The Nest) on lower campus – on the Dana Center. In the Student Center, you have The 921, Russo’s Market (a deli) and Argo Tea. Explore and enjoy all of the campus locations.

Get involved right away – it’s the best way to meet new people who share your







interests. Put yourself out there to make the most of your experience.

Remember, you’re not the only new transfer student! Connect with the students you are transferring in with – as you are all in a similar situation at a new school In terms of housing – Traditionally, most of our single rooms are located in our first-year residence halls, though we may have limited single spaces available in our upperclassmen housing (i.e. a single in a 5 person suite, half of a double in a 6 person suite). No matter your living arrangement, you will have a wonderful RA and RD that will serve as a resource for you in the building.

If you get your housing assignment and see that you are going to have roommates, be sure to reach out to your roommates before the semester begins.

It will make things less awkward, and you can start to get to know them! It may also be helpful in terms of coordinating what larger items (i.e. microwave, fridge) you should bring

What is Transfer Seminar?

Transfer Seminar (TS111) is a one credit course, taken during your first semester as a Bentley student. The 6 week course involves lectures and discussions, all of which are geared around getting you adjusted to campus life. The seminar looks to ease all aspects of your transition, while providing you with academic resources and knowledge that will make you successful here on campus. Your instructor will act as an academic adviser for your first semester on campus, so be

sure to go to them with questions! In addition, each class will have the benefit of a student facilitator – a former transfer student who can share their experiences and perspectives with you. Transfer Seminar is also a great way to get to know other new students who are in the same boat as you, as you will be spending some quality time with them in this class.
