BENTLEY ORIENTATION AND NEW STUDENT PROGRAMS
Open Houses These sessions provide a space for you to interact with faculty and staff connected to these offices and departments. These are not formal presentations, but are interactive sessions available between 1 pm – 4pm. Career Services Location – LaCava 225, (every 30 minutes) Come by the Undergraduate Career Services office to meet your future dedicated career coach. Hear from Director of Undergraduate Career Education and Outcomes, Alyssa Hammond about your four year HIRE Education Plan, the Freshman Year Career Development Introduction Class, CDI 101, and how the UCS will help you become the CEO of your life.
Center for Women and Business Location – LaCava 298 The Gloria Cordes Larson Center for Women and Business (CWB) offers programs for men and women focused on critical workplace diversity issues and strategies for self-advocacy and inclusive leadership. We prepare students for success! Stop in to learn more about our programs and look for our events on campus!

Passport to the Library Location – Bentley University Library Meet the friendly library crew and hear about all the ways that they can help you to get a head start navigating around this campus hub. On the self-guided tour, you’ll discover that the library is way more than just books. Undergraduate Research Location – Jennison 1st Floor Meet professors and learn about opportunities for getting involved in undergraduate research at Bentley in any discipline, from the arts & sciences to business. Pick up a copy of Fusio: The Bentley Undergraduate Research Journal. See the brandnew new labs and classrooms in the Natural and Applied Science Department, where you’ll take engaging courses in the natural sciences and maybe even conduct research with a Bentley professor. Informational Sessions These sessions are hosted at specific times and range from formal presentations to meet and greet opportunities. How to Succeed in GB 112 1:00 pm-1:30 pm | 2:00 pm-2:30 pm | 3:00 pm-3:30 pm in Koumantzelis In this session, you will learn about strategies for success in GB112, Tools and Concepts in Accounting and Finance and GB212, Practice and Applications in Accounting and Finance. The session will be led by the course co-coordinators, Professor Karen Osterheld and Professor Steve Wasserman. This is a great opportunity to meet them and get your questions answered.
How to Succeed in GB 110 1:30 pm-2:00 pm | 2:30 pm-3:00 pm in Wilder Auditorium How to succeed in GB110 is a session that will give you tips and resources on how to be successful in your GB110: The Legal and Ethical Environment of Business class. Professor Kiana Pierre-Louis, the GB110 Coordinator will go over some strategies, resources, and some legal topics that will help you navigate throughout the class.

Come and join some of Bentley’s First Year Seminar Peer Leaders in an informal discussionbased setting where you can hear experienced students’ perspectives on how to be successful at Bentley.
Meet the Academic Deans! 2:00 pm-4:00 pm in the Adamian Atrium Michael Johnson-Kramer, PhD, Dean of Business and McCallum School of Business and Rick Oches, PhD, Dean of Arts and Sciences lead Bentley’s world-class faculty in delivering the best possible educational experiences to Bentley students. The Deans will be on hand to meet new students in a relaxed setting. There is no agenda – come, introduce yourself and get to know the deans!
WINNING! An Insider’s Guide to Academic Competitions at Bentley 2:00 pm-2:30 pm | 3:00 pm-3:30 pm in Lindsay 28 Come find out what it takes to win on Bentley’s Fed Challenge team, Moot Court team, and other academic competition offerings on campus! Team advisers for Fed Challenge (present a monetary policy recommendation to Federal Reserve judges) and Moot Court (argue legal issues before a panel of lawyers) will be on hand to discuss the ins and outs and benefits of participation, and also provide information on other academic competitions offered at Bentley. These include, but not limited to the Travelers Actuarial Case Competition (solve an actuarially oriented business problem), the Bentley Business Bowl (solve real-world problems), PriceWaterhouseCoopers x Tax Competition (solve accounting cases), Information Systems student competition, and many more. Come find out how you can become involved in these unique experiential team-based learning opportunities!
Sustainability Tour: The Business Case for Sustainability 2:00 pm-3:00 pm in the courtyard between LaCava and Rauch (Rain Location: Jennison 212) Being in business and having a positive impact on the world does not need to be mutually exclusive. Learn how the Office of Sustainability is changing Bentley University and how you can too on a walk-and-talk campus sustainability tour from Upper Campus to the Bentley Arena.
Mock Classes These sessions are hosted at specific times and range from formal presentations to meet and greet opportunities. Concept Development 2:00 pm-3:00 pm in Lindsay 10 (Mac Lab) This course is designed to teach concept development skills and creative brainstorming techniques for visual communication solutions. Every project starts with a creative idea. Where do these ideas come from? How do you form a visual concept? What is a Design Concept? concept (n) – a general idea used to formulate a plan. A design concept is the idea behind a design. It’s how you plan on solving the design problem in front of you. It’s the underlying logic, thinking, and reasoning for how you’ll design your visual layout and solve the message challenge. Your concept will lead to your choices in color and type. It’ll choose your aesthetic and determine your grid and layout. Every design decision you make will fall back on your concept for direction. Your design concept becomes the framework for all your design decisions.

Join us for an interactive mock class where we’ll explore the many aspects of marketing using common, overlooked examples in our daily lives.

Professor Missirian will discuss some of the differences between high school or other colleges and Bentley, and how to take advantage of important resources.
