EURO RX3 CHAMPION! Félicitation pour votre titre, vous êtes champion en EURO RX3. Trois manches gagnées pendant la saison sur cinq weekends de course, c’est une belle performance ! Quel est votre secret ? « Évidemment, c’est formidable de gagner 3 courses sur 4 (et une fois deuxième), et d’être déjà couronné champion avec encore une course à courir.

Je n’ai pas vraiment de secret, j’essaie de me préparer au mieux chez moi avant le weekend de course, mentalement et physiquement et en étudiant les données et les vidéos à ma disposition. Ça me permet de mémoriser les points de freinage et les trajectoires. Ensuite, lors des entraînements libres, ce n’est plus qu’une question d’explorer les limites. » Malheureusement il n’y a pas de course à Spa pour l’EURO RX3. Serez-vous présent pour encourager vos collègues belges des autres séries ? « Évidemment ! Les Belges ont très bien couru au Portugal, ce serait fantastique de continuer sur cette lancée, surtout à Spa !

Voir la Belgique sur la plus haute marche du podium, c’est notre rêve à tous ! »

Congratulations on your championship title. You are a champion at EURO RX3. Three wins during the season from five race weekends, that’s a great result! What is your secret?

“It’s great to win 3 out of 4 races (and 1 time second), and then to be honoured as champion with 1 race to go, of course. I don’t really have a secret, I try to prepare very well for the race weekend at home, mentally and physically and by studying data and video material. So, I am very familiar with all the braking points and racing lines. That way, in the free practice sessions, it’s just a matter of finding the limits.”

Unfortunately, there is no race for the EURO RX3 in Spa. Will you be there to support your Belgian colleagues from the other series?

“Of course! The Belgians did very well in Portugal, now it would be fantastic if we can continue that line, especially in Spa! Seeing Belgium on the top of the podium is the goal!”

!NIW TSRIF Enzo, le weekend de Montalegre a été un succès pour les Belges : Kobe champion en Euro RX3 et vous qui remportez une manche en Euro RX. Une excellente performance ! « En effet, c’est un sentiment fantastique de remporter une course de championnat européen.

L’équipe et moi-même avons investi beaucoup de temps et d’énergie tout au long de l’année.

Remporter une victoire est donc très gratifiant, on la savoure. » La prochaine manche est à Spa-Francorchamps, avec seulement trois points de retard sur la deuxième place, vous pouvez viser l’argent ! « Avec l’équipe, nous allons tout faire pour décrocher l’argent. Mais il ne faut pas oublier que celui qui occupe actuellement la deuxième place est un pilote très expérimenté. Lui aussi va tout faire pour terminer deuxième du championnat. » Que pensez-vous de Spa-Francorchamps, le circuit, comment voyez-vous la course ? « C’est vraiment chouette d’avoir un circuit de rallycross en Belgique. SpaFrancorchamps est un circuit légendaire, ça fait encore plus d’effet de pouvoir y courir en rallycross. J’ai déjà couru deux fois sur le circuit RX et je dois dire que c’est un très chouette circuit. La vitesse depuis l’Eau Rouge jusqu’au sommet du Raidillon est fantastique. »

Enzo, last weekend in Montalegre was a success for the Belgians: Kobe Euro RX3 champion and you winning a round of Euro RX. A great achievement!

“Yes, it is a great feeling to win a race in the European Championship. The team and I have put a lot of time and energy into it throughout the year. A victory brings a lot of satisfaction and delight.”

Next round, Spa-Francorchamps, with only three points behind second place, you can aim for silver!

“Myself and the team will do all they can to win silver. And don’t forget, the pilot who is 2nd now is a pilot with a lot of experience.

He will also do all he can to be 2nd in the championship. We beat him in Portugal so we will try to do the same in my home race.”

What is your opinion of Spa-Francorchamps, the circuit; how you do see the race?

“It is very nice that a rally cross circuit has been added in Belgium.

Spa-Francorchamps is a legendary circuit, which makes it even more fun to have a rally cross race there. I have already done 2 the RX circuit twice and I must say it is a great track. The speed through Eau rouge to the top of the Raidillion is fantastic.”

ROOKIE ON THE TOP !

Viktor, une première année en RX2e et quelle saison jusqu’à présent ! Quel est votre ressenti sur cette saison ? « Cette première année se passe bien mieux que je ne m’y attendais. Nous sommes parvenus à chaque fois à décrocher une place sur le podium, c’est quelque chose dont je n’aurais pas osé rêver en entamant la saison ! Ma victoire la plus mémorable, c’était ma toute première victoire, et puis ensuite Höljes, en Suède, la Mecque du rallycross ! C’était un rêve qui se réalise. L’émotion juste après cette victoire, je ne l’oublierai jamais !»

Vous roulez dans une série électrique, que pouvez-vous nous en dire, quel est votre feeling par rapport à cette voiture ? « Dans cette série, les voitures sont toutes identiques au niveau puissance, ce qui met donc l’accent sur les talents du pilote et l'inventivité de l’équipe qui doit déterminer la meilleure stratégie et le setup optimal. Ce qui fait tout l’attrait de cette voiture, c’est qu'on peut jouer sur les fonctions supplémentaires, mais c’est surtout la réactivité qui est formidable ! On a l’impression d’être dans un grand huit électrique, vous enfoncez la pédale de gaz et l’accélération se poursuit, encore et encore !»

Spa-Francorchamps sera une primeur pour vous, qu’attendez-vous de cette course? « Comme toujours, je pars sans grandes attentes. C’est un circuit où je n’ai jamais roulé, mais j’ai confiance. Comme d’habitude, je vais faire de mon mieux pour décrocher la meilleure place possible. Cette fois à domicile, avec un vaste public de fans et de supporters venus spécialement pour me voir courir, cela donne une motivation supplémentaire et Guillaume de Ridder est un excellent spotter avec qui j’ai énormément appris. Il a tellement d’expérience et il trouve toujours les mots pour me motiver et m’aider à garder mon calme avant chaque course. Nous passons beaucoup de temps en préparatifs, mais pendant les courses aussi, ses directives sont réfléchies et efficaces. Sa connaissance de Spa sera un plus ! »

Viktor, first year in RX2e and what a season so far! What is your feeling about this season?

“My debut year is going so much better than initially expected.

We have already managed to get a podium finish every time.

I could never have dreamed of that at the beginning of the season! My most memorable victory was my first ever in Höljes, Sweden, the mecca of rallycross! That was a dream come true. I will never forget the emotion right after that victory!”

You compete in an electric series. What can you tell us about it, what are the feelings about this car?

“In this series all the cars are identical in terms of power, so that puts the emphasis on the skills of the driver and the ingenuity of the team that has to determine the best strategy and setup.

What makes this car fun is that you can play around with the extra features, but it is mostly the instant power that is so great!

It feels like you’re on an electric roller coaster; you step on the gas pedal and it just keeps accelerating!”

Spa-Francorchamps will be a first for you, what do you expect from this race?

“I leave without high expectations, as always. I haven’t driven here yet, but I’m confident. I will do my utmost to fight for the best possible place again. This time in my own country, with a lot of fans and supporters who have come specially to see me ride.

That already gives me extra motivation. Guillaume de Ridder is an excellent coach and spotter that I've already learned so much from. He has so much more experience and knows how to keep me motivated and calm for each race every time. We spend a lot of time preparing, but he also provides the best guidelines during the races. His best advice every time ... the gas pedal is on the right!”
