INTRODUCING UNBEATEN 2YO NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) 2021 COLT BY CALYX (GB) x LOVELOCKS (IRE) TIMEFORM RATED 86p OF HIS STUNNING DEBUT WIN RACE RECORD: 1 STARTS 1-0-0 - $30,232.00
ABOUT NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) 2021 COLT I’m very excited to offer you an unbeaten 2yo colt YES UNBEATEN ! closely related to Aussie superstar Gr1 winner AMELIAS JEWEL. An opportunity to race a colt who won so impressively on debut. NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) wasn’t expected to deliver in a race that had such good form in it but deliver he did in the most spectacular way. Jumping away and toiling towards the end field over the 1000m at Beverley, he was always in good stride and unleashed with a witheringly burst to get up, winning running away. Timeform gave him a high 86p that’s what they thought of his winning debut performance. After much negotiation we are thrilled to secure 50% with the owners very firm to retain the other 50%. By exciting UNBEATEN GROUP WINNING 2YO and now a leading 1st crop sire CALYX ,NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) has quickly shown his sires electric finish and speed. A good sized colt full of quality, very attractive, has an intelligent head with the look of a high class runner. NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) is a well-balanced colt with clean limbs. A lovely smooth moving colt and a near perfect physical, NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) owns a lovely length of hip and well sprung gaskin which obviously drove the power behind his finishing burst. His pedigree suggests he will appreciate further as he matures and develops which is quite exciting considering what he was able to do on debut. There is so much to love about this colt and with the ability NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE) has already shown winning on debut it makes sense to aim him at Royal Ascot.
Stuart Boman's Thoughts on NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE)
Nellie Leylax won well on debut at Beverly over five furlongs. He was awkwardly drawn and slowly away and settled a long way out of his ground. He closed strongly to score with plenty in reserve from what looked an impossible position to win. He was a little green on the way to the start and also in the race and will come on a lot with the experience of today’s run. There are no barrier trials in the UK so this was his first racecourse experience. I thought his gallop out was visually good. Despite the race being of low standard on a smaller track the prize money was good and the field strength based on the form around the couple of horses that had run before was good. The time measured up to all the other races run at the same distance on the day (which were older horses) and his speed figure of 80 is sound. I saw him as a yearling and quite liked him - he had grown a fair bit since then and is now 15.3hh. Being out of a High Chaparral mare you would think he will get at lead 1400m if not 1600m in time. His action is slightly roundish but is long to the eye. Overall a sound debut performance and one that he should build on heading towards Royal Ascot.
Nathan’s thoughts on NELLIE LEYLAX (IRE)
“I’m really excited guys to offer you a colt who was stunning on debut winning so impressively and he looks ideal to aim to run him at Royal Ascot” “The idea came to me with having The Astrologist and Ardakan running this year at Royal Ascot, I thought why not try something different with the potential to offer more of our Bennett Racing owners that same opportunity as their owners! “ “Its an exciting venture for all to embrace really with this unbeaten 2yo colt who quite clearly showed on debut he has what it takes and with so much untapped potential ahead” “ I feel he is the right colt to run for us all at Royal Ascot and possibly a 3yo for a Dubai Racing Carnival.” "The colt showed signs of inexperience when asked to quicken, but the penny appeared to drop approaching the final furlong, when he produced an impressive turn of foot. Running on strongly, he led close home to beat the favourite by half a length, with another five and a half lengths back to the third and that horse Ponga ran 2nd on debut to Action Point beaten 1.25L. Action Point has since ran at Ascot finishing 2nd beaten 2.25L by the impressive and unbeaten Maximum Impact."

RACING POST ANALYSIS
NELLIE LEYLAX, a 20,000euros half-brother to two winners at up to 10.5f, put up an amazing performance to win this. Near the back early after a tardy start, he looked to face an impossible task for most of the way, but he really took off inside the last furlong and swept past the runner-up (who had gone clear) close to the line. Considering the placed horse had both finished second on their respective debuts, this looks solid form and he looks a useful prospect. Scoops Ahoy, clear of the third when runner-up on his debut over C&D 12 days earlier, enjoyed the run of the race from the front and the prize looked his when he pulled further clear inside the last furlong, but he could do nothing about the winner's whirlwind finish. It's probably best to measure this effort through how far clear he was of the rest and he should soon be winning. Ponga, runner up on his Kempton debut three weeks earlier (form working out well), soon held a good position on the shoulder of the runner-up but he didn't seem to quite get home. The stiffer track and soft ground may have found him out. Port And Starburd ran well for a long way on her debut, especially given her wide draw. Out of an unraced half-sister to Listed-placed 6.5f-7.5f winner Yeah Baby Yeah (RPR 96) and an Italian Listed hurdle winner, this was something to build on. Bazball, a 10,000euros sister to Italian Listed-placed 6.7f-1m winner Keniote (including 2yo; RPR 97), hinted at ability and gave the impression that the experience wouldn't be lost. Stamper, a 22,000euros brother to two winners including Bint Dandy (7f/1m including AW; RPR 102), started slowly from the outside stall but he did show a little ability as the race progressed. He can do better. Match That, sent off favourite when fourth on her Redcar debut a fortnight earlier (runner-up has won since), held a good early position but didn't get home. She comes from a successful family so may yet come good. [Dave Bellingham]
