ABOUT CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (IRE)

I’m very excited to offer you CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (IRE) he is the REAL DEAL!

A HORSE CAPABLE OF WINNING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD

A 3 time winner – twice at GROUP level. Showed immense talent and ran a creditable 5th in the MOST HIGHLY SORT AFTER RACE IN THE WORLD. By the GREATEST stallion the WORLD has ever known. From a family DEEP with GR1 WINNERS.

His Last 5 starts have all been at GR1 – GR2 or GR3 LEVEL winning twice and placing twice! An outstanding individual oozing quality. Deep girth, quality limbs and a beautiful stayer’s action. Breaking his maiden at his 4th start, CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD would only ever race again in GROUP races!

His 5th start was the time honoured G3 Chester Vase where he made all the pace from in front. Stacked them up and then sprinted away again. Here he showed all the right signs to have a crack at the most revered race in the world the 2022 Gr1 English Derby at Epsom Downs. Unfortunately he was caught wide throughout but still finished a respectable 5th. This would be the last time in his last 3 starts that he would not finish top 3!

Heading off to the Gr2 King Edward VII Stks over 2400m just 13 days later after his torrid Derby run, CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD again pressed on for the lead and showed great fight and determination to hold them all at bay. The colt was spelled after this run remembering he had started his campaign with a maiden win at Dundalk, won a Chester Vase, competed in a Gr1 English Derby then backed up to win a King Edward VII – quite a feat in just his 2nd prep.

Given a good break CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD resumed in the Gr3 Ormonde Stks again at Chester 11th May 2023. After running out at the start he took over and led up a quality field but obviously needed the run and finished a 3’75L 3rd.

His last start on 24 June at Royal Ascot was a remarkable effort but possibly for all the wrong reasons The time honoured Gr2 Hardwick Stks bought a good field of high quality horses. The colt jumped well and led early but Ryan Moore had no hesitation after a couple of furlongs to sit him outside the leader. He travelled into the Ascot straight in good rhythm

CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD and as Ryan went for him inside the final furlong, the eventual winner ducked sharply towards the rails and severely hammered him. CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD would end up running a highly creditable 3rd beaten only 2.25L. Unlucky not to win for sure.

Stuart Boman's Thoughts on CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (IRE)

High class four-year-old who is lightly raced and generally progressive He is a great type - lots of quality and athletic and has a great pedigree with a good blend of stamina on the paternal side and speed on the dam side. Improved dramatically from two to three and put in some really good efforts as a three-year-old headed by a win in the King Edward VII (Gr 2) at Royal Ascot last year.

Given a long break between three and four and has returned in career best form finishing an unlucky third (checked significantly in the straight) in the Hardwicke Stakes (Gr 2) at Royal Ascot

Versatile with regards to ground having won on very soft ground and firm ground. Generally races on the pace. Big slow stride and stays well. Best placed at 2400m and should be able to stay 3200m in Australia

The ideal type of horse to travel internationally and target races abroad (list attached) including big targets in USA, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. Races like the Tancred Stakes (Gr 1) and the Sydney Cup (Gr 1) in the Sydney Autumn Carnival would be very suitable races in Australia. This horse has been on my radar for over 12 months and I would love to land him for the Bennett Racing Team.

Nathan’s thoughts on CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (IRE)

High class horse who has been right on the heals of some of the Uks best stayers and put in some really good efforts as a 3YO headed by a win in the King Edward VII (Gr 2) at Royal Ascot last year. Given a long break between three and four and has returned in career best form finishing in unlucky third in the Hardwick Stakes (Gr 2) at Royal Ascot he was hampered by the 2 time Group 1 winner Pyledriver it looked like he was going to fight it out against him, worth noting he beat home last years

Melbourne Cup 4th Deauville Legend. The form in all his races just stacks right up with Gr1 horses like Hamish, New London. Versatile with regards to ground has won on very soft ground and firm ground. Generally races on the pace. Big long stride and uses him self well. Stays well and is very tough. Looks an ideal 2400m - 3200m type of horses in Australia. Can sustain a long run which is required in Australia. Our aim would is to go for the Sword Dancer at Saratoga It is a win and your in race for the Breeder's Cup Turf. If he won there you would go for the BC Turf. Could then take in Hong Kong at the end of the year and then to either Dubai or Aus next year. Definitely one to take to Aus for the Championships and then could leave him there after travelling for the rest of this year and target the cups in Melb Spring 2024 . Joseph Obrien would be a great fit while he is on the road for this high class stayer who has just ran a PB at Royal Ascot and the options are endless for this fella. Once in Australia Annabel Neasham will Train.
