When you think of things that are wild, you may think of the memoir by Cheryl Strayed or the NHL team that hails from Minnesota. Perhaps, your mind wanders to the great unknownthe vast wildernesses of the world filled with untamed creatures. Or maybe you are thinking about the wild education your child is receiving at The Benjamin School. This year’s BASH theme has us all making a list of why we are so wild about TBS!
If teachers are at the top of your list, you are in good company. Our educators are masters of their craft who manage to engage and inspire each student, each day. We are truly wild about them. What about our exceptional athletic and art programs? Our students are given every opportunity to explore, participate, and shine, and I know we are all wild about that! If you are looking for more things that are wild, just venture into a WOW classroom during music and movement class or squeeze into the gym for a Buccaneer volleyball game. Benjamin is a community that welcomes all of that wild energy and channels it into creative and innovative learning experiences.
Tonight, we celebrate the generosity of our Honorary Chairs, Rich and Tiffany Augustyn. Thank you for your dedication to our school. None of this would be possible without the extraordinary dedication of Matt and Christina Nihan and David and Kaitlyn Axelrod. Your Co-Chairs have worked tirelessly to deliver a night filled with wild surprises, and I am grateful for their leadership.
With wild appreciation,

Dear Benjamin Community,
Tonight, as we gather at the 2024 BASH Gala, we are excited to share in the collective spirit that makes Benjamin so special. While we are honored by the recognition as Honorary Chairs, it is truly the entire Benjamin community – parents, teachers, staff, and our amazing students – who deserve the spotlight.
This year’s “Call from the Heart” recognizes that underpinning Benjamin’s success are our extraordinary teachers and faculty members. Their dedication goes beyond teaching; they inspire, nurture, and ignite potential, laying the foundation of lives well lived. As parents, we see the impact of our teachers’ commitment every day in the growth and joy of our children. We are thrilled that tonight we have the opportunity to celebrate, recognize, and express our gratitude to such a talented group of individuals.
On this special night we would also like to take the opportunity to recognize fellow Benjamin parents. We are always in awe of how much so many parents commit to the TBS community. Your energy, involvement, and care create a nurturing environment where our children and teachers can thrive, and your dedication is a source of inspiration to us all.
We’d like to extend a special note of gratitude to Mr. Faus and the Board of Trustees. Your leadership and vision have been guiding lights in the TBS journey, steering our school towards new heights.
Finally, we would like to extend heartfelt thanks to tonight’s Co-Chairs – Matthew and Christina Nihan and David and Kaitlyn Axelrod – and the entire volunteer planning team. Your hard work and passion have been instrumental in bringing this wonderful evening to life.
Here’s to a fabulous night ahead in celebration of all that makes Benjamin so exceptional.
Rich & Tiffany Augustyn Honorary ChairsTo our wildly supportive and generous community, It has been an incredibly exciting year preparing for BASH 2024. We would like to thank the Benjamin community, from the bottom of our hearts, for their time, dedication, and steadfast support. It is the individuals on our BASH committee, 150 parents strong, that have made this evening possible. Led by our amazing subcommittee Co-Chairs, each committee member listed in this program has volunteered his or her time and resources to make this fundraising effort a wild success. We have been humbled from day one by their resounding and genuine commitment.
The enthusiastic and unwavering dedication of our TBS community is the reason why this evening is already a success. At every turn we have been met with unsolicited offerings of “What can we do to help?” There were countless instances when we reached out to have an immediate response of “Yes! Anything we can do, just say the word!” Every time our community steps up, we see firsthand the enormous amount of pride and gratitude felt in being a part of The Benjamin School. This generous and sincere commitment to our school is, without a doubt, second to none.
In addition to our volunteers, we’d like to recognize the hard work and the daily support our entire committee has received from our invaluable TBS Development Team, specifically Sheena Wilber and Kristin Maltese. Their guidance, diligence, and time have been incalculable to us and to the success of this event. We are all in this room tonight thanks to the thoroughness and professionalism they have put into BASH. We are beyond grateful for Sheena and Kristin.
We would also like to thank our wonderful honorary Co-Chairs, Rich and Tiffany Augustyn, who have been generous supporters of The Benjamin School. In addition to hosting the annual faculty and staff holiday party at their home this past year, the Augustyns are staunch advocates for educators year round. Their generosity over the years continues to make a positive impact on the Benjamin community.
And tonight, we have an opportunity to continue to show our appreciation for our faculty and staff through the Call From the Heart. TBS faculty and staff are the backbone of our children’s robust, personal, and exceptional school experience. Their love for our students is evident every single day and there is no doubt that they are as wild about Benjamin as we are about them! This is the perfect opportunity to show our commitment and appreciation for all that they do and all that they mean to us.
We are all absolutely and positively WILD about Benjamin. It has been a true honor and a privilege to Co-Chair this evening’s event and we are so excited to be able to gather, toast, dine, and celebrate our beloved Benjamin together.
Here’s to our faculty, staff, coaches, students, parents, alumni, and future Benjamin Bucswe are wild about you all.

Faculty and staff are the heartbeat of a TBS education. Let’s show our wonderful community of educators how WILD we are about them and the role they play in our children’s lives.
