MR. DAVID FAUS
Welcome to our outer-worldly celebration, BASH 2025!
Captained by our stellar co-chairs, David and Kaitlyn Axelrod and Justin and Cynthia Roemer, our intergalactic mission has led us to the ballroom of PGA National tonight for our 40th annual BASH Gala.
I would like to thank the entire BASH committee for mapping our journey to the stars. I would also like to acknowledge the development team who have been diligently manning mission control. It takes many months of work to put together an event like this, and I know our guests join me in gratitude for all their hard work.
It is a great privilege to have our school’s founders’ daughter, Susy Benjamin ‘87, along with her husband, Greg Fagan, serving as Honorary Chairs. As the parents of two Benjamin alumnae, parents-in-law to a Benjamin alumnus, and grandparents, this family continues to embrace and reflect the vision created by Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin more than sixty-five years ago.
I hope you bid high and often tonight as you never know when an unidentified extra-terrestrial might swoop in and take your favorite auction item. And before you head out to the cosmic dance floor, please pay attention and raise your bidder paddle for our “Call From The Heart” which will help fund innovative new programs for students in every division.
Thank you for supporting Benjamin in all ways!

Welcome to the 40th anniversary of the BASH Gala, celebrating TBS traditions from 1960 through 2025. Greg and I are elated to serve as Honorary Chairs. We are very thankful to David & Kaitlyn Axelrod and Justin ‘02 & Cynthia Roemer for their incredible work and passion for TBS. Thank you so much to our 2025 BASH committee who made this memorable night possible.
My parents, Marshall and Nancy, would be thrilled to see how their vision has been continuously recreated to meet modern day educational standards. My relationship with TBS started when it was called North Palm Beach Private School, the name my dad originally gave the school before the board outvoted him and changed it to The Benjamin School (which was always a good laugh around our house!) My earliest memories of TBS were learning to read in the quaint little school house that presently serves as Mr. Faus’s office. I encourage you to go take a peek if you have not been inside.
I also enjoyed time by the fish pond where my parents, known as Mr. and Mrs.B, met with eager applicants. As I moved into my grade school years, days of learning were also rewarded with surprise trips to the ice cream store with my dad if a group of students broke their bad habits for a few weeks. Evenings at home were spent cooking up batches of Cracker Jack for my mom’s English class as a reward for their weekly poetry recitation. Most nights, my parents could be overheard discussing how to make the school a better place for the children. Weekends were often spent walking through the campus, throwing a football to a child and father playing on the field, or tending to my dad’s nursery on the property. We have the beautiful banyan trees in the lower school because he didn’t believe in cutting trees down unless absolutely necessary, and he would always choose to build around them if he could.
Mr. and Mrs. B would be so proud that the whisper of the banyan trees is still heard while children read in their shade. They would love that the resounding clang of the bell still tolls each morning and that classic poetry is still taught and recited. They would be encouraged by the roars and cheers of the parents at the sporting events. Although their dreams were big, I don’t think they realized that the idea of starting a small private school in sunny Florida would lead to the ultimate success TBS is today.
I love that my daughter Chloe ‘12 was able to experience life as a student at The Benjamin School, just like my brother and me. Now, our three grandchildren, Miles ‘34, Ivy ‘38, and Ellie ‘38, are on their journeys at TBS. My hope is that they create new traditions while participating in the old traditions of the school.
There are so many people in this community that are responsible for making TBS Nulli Secundus. We would like to thank Mr. Faus for jumping in during Covid (and getting to know everybody via Zoom). He’s done an amazing job over the last few years. We have a special place in our hearts for the faculty and staff as they are responsible for keeping the heart of the school beating. Thank you to the Board of Trustees for their dedication and hard work. Thank you to the parents of the school that prioritize their children’s learning and strive to teach them all the TBS principles while at home. The Benjamin community is strong thanks to each and every one of you. My parents are here in spirit and are so proud of TBS.
Cheers to a fabulous night ahead and memories that will be made,
Susy
Benjamin ‘87 & Greg Fagan
DAVID AND KAITLYN AXELROD – JUSTIN ‘02 AND CYNTHIA ROEMER
To our All-Star Parents and Friends of The Benjamin School,
It’s hard to believe that 40 years have passed since The Benjamin School hosted its inaugural BASH fundraising gala. What began as the “Auction Express” has evolved into one of the most anticipated, memorable, and important nights of the year for our school. It’s truly awe-inspiring to see that, fourdecades later, BASH continues to have a significant impact by raising important operational funds that directly support our students, staff, and programming.
It’s been an honor and an adventure to plan BASH 2025! We are deeply grateful to all those who have helped shape this event over the past forty years and celebrate the tireless commitment and hard work of our current volunteers. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our sub-committee chairs and their dedicated teams made up of over 150 parents, who have spent countless hours ensuring that BASH 2025 is a huge success. Additionally, we thank our lucky stars for our devoted Benjamin community who have lent their support through connections, ideas, donations, sponsorships, advertisements, and encouragement. This generosity and unwavering devotion is what makes TBS truly Out of this World!
institution that is anchored in hard work, excellent education, nurturing community, compassion, and kindness. This family shaped The Benjamin School into what it is today, and we are over the moon to have their presence and support at BASH 2025.
Tonight we have the opportunity to carry on the Benjamin family legacy and provide our students with access to the most innovative educational programs and state-of-the-art technologies that will open up new worlds and limitless opportunities for our young minds. This year’s Call From The Heart supports innovative programs that will impact every child and greatly enhance the student experience across all three divisions. Providing advanced curriculum, state-of-the-art tools, and innovative programming yet to be seen on other independent school campuses, is what makes TBS second to none. Let’s set our children up for success by providing them these stellar resources that will inspire, educate, and allow them to chart new innovative paths.
We’d like to recognize the backbone of this operation — the Development Team. Thank you to Kristin Maltese, Juan Carlos Fanjul ‘93, Sammy Atkinson, and Sydney DeVogt. Working closely with these team members over the past year has been a privilege, and we’ve been continually inspired by their support, guidance, positivity, and patience.
Finally, we thank our Honorary Co-Chairs, Susy Benjamin ‘87 and Greg Fagan, for their continued commitment and support of our school. Susy’s parents, Marshall and Nancy Benjamin, founded an
We truly believe that the possibilities for success at TBS are endless. Thank you for the opportunity to co-chair this important event and to celebrate our wonderful school and community. Our pride and passion for Benjamin extend to the moon and back. While we commemorate forty years of BASH, let’s also think of the future and what we can do now to make TBS the best it can be.
Let’s reach for the stars by raising our glasses and paddles high!

Anchored in a traditional education that develops the whole child, The Benjamin School also believes in bringing new and distinctive elements to our curriculum. This year’s BASH
“Call From The Heart” supports innovative programs that will impact every child and greatly enhance the student experience across all three divisions.
As we prioritize more play-based learning for our youngest Buccaneers, we are enhancing our play areas to support this initiative. These new sensory play additions will foster team building and problem solving. Among the new items being considered: a Rockwell Teeter Quad (a re-imagined seesaw with elements of a spring bouncer), a Ten Spin (that allows up to ten children to play together), and a Momentum Corridor (a unique rolling table experience). To promote more outdoor exploration, some areas will be enhanced with outdoor seating, artificial turf, and extra shade protection.
A new middle school program is taking to the skies and elevating our STEM curriculum to new heights! Students will be using a fleet of sixteen new drones controlled by VR headsets and powered by special iPhones. Using these high-end headsets, students will be able to immersively view the drones and code them.
The Upper School is proud to announce the planned addition of an Anatomage Table to its curriculum. Used predominantly in higher education research settings, the 6-foot-long table’s software features fully segmented cadavers in 3D, enabling an in-depth study of all eleven body systems. As the world’s most advanced, real-human-based medical platform, this tool allows students to observe physiological motions and processes in real time, far surpassing the traditional limitations of static cadaver studies. This immersive learning experience will allow students to dive deep into real-world healthcare scenarios and prepare them for college and beyond.
