Accountants supports African student to reach dream
A Hoddesdon accountants is supporting a 21-year-old student from Zambia with her dream of becoming an internationally recognised accountant.
Growing up in a family of six with limited resources, Gertrude’s parents work hard selling local foods in the market to make ends meet. Despite financial challenges, Gertrude excelled in school, winning numerous awards. With HB Accountants’ sponsorship, she is now pursuing her business administration Bachelor’s degree in in accounting and finance, and is able to envision a future where she can elevate her family out of poverty and serve as a role model for others in her community.
HB Accountants’ partnership with The African Impact Foundation has made this sponsorship possible. The Foundation, a valued charity client of HB Accountants, increases access to education and supports young people, especially young women, to overcome economic barriers. Through the foundation, Gertrude has received vital resources, including educational fees, learning materials and school facilities.
She said: “To have HB Accountants supporting me is like a driving force that is giving me hope. Their sponsorship helps me believe that my goals are within reach. I want to make a real difference, not just for my family, but for my community, inspiring others to believe that a better future is possible.”
HB Accountants has invested in the professional development of young people for over 12 years, with a successful apprenticeship scheme in the UK that has already helped 16 apprentices flourish and advance into successful careers within and outside of accountancy. HB’s support for Gertrude is the start of the extension of this commitment, one that bridges international communities and creates opportunities for young talent worldwide.
It also showcases HB’s dedication to fostering positive impact through education and community support.
