Awards guests raise more than £6,300 for community causes

The Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce held a raffle, with prizes including dinner for two at Sopwell House and a family pass for Paradise Wildlife Park, at the Inspiring Herts Awards to raise money for Hertfordshire Community Foundation (HCF).

The umbrella organisation provides philanthropy advice for individuals, families, businesses and charities, as well as funding and other support for groups and individuals.

Donna Schultz, Commercial Director of the Chamber , said: “The fantastic result of our raffle exceeded all our expectations.

“This remarkable total stands as testament to the generosity and support of the members of the business community who supported our wonderful Inspiring Herts Awards evening.

“We are delighted to provide funding to the HCF again and we extend our thanks to everyone who participated, from those who purchased raffle tickets to the businesses who kindly donated prizes.”

The foundation was announced as the Chamber’s chosen charity in March 2022 as part of a three-year partnership that also includes helping raise its profile across the county.

Paul Robin, CEO of HCF, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Hertfordshire

Chamber of Commerce and all those who generously contributed to the raffle.

“The need for HCF’s support has surged exponentially in the wake of the pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

“It is only through the support of our local community, including dedicated individuals and businesses, that HCF can continue to offer vital funding to the small Hertfordshire charities that are providing significant positive change for those who need it most.”

Around 350 people attended the annual Inspiring Herts Awards, dubbed ‘The Oscars of Hertfordshire’, in June. The event, which started in 2012, celebrates the outstanding achievements of local businesses and charities.
