‘Knowing that Lanop helps shape success stories keeps me striving for excellence’

Digital accountancy firm, Lanop Business & Tax Advisors, has grown exponentially over the past four years.
Established in 2009, the company is based in Putney with offices in Pakistan and Dubai. It has expanded its services to cater to the entire lifecycle of a business – from start-up support and tax planning to financial strategy and international expansion.
To support their clients and offer a one-stop shop, Zaib has also founded A8OM (pronounced Atom), which offers tailored marketing solutions for accountancy and law firms, Dubai Business & Tax Advisors (DBTA) specializes in business setup and tax consultancy in the UAE, offering support with tax compliance, governance, and helping businesses expand between the UAE, UK, EU, and US. Additionally, Eco Outsourcing offers outsourcing solutions for accountancy firms, including bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation, audit support, and IT support.
“Our growth is a testament to our ability to adapt, our investment in technology, and the trust our clients place in us,” says Aurangzaib, known as Zaib.
“Although exponential growth is a blessing, it comes with its own set of challenges such as managing cash flow, scaling operation and navigating complex tax implications.
By providing integrated services like accounting, tax advisory, marketing and IT solutions, we eliminate the need for multiple service providers. This holistic approach ensures business have the right support at every stage of their journey.”
When a client needed some support with setting up in Dubai, he asked Zaib for his help and in doing so, he spotted a gap in the market.
“Dubai is a strategic hub for global trade and investment,” he says.
"We noticed a growing trend of UK and EU businesses relocating to Dubai due to its tax efficiency, robust infrastructure, and businessfriendly environment. Through Dubai Business & Tax Advisors (DBTA), we’ve been able to provide on-the-ground support for clients exploring opportunities in the Middle East, from company formations to property investments.
“The opportunities in Dubai are immense –tax-free earnings, high ROI on real estate and a growing consumer market. However, navigating local regulations and establishing a foothold can be daunting. That’s where we step in, offering comprehensive services including company setup and legal support. Our aim is to make the transition seamless and rewarding for our clients.
“Off-plan properties in Dubai offer excellent returns through rental income and appreciation. My advice to investors is to research thoroughly, choose projects by reputable developers and understand the payment plans.”
Lanop’s expansion into Dubai is just one example of how the firm stays ahead of the curve.
Recognizing the advantages of adopting digital solutions and remote working long before the COVID-19 pandemic, Zaib implemented advanced technologies that enabled seamless operations across borders and ensured business continuity during challenging times.
Zaib, originally from Pakistan, came to the UK as a student before settling here and building his business. He has always embraced technology and remote working solutions to stay connected with his teams globally.

"Our London office is fully staffed and operates every day, providing the same high-quality service our clients expect," he says.
"Years before COVID, I invested in real-time collaboration tools, cybersecurity, and robust systems, which allowed us to be COVID-ready when other firms were struggling. Our Pakistan office complements our UK and UAE operations by providing back-office support, enabling us to serve clients seamlessly across borders."
AI was the business highlight of 2024 for Zaib who said the rise of artificial intelligence is a useful tool to streamline efficiency for businesses.
“We have embraced cloud-based accounting, AI-driven analytics and automation to deliver faster and more accurate services,” he says.

“Innovation is at the heart of our approach –helping clients make data-driven decisions and stay ahead in a competitive market.
“One of the biggest challenges faced by businesses looking to scale is the lack of foresight in financial planning and compliance.
“Many businesses underestimate the complexities of scaling, especially across borders. At Lanop, we focus on robust financial forecasting, tax-efficient strategies, and operational streamlining, enabling our clients to scale confidently and sustainably.”
Having made confident strides into the Dubai market, it does not mean that Zaib and Lanop have turned their attention away from the local business market.
“We have 1,000 local clients; they’re our bread and butter,” he explains.
“In Dubai, I would say we have between 30 and 40 clients. I am proud of the connections we have in Wandsworth and with Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce.”
Lanop is a Patron member and joined Wandsworth Chamber in 2016 and started Putney Business Hub with the Chamber in 2019. Putney Business Hub promotes businesses in Putney and the surrounding areas while providing mentorship to start-ups.
“I joined Wandsworth Chamber because I have been a huge advocate for networking since I started my own business,” he adds.
“People can look at networking as an opportunity to get sales and leads, but I go to talk to likeminded service providers. As business owners, we’re all business development officers and have a great synergy. You’re all looking for clients but by getting to know each other, you can refer them and help each other secure new clients.
"We became Patron members and are the official accountants and financial advisors of the Chamber, providing accountancy, financial, and tax consultation for free to its members as our way to give back to the local business community."

Zaib is a regular public speaker and provides mentorship to other accountancy firm owners. He also sits on the boards of various corporates and multi-national start-ups.
With 15 years’ experience of running his own business and broadening his portfolio to include complementary companies, he has the following advice to aspiring entrepreneurs: “Stay curious and adaptable."

“Challenges are opportunities in disguise. Build a strong network and never stop learning. You’re only as strong as the people and knowledge around you.
“It’s not easy juggling multiple geographies, businesses and family life, but I prioritise quality over quantity in both work and family life. Setting clear boundaries and delegating effectively has been crucial. When I’m with my family, I ensure I’m fully present.
“The satisfaction of helping businesses grow and thrive drives me. Knowing that Lanop plays a role in shaping success stories is incredibly fulfilling. It’s what keeps me striving for excellence.”
