Welcome to Business Connexions the official

for Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce

As we move through the early part of the year, it has already been a busy and productive start for Wandsworth Chamber, with a strong calendar of activity designed to connect, support, and inspire our business community.

In the first quarter alone, we delivered 13 events across the borough, bringing together businesses in a wide variety of settings and formats. From our Business Networking Evening at the House of Commons, to a valuable session with Russell Cooke on estate planning, to a fantastic Big Breakfast featuring Naz Hussain, Director of Growth & Place at Wandsworth & Richmond Council, the breadth of topics reflects the diverse needs and interests of our members.

experiences created space not only for learning, but for reflection. It was encouraging to see attendees engaging so openly — both with the speakers and with each other — as they considered their own leadership journeys.

only practical support and insight, but also perspective and encouragement. While much may feel outside of our control, there is always value in focusing on what we can influence — strengthening relationships, sharing knowledge, and continuing to move forward with purpose.

Alongside these, our Mix & Mingle events took place across four locations in the borough, helping us spread the word about this year’s Wandsworth Business Awards. We were delighted to receive 171 applications — a fantastic response and a testament to the strength, ambition, and resilience of businesses across our community. Judging will take place throughout April and May, and we look forward to celebrating our finalists and winners at the Clapham Grand on 10th June. We were also proud to launch the Wandsworth Chamber Women in Business network at the Park Hyatt River Thames. It was a fantastic event, bringing together inspiring female leaders whose insights and

Supporting the next generation of talent continues to be a priority for the Chamber. We were pleased to partner once again with South Thames College for the Business Connexions front cover competition. Visiting the students to brief them on the opportunity was a real highlight, and we are proud to play a part in supporting their development and creativity for a second year running.

Alongside all of this activity, we are mindful that businesses continue to operate within a challenging and evolving economic landscape. Ongoing global uncertainty and rising costs are creating pressure across many sectors, and we recognise that for many, the environment remains demanding. At times like these, the value of strong networks and supportive communities becomes even more important. Being part of a trusted business network can provide not

We remain committed to supporting our members through both opportunities and challenges, and we look forward to continuing to connect, collaborate, and champion the businesses that make our borough so vibrant.

Spring-clean your routine and refresh your business for the season ahead

Spring

has always been the season of fresh starts. Lighter mornings and evenings return and with them the energy we thought winter had stolen from us. For businesses across Wandsworth – whether you’re running a café in Balham, leading a tech scale-up in Battersea, or steering a consultancy from Tooting – spring offers the ideal moment to pause, reset and re-energise.

Renewal isn’t just nature’s speciality. It’s also one of the smartest strategies for growth.

In this issue of Business Connexions, we explore how local business leaders can use the season to shake off stale habits, refine processes, reconnect with customers and rediscover their spark. Think of it as a spring clean, but for your strategy, your systems and your mindset.

After the intensity of the first quarter, many business owners find themselves running on autopilot. Spring is an ideal time to step back and ask: Is the way I’m working actually working?

A few simple resets can make an immediate difference:

1. Audit your time

Take a week to track where your hours go. You’ll often discover hidden drains – tasks that can be automated, delegated or even deleted. Freeing up just 90 minutes a day can create the headspace for innovation, planning and bigger-picture thinking.

2. Reintroduce structure

Winter often leads to flexible (read: drifting) routines. Re-establishing boundaries, such as set start times, protected focus hours, and meeting-free afternoons, can sharpen productivity instantly.

3. Review your goals

Has anything changed since January? Markets shift, staff roles evolve, customer needs move. Re-tuning your goals keeps you agile and aligned.

Spring is also a natural reset point for revenue generation. With consumer confidence beginning to warm, now is the time to refresh your approach to sales and customer engagement.

1. Reconnect with existing customers

It costs five times more to attract a new customer than retain an existing one. A simple check-in message, value-add email, or loyalty reward can reignite relationships and remind them why they chose you in the first place.

2. Refresh your offer

Could a seasonal package, a limited-time service bundle or a spring promotion catch attention? People are more receptive to change at this time of year, so make the most of that mindset.

Just as we clear cupboards in spring, businesses should clear the operational clutter.

3. Re-energise your marketing

Whether you’re looking for new clients, fresh ideas or just a sense of shared momentum, re-engaging with your network can be just as powerful as any internal refresh.

Take a look at your website, your LinkedIn presence, and your social media tone. Is it still aligned with what you offer today? Even small updates, including a clearer call to action, refreshed imagery, or a more human voice, can improve engagement.

Just as we clear cupboards in spring, businesses should clear the operational clutter.

1. Simplify processes

Are there steps in your workflow no one can remember the purpose of? Legacy systems people work around rather than with? Now is the moment to simplify, streamline and scrap anything that slows progress.

2. Refresh your tech stack

Digital tools evolve quickly. Reassess what you’re using – does each tool still earn its keep? A lighter, more efficient system reduces cost and frustration.

3. Strengthen internal communication

Spring is a great time to re-align teams, introduce new rhythms (such as monthly huddles or shorter weekly stand-ups) and rebuild momentum after the winter slog.

Businesses grow when leaders grow. Renewal starts with you.

• Reignite curiosity: Attend a networking event (keep an eye on the Chamber website and sign up for events), sign up for a workshop, go hear a speaker you’ve never encountered. Inspiration thrives on variety.

• Protect your energy: Spring encourages movement. A lunchtime walk, a short meditation or even just switching your workspace can lift mood and motivation.

• Reconnect with purpose: Remind yourself why you started this business. Purpose-driven leaders attract purposedriven customers.

It is also a good time to reconnect with your community.

Wandsworth’s business community is one of its greatest assets. Local partnerships, collaborations and Chamber events offer an energy boost you simply can’t get behind a desk.

Whether you’re looking for new clients, fresh ideas or just a sense of shared momentum, re-engaging with your network can be just as powerful as any internal refresh.

Renewal isn’t about reinventing your business from scratch. It’s about polishing what’s working, clearing what’s not, and giving your team – and yourself – the chance to step into the next season lighter, brighter and more focused.

Spring invites us to reset, reframe and rejuvenate. The businesses that embrace that invitation now will be the ones that flourish long after the blossoms have fallen.

After the intensity of the first quarter, many business owners find themselves running on autopilot. Spring is an ideal time to step back and ask: Is the way I’m working actually working?
We asked local business leaders how they plan to refresh their organisation this

spring

Natalie de Silva, CEO, Age UK Wandsworth, said: "I’m currently planning a Wandsworth bungee jump fundraiser as our newest challenge. It’ll be a great opportunity for thrill seekers or those who want to face a fear or just as something new to do! If you’d like to jump and fundraise for Age UK Wandsworth, then please get in touch!”

Andrew Oxby, General

Nightingale Place Village, said: "We all get a bit fed up with the rain, so we are brightening up the gardens and grounds with some new flowers. Our gardener is leading a group of residents, who have chosen some plants and flowers, to make the gardens look vibrant and colourful.”

STC Student Stands Out with Winning Business Connexions Cover Design Competition

South Thames College is celebrating another remarkable achievement as learner Amaya Hill has been awarded first place in the Business Connexions Front Cover Design Competition 2026, hosted by Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce.

Following last year's success with Franmel "Ash" Fernandes, this year's competition challenged a new cohort of creative learners to design the front cover for the spring edition of Business Connexions Magazine, with the compelling theme of 'Renewal and Rejuvenation'.

Amaya's winning design stood out among strong competition and is published on the cover of this issue of the prestigious business magazine, Business Connexions. As first prize, Amaya received a £100 Waterstones voucher, while second place winner Viktoriia Kocherha and third place winner Franmel “Ash” Fernandes were awarded Love2Shop vouchers in recognition of their excellent work.

Reflecting on the achievement, Amaya said: "The whole competition process was a fun experience. I was able to try out & learn new skills. I initially did a lot of research & pulled all my ideas together until I formed the final product. When I heard that I had won I was shocked & then filled with joy; a sense of pride filled me. It's such a fantastic feeling to have MY work published and to be on a well-known magazine. I can't stop smiling."

Aiman Elsawy, Employability Coordinator at South Thames College, praised the participants' dedication: "It has been inspiring to see so many

of our learners step outside their comfort zones and embrace this opportunity. Competitions like this give students the chance to work on realworld briefs, helping them build transferrable practical skills such as creativity, meeting deadlines, responding to feedback, and presenting their ideas professionally. What stood out most was the resilience and determination learners showed in developing their designs and pushing themselves to achieve their best. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and grateful to Beverley and Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce for continuing to provide valuable industry opportunities that allow our learners to showcase their talent and gain real recognition."

This ongoing partnership between South Thames College and Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce continues to provide invaluable opportunities for learners to gain industry exposure, develop professional skills, and connect with the wider business community.

Congratulations to Amaya, Viktoriia, Franmel, and all learners who participated in this year's competition. We look forward to seeing Amaya's published work in the spring edition of Business Connexions Magazine!

Roehampton Club is adding a £3 million Indoor Golf Centre to its wealth of facilities

We feel the Chamber networking events organised by Beverley and her team are excellent. There is a lovely, friendly and welcoming culture within the Wandsworth Chamber fostered by Beverley and long may that continue. There is always someone to talk to and gain advice from.

Chamber Patron Marc Newey, Chief Executive of Roehampton Club, talks to Sarah Dale about the club’s exciting new plans for development including a new £3 million Indoor Golf Centre and more padel facilities to meet demand.

Could you tell us more about your role and Roehampton Club?

Roehampton Club is the UK’s premier multisports club, owned by its 5,000 members and now has a five-year waiting list to join. I have been CEO for 18 years and we have developed the Club to be at the cutting edge of sports provision for golf, racket sports, health club and various other sporting and cultural activities. We have been awarded UK Sports Club of the Year on numerous occasions.

What are your plans for the future growth of your business?

We are embarking on building a £3 million 10-bay Indoor Golf Centre for members and guests which will be completed in February 2027, as well as applying for planning permission to build five more covered padel courts to meet demand.

We also want to build a reservoir to help retain water for maintaining all our green spaces. We are always looking to futureproof our Club as much as we can but being part of London green belt it’s very difficult to gain permission to do so.

What are the biggest challenges affecting your business and/or the sector? How do you think the Chamber can best support you with these challenges?

We need to improve our sustainability and reduce our dependency upon fossil fuels so we would welcome any expertise from other Chamber members to help us do that.

When did you join the Chamber?

Roehampton Club joined the Chamber 10 years ago.

How do you feel being a Patron at the Chamber has helped your business? (events, networking, support etc.)

We feel the Chamber networking events organised by Beverley and her team are excellent.

There is a lovely, friendly and welcoming culture within the Wandsworth Chamber fostered by Beverley and long may that continue. There is always someone to talk to and gain advice from.

What advice would you give to new Chamber members?

Network and go to the Breakfasts plus enter the Business Awards as it will spur on your staff and your business.

As spring is on its way, what is the Club doing to refresh and rejuvenate the business?

We completed a multi-million refurbishment of the Club’s social areas last year, so we are bracing ourselves for the heavy use when the weather warms up!

Plus we are 125 years old in 2026 and have a festival of events lined up to celebrate. Lots to keep us occupied.

GROWTH SHARES AND EMI OPTIONS: what they are and why SMEs should consider them

As businesses grow, one of the biggest challenges is finding effective ways to reward and motivate the people who help drive that growth. Many companies want to offer something more meaningful than bonuses, but without giving away too much equity or control.

Two of the most effective tools available, particularly for owner‑managed businesses, are growth shares and EMI (Enterprise Management Incentive) options. These provide a way to link rewards to long‑term business success in a tax‑efficient manner, while allowing existing shareholders to retain control.

What are growth shares?

Growth shares are a special class of share designed so that employees only benefit once the business reaches a certain value. This threshold is usually called the hurdle. The hurdle is usually set at, or above, today’s value of the company. This means the shares are initially ‘out of the money’ and only gain value if the company grows beyond that benchmark. Employees are therefore incentivised to help build future value without diluting the value owners have already created.

As growth shares only participate in value above the hurdle, their initial valuation is usually low, meaning employees can acquire them at a modest cost. Further, if the structure

is implemented correctly, the gain realised on exit is typically taxed under the capital gain regime, meaning the employees can generally retain more of their proceeds than being incentivised in a manner linked to income.

Growth shares are actual shares, not options. This means employees become shareholders from the date of issue. As a result, it is essential to clearly document matters such as what happens if an employee leaves before a sale or liquidity event. Leaver provisions, voting rights, dividend entitlements and other shareholder terms should all be set out from the start.

What are EMI options?

EMI options are a government approved share option scheme designed to help small and medium sized businesses offer equity incentives in a flexible and tax efficient way.

EMI options are often regarded as one of the most attractive incentive arrangements available in the UK. Instead of issuing shares immediately, the company grants the employee an option to buy shares in the future at a pre‑agreed price. This is known as the exercise price. This price can be low and is crucially only payable when the employee exercises the option. In many cases, exercise and sale of the underlying shares happens at the same time, meaning the employee never needs to fund the purchase upfront.

EMI options can be granted over ordinary shares or even growth shares, giving

employers a great deal of flexibility. If structured correctly, EMI gains are usually taxed under the capital gains regime, and because of relaxed qualifying conditions, employees may benefit from Business Asset Disposal Relief rate on exit (whilst it exists).

However, as employees do not become shareholders until they exercise their option, this means no voting rights or dividends. Whilst this may be advantageous from the other shareholders’ perspective, it can leave some employees feeling detached from the ‘real’ shareholder group until the point of exercise.

Summary

In summary, both Growth Shares and EMI Options can provide small and medium sized businesses with a flexible and tax efficient incentive. However, it is important to ensure that such arrangements are properly documented in order to achieve the intended motivation, control and tax efficiency.

Community is important to luxury retirement village in Clapham

Audley Nightingale Place’s General Manager Andrew Oxby talks to Sarah Dale about luxury retirement living and the power of community.

Homeownersofluxuryretirement village,NightingalePlacein Clapham,enjoyabeautifulview overClaphamCommon,abistro andrestaurantonsite,ahealth club,aprivatecinemaandalibrary.

However, you don’t have to live there to enjoy a delicious meal or a crisp cool glass of white wine on the terrace or an invigorating workout at the gym, as the facilities are open to the public.

Located next to Clapham South tube station, Nightingale Place opened in 2020. There are 94 apartments in the retirement village and there are some available to buy, rent or rent before you buy.

Andrew Oxby, General Manager, joined the company a year ago and has a 30-year career in hotels and hospitality management. He joined Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce at the start of the year.

“Wherever I’ve worked, I’ve always joined the local Chamber of Commerce because I believe it plays a vital role in helping businesses connect with their borough and support the local economy,” said Andrew.

“We want to move the business forward and be more involved in the local community. I see being a Chamber Patron as an opportunity to showcase our business in the borough and the local community, whether it’s through attending an event or hosting one at the village.

“Our challenge is to make more local people aware of Nightingale Place. Many locals have still not heard of it or don’t realise that it is also open to the public. Visitors are welcome to the village to have a coffee in the bistro or dinner at the No3 restaurant. No3 restaurant is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner and the bistro is open seven days a week for lunches and afternoon tea.

“We also have a 29-seater cinema which can be hired for business events or private parties. Our members-only health club is also open to people living outside of the village. It has a gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, beauty spa and exercise classes.”

There are 21 Audley Villages, including Nightingale Place, across the UK and each one supports charities in its local area through the Audley Foundation. Nightingale Place’s chosen charities are the British Heart Foundation and Trinity Hospice.

Nightingale Place, which was Audley’s first London village and welcomes homeowners from the age of 55, has around 30 employees working across the village in operations, hospitality, housekeeping, reception, facilities, healthcare and a gardener.

The grounds and gardens of the village are receiving a spring refresh with some new planting planned for homeowners to participate in led by the gardener.

“It is a community here and every resident has the opportunity to choose what flowers and plants they would like to see in the grounds,” added Andrew.

“Every Tuesday between 30 and 50 homeowners meet for a coffee and a slice of cake at our coffee morning. We host frequent activities and events from Bridge to Book Club and Happy Hour to themed dinners and trips. It’s a real community here. It is a real community here. Our homeowners move here when they’re downsizing due to their families growing up or they have lost a loved one and may be feeling lonely. It is a great place to make new friends, stay active and enjoy the benefits of private living but still close to central London.”

Building Wandsworth’s Future - One Reader at a Time

In 2025, nearly 20% of children in Wandsworth left primary school without meeting the expected standard in reading. Behind that figure are children whose confidence in learning and future opportunities may already be limited. Learn to Love to Read exists to change that.

The evidence is clear: reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success, more so than a child’s socioeconomic background. Children who enjoy reading read more frequently, build stronger vocabulary, perform better across subjects and develop the curiosity and resilience that employers value.

At Learn to Love to Read, we work in local primary schools to ensure more children develop both the skills and the love of reading that unlock opportunity. Our trained volunteers provide weekly one-to-one reading support, helping children build ability and confidence.

For many children, this support is transformational. A child who once avoided reading can begin to see themselves as capable and begin to enjoy reading. Over time, that shift changes their academic trajectory and their self belief.

Our work extends beyond the classroom. We run Early Years classes and parent sessions to help families build reading habits at home, additionally we offer 1:1 online sessions, bring diverse authors and illustrators into schools to inspire young readers and give books to the children we support - ensuring that reading becomes associated with joy, not frustration.

For businesses, supporting literacy is not only a community investment but a long-term economic one. The confidence, communication skills and problem-solving abilities that come from reading are needed in our future workforce. By supporting early literacy today, local organisations help ensure Wandsworth continues to thrive tomorrow.

There are several ways the business community can get involved.

We are always seeking new volunteers, and many companies encourage employees to volunteer for just one hour a week during term time. It is a small commitment that can make a life-changing difference for a child while also boosting employee engagement and wellbeing.

We also have charity places available in the Royal Parks Half Marathon and many other challenge events. Businesses can support by encouraging their employees to take part in an event, match funding sponsorship, sponsoring our running team, contributing towards team kit, donating an auction prize, or partnering with us for one of our fundraising events throughout the year. Sponsorship provides visible community leadership and brand alignment with education, opportunity and local impact.

We are particularly keen to partner with fellow Chamber of Commerce members who want to make a tangible difference close to home.

Small interventions at the right moment can change a child’s relationship with learning for life. In strengthening literacy today, we strengthen Wandsworth’s workforce of tomorrow.

Get in touch to explore volunteering, sponsorship or partnership opportunities, we would love to start a conversation.

Vacancies can be promoted to a talent pool of more than 1,000 students actively seeking apprenticeship roles, and the team provides hands- on suppor t with candidate selection, interview arrangements, and onboarding.

Guidance on apprenticeship funding is also included, from navigating government incentives to making the most of levy transfer opportunities. For busy employers, this end-to-end support removes complexity and ensures apprenticeships deliver real value.

With programmes spanning Construction, Engineering, Business Administration, Digital, HR and even the Chartered Management Degree, apprenticeships offer sectors in high demand the opportunity to recruit and nurture emerging professionals. Flexible delivery, onsite or virtual, allows apprentices to balance learning with the demands of their working role.

Foundation Apprenticeships are increasingly vital in preparing young people for skilled careers, particularly within the trades. STCG offers robust pathways in areas such as Finishing Trades and Onsite Trades, delivered over 8 – 12 months, developed closely with employer partners, so the training reflects real industry practice.

Foundation Level 2 apprenticeships give learners hands-on experience in carpentry, plastering, painting, and decorating, and

multi-trade work. For employers, these shorter apprenticeships provide an affordable and practical way to cultivate future talent early, supporting both workforce development and the wider local economy.

Apprenticeships aren’t just a recruitment solution; they’re an investment in long-term business growth. Employers frequently report:

• A workforce equipped with the right skills

• Improved productivity and profitability

• Higher staff retention and loyalty

• Increased motivation and engagement

• Reduced skills gaps and shortages

STCG supports both levy and non-levy employers with tailored guidance on funding options and candidate selection, helping organisations find the right fit for their teams.

What Employers Are Saying

Elias Osman, Cardo Group: “Hiring apprentices helps us address the skills shortage in the construction industry, and it allows us to deliver on our shared social value with our client RBK by increasing local representation. Training the next generation supports succession planning, while also giving our existing staff opportunities to develop their own leadership skills through coaching. Employers considering apprentices should identify current and long-term skills shortages early, engage with local training providers, ensure there is someone dedicated to supporting apprentice wellbeing, and maintain open dialogue with the provider to quickly address any issues.”

Deborah George, Kingston Council:

“Apprenticeships help us upskill existing staff with recognised qualifications, keeping them motivated and confident. They also attract new talent who bring fresh ideas, energy and diversity, strengthening our workforce and local services. For employers, investing in strong mentoring and offering meaningful, rotational roles helps nurture loyal, capable people who grow with your organisation.”

ANOMALI ART: Integrating Contemporary Art into Professional Spaces

Anomali Art was founded with a simple but practical aim: to create new income and visibility opportunities for artists by placing their work in high footfall professional environments.

Rather than confining art to traditional cultural venues, Anomali Art works with offices, co working spaces and hospitality environments to introduce thoughtfully curated contemporary works directly into the places where people spend much of their daily lives. The focus is on integration, ensuring that art enhances a space while respecting its primary function.

Last summer, I delivered Creative Currents, a workplace pilot at 22 Bishopsgate on the XCHG workspace floor in the City of London. The project provided an opportunity to test how a curated programme could operate within a live business environment.

One of the clearest insights was that proportion and placement matter more than scale. In professional settings, fewer carefully selected works often create stronger presence than larger installations. When artworks align

naturally with circulation routes and shared areas, engagement develops gradually and informally, without requiring dedicated events or additional time from busy professionals.

The pilot also demonstrated that short term, flexible cultural programming can be introduced without permanent structural change. For small and medium sized enterprises in particular, this approach allows businesses to enhance atmosphere, strengthen identity and elevate perception while maintaining operational priorities.

Anomali Art is now developing adaptable programmes tailored to the needs and character of different organisations, from independent offices and co working spaces to hospitality venues and professional firms. The model is designed to be commercially realistic, proportionate and responsive to the scale of each environment.

As businesses increasingly consider how their physical spaces reflect their culture and values, integrating contemporary art can offer a subtle but meaningful way to add distinction and depth. For organisations exploring how to strengthen identity and client perception, even modest, well considered cultural initiatives can make a noticeable difference.

Upgrade work starts to transform busy Wandsworth Town Station

Starting construction work at Wandsworth Town Station

is a landmark moment for everyone who lives and works in the town centre.

Jenny Yates, Cabinet Member for Transport, visited the station with Network Rail to see the latest progress as the works got under way with construction workers on-site.

The £20 million upgrade programme, delivered by Network Rail and funded by Wandsworth Council and the Department for Transport’s Access for All scheme, includes opening up a new second entrance at Odyssey Way and installing lifts to all platforms.

As part of the council’s Decade of Renewal, the local authority’s contribution to the station improvements is paid for with funds the council has collected from property developers, at no cost to local taxpayers.

Jenny Yates said: “Starting construction work at Wandsworth Town Station is a landmark moment for everyone who lives and works in the town centre. The local community has been waiting for a better, modern station, so together with Network Rail we’ve worked hard to greenlight the project with a dedicated funding package and commitment to getting this done.”

Once completed in summer 2027, the station will be transformed for people with reduced mobility or pushchairs and those travelling with luggage and will have a modern second entrance with ticket turnstiles for residents living and working to the north of Wandsworth Town.

The station will remain open for passengers throughout the work with some platforms and routes temporarily closed for short periods during construction. Visit South Western Railway website for service information updates.

Victoria Greenwood, Senior Commercial Scheme Sponsor, on behalf of Network Rail and South Western Railway, said: “Our teams will be working throughout 2026 and into the summer of 2027 to build new lifts and create a second entrance to the station whilst keeping the station open and train services operating.

“These works will see some changes to train services at certain points throughout the project and we ask passengers to check the website and station signage frequently. We would like to thank our customers and the Wandsworth residents in advance for their patience and understanding while we carry out these transformational upgrades to the station.”

Preparatory works include the installation of hoardings and ducting ahead of the construction of a temporary scaffold bridge in April. Foundations for the new lifts will follow between May and November 2026, with the lift shafts scheduled for installation in February 2027.

More than 3.75 million passengers used Wandsworth Town Station between April 2024 and March 2025, making it the 15th busiest station on the South Western Railway network.

East Putney bridges set for colourful refurbishment

Improvement works were due to begin on 2 March to revitalise the bridges outside East Putney Tube station, creating a more vibrant and welcoming space for residents and visitors.

The planned refurbishment, which will take place at night to minimise disruption, will include deepcleaning the bridges, repainting the surfaces and underpasses, upgrading pigeon proofing measures, jetwashing the brickwork, and adding

‘East Putney’ signage to the exterior of both bridges.

Wandsworth Council will be working in partnership with Network Rail and Transport for London (TfL) to deliver the improvements. As part of wider neighbourhood improvements, the council-led renewal and refurbishment of the East Putney bridges are being paid for with funds the council has collected from property developers, at no cost to local taxpayers.

This is part of their boroughwide programme to improve railway bridges and underpasses to make them brighter, safer and more welcoming, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists.

Jenny Yates, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “These improvements will make a real difference for everyone travelling through East Putney.

“This investment is part of our Decade of Renewal, improving and

refurbishing roads, pavements and bridges - all part of our commitment to making Wandsworth an even better place to live, work, and spend time.”

The refurbishment will take place between 10pm and 5am for approximately 40 nights, excluding weekends. During this period, a single lane closure will be in place with temporary traffic signals, with the road remaining open at all times.

Wandsworth delivers on climate action goals

Improving biodiversity and air quality, reducing waste, investing in cutting carbon emissions, and enabling greener transport have all contributed to a more sustainable Wandsworth.

With carbon emissions across the borough already slashed in half, projects like an £8 million investment in transforming public buildings including Putney Leisure Centre will boost progress.

The borough now hosts 1,642 electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints, expanded cycling infrastructure and 346 bike hangars, as well as 50 per cent of primary schools benefitting from car-free school streets. The borough also introduced the 2,000th zero-emission bus in Transport for London’s fleet at Battersea bus station.

Major progress on the Cleaner Borough Plan has included a jump in recycling rates by more than 25 per cent, taking recycling to the highest ever rate recorded in Wandsworth.

A new Biodiversity Action Plan has been drafted, supported by extensive community involvement and evidence gathering across over 4,000 recorded species and 31 biodiversity sites. A total of 1,000 new trees have been planted,12 parks achieved Green Flag status and Wandsworth was spotlighted by Good Parks for London for supporting nature.

More than 40 businesses have been supported to become more sustainable through the Making Business Greener Scheme.

There has also been a 90 per cent reduction in carbon emissions from the council’s new waste collection fleet, through the use of biofuels. Food waste collections are due to reach almost every home in Wandsworth, as part of the Cleaner Borough Plan.

Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:

“Our commitment to sustainability is bringing benefits to those who live, work and travel through Wandsworth as we work hard to make sure the borough is a cleaner, greener, more resilient and welcoming place.

“We have made a pledge to become a carbon net zero borough by 2043 and we are determined to deliver on that goal.

“Being recognised as an example of an organisation taking the lead on climate action through our CDP ‘A’ rating for the third consecutive year is a mark of the responsible actions the council is taking. But we recognise this is a continuing journey and we’re committed to taking meaningful steps to keep up our work on delivering climate action.”

Balham Neighbourhood Wardens start work to tackle anti-social behaviour

The new Balham Neighbourhood Wardens have started their first patrol. You will now see them on the streets of Balham helping to make our streets safer and cleaner.

The wardens are a visible, active presence in Balham, rooted in the local neighbourhood. They patrol the streets of Balham and support local people, including fly-tipping enforcement. They also work in partnership with local businesses and Neighbourhood Policing Teams, providing reassurance and an easier way to report issues.

Leader of the Council Simon Hogg said: “The wardens will address nuisances like flytipping, noise and other anti-social behaviour that we know have a big impact on resident’s lives.

"Wandsworth is the safest inner London borough but challenges in police resourcing mean we need sharper precision and even stronger partnerships. Together with Neighbourhood Policing Teams, we will work to make sure people always feel safe walking around their local streets.”

Graeme Henderson, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said: “This is about putting a visible presence on the street to reassure people that they are being protected and listened to.”

Jo Rigby, Deputy Cabinet Member for Environment, added: “The Balham Neighbourhood Wardens will keep our streets cleaner by rapidly addressing issues like flytipping, graffiti, broken streetlights and damaged pavements. You can tell them what needs sorting, and they will take action.”

Through our Balham Forum, residents have raised the need for a more visible, uniformed presence on the streets. Our Neighbourhood Wardens are a direct response to their feedback. This pilot will provide residents with a more visible community presence and could be rolled out to other parts of the borough.

The wardens are a reassuring presence on the streets – talking to residents and businesses to

offer advice and to link them up with sources of help if they need them.

They are an easy contact point for help with council services, support for vulnerable residents such as rough sleepers, and to highlight areas that need greater focus.

Tackling anti-social behaviour is a priority for the wardens. The new patrols use their own enforcement powers, and work closely with other agencies, to tackle it.

The Neighbourhood Wardens will patrol four days a week, focusing on peak times such as the afternoon school run and evenings, and on known hotspots.

We will continue to listen to residents through the Balham Forum to get feedback on the success of the pilot and whether it should be rolled out to other town centres.

The Neighbourhood Wardens are also part of a package of measures to help local people feel safer, including increased CCTV coverage, better lighting and repairing broken street lights, removing flytipping and adding graffiti to our 7 Days, 7 rings guarantee, ensuring that local people can easily report problems that will then be swiftly dealt with.

Bringing Business Together at the Heart of Government

WandsworthChamberof Commercerecentlyhostedan exclusiveBusinessNetworking EveningattheHouseof Commons, bringingtogether businessleadersfromacross boroughsforanevening ofconnection, insight, and collaborationinoneoftheUK’s mosticonicsettings.

Held in one of the Terrace Dining Rooms at the Palace of Westminster and kindly hosted by Marsha De Cordova MP, the event welcomed a full-capacity audience of professionals and business owners. Attendees arrived via Westminster Hall, passing landmarks such as Big Ben—setting the tone for what many described as an impressive and memorable experience.

The room was filled with a strong mix of familiar faces from the Wandsworth Chamber community alongside new connections from Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster Chamber of Commerce. The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm, professional, and relaxed, creating the ideal environment for meaningful conversations and new relationships to form.

This event marked the culmination of a longheld ambition to bring these two business communities together in this prestigious parliamentary setting. The concept was first suggested several years ago, with further conversations developing over time between Chambers and partners. With the support of sponsor Handelsbanken, the opportunity was finally realised—demonstrating the value of sustained collaboration and shared vision.

A highlight of the evening was the keynote address from James Sproule, Chief Economist at Handelsbanken UK, who delivered a sharp-witted and engaging perspective on the UK’s current economic climate. He spoke about how fast-moving geopolitical developments are influencing confidence in the market— affecting everything from the property sector

to how “wealthy” the average household feels. His remarks sparked a lively discussion among those in attendance.

Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with particular praise for the unique venue, the quality of the speaker, and the strength of networking opportunities on offer. The evening successfully delivered on its intention to create a high-quality, cross-borough business experience.

The event also served as a reminder of the important role Chambers of Commerce play in connecting businesses and strengthening local networks. When organisations from different boroughs come together, new conversations begin—and those conversations often lead to collaboration and opportunity. Relationships formed in these settings can evolve into partnerships that underpin long-term economic growth.

Importantly, the evening reinforced Wandsworth Chamber’s ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration beyond borough boundaries.

In an increasingly interconnected business environment, creating opportunities for businesses to connect, share insight, and build relationships across regions is more important than ever.

This approach is already being carried forward, with further collaborative events planned with neighbouring Chambers. Upcoming partnerships with Merton Chamber include a business networking match day event at AFC Wimbledon, as well as a sector-focused event exploring retrofit opportunities within the property and construction industry.

The success of the House of Commons event highlights the potential of these partnerships and sets the tone for future initiatives that bring business communities together in meaningful and impactful ways.

Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce extends its thanks to Marsha De Cordova MP for hosting, to Handelsbanken for their valued sponsorship, to Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster Chamber for partnering on this event and to all attendees who contributed to making the evening such a success.

Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with particular praise for the unique venue, the quality of the speaker, and the strength of networking opportunities on offer.

Wandsworth Council ranked as one of the most productive councils in the country

Wandsworth Council has been ranked as one of the highest-performing local authorities in the country, following the publication of the latest IMPOWER Index, which ranks Wandsworth in the top 10 for productivity.

The Index measures how effectively councils deliver outcomes per pound spent across major service areas. Wandsworth’s strong performance demonstrates that our residents are receiving some of the best value for money in the country.

The result builds on positive results, including good ratings for both Children’s Services from Ofsted and Adult Social Care Services from the Care Quality Commission.

Wandsworth also delivers value for money with millions of pounds saved through better contracts, smarter staffing and using £230 million of funding collected from property developers for improvements across the borough at no added cost to taxpayers.

Simon Hogg, Leader of Wandsworth Council, said: “We are proud to be recognised nationally as one of the most productive councils in the country.

“This means residents can be confident that value for money is at the heart of everything we do, while still delivering high quality services. We have achieved this with the lowest Council Tax in the country, all while continuing to invest in the things that matter most to you.”

The independent review assesses how effectively councils deliver outcomes for residents based on spending across seven major service areas. These include children’s social care, adult social care, special educational needs and disabilities, housing, homelessness, and waste and recycling.

Many of the success themes identified, from cross department collaboration to early intervention and digital innovation are the priorities we have built into our own services.

We have achieved this with the lowest Council Tax in the country, all while continuing to invest in the things that matter most to you.

Wandsworth invests in communities with major housing expansion

Wandsworth Council has reaffirmed its long term commitment to building stronger, more sustainable communities through a strategic investment in new council homes and estate improvements across the borough.

Value for money is at the heart of everything we do. Wandsworth is investing in new homes and estate improvements that create lifelong assets for the borough.

These homes not only pay for themselves through rental income but also reduce reliance on costly temporary accommodation. Thanks to strengthened prevention work, Wandsworth is now avoiding an additional £3.7 million in temporary accommodation costs every year.

Wandsworth’s Housing Revenue Account, a ringfenced fund dedicated to council housing, is in a significantly stronger position than that of many other stock holding authorities. This strong financial position enables the council to continue ambitious regeneration and development plans while maintaining essential investment in existing homes.

A key milestone was recently reached as the Homes for Wandsworth programme celebrated the completion of its 500th new council home, marking the halfway point toward the borough’s pledge to deliver 1,000 new homes for local residents.

Building on this momentum, the council has announced a landmark partnership with Battersea Power Station to deliver 200 new high quality council homes within the development’s 42 acre masterplan, further expanding opportunities for families in need of secure, affordable housing.

Aydin Dikerdem, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “Investing in new council homes is one of the most powerful tools we have to tackle the housing crisis and strengthen our communities. Every new home means a family moved off a waiting list and into a secure, comfortable home. And it also saves us money in the long-term, delivering a public asset and reducing expensive temporary accommodation costs. It’s an investment not just in buildings, but in the future of Wandsworth.”

Together, these initiatives reflect Wandsworth’s strategic, long term commitment to ensuring that every resident has access to a safe, secure, and high quality place to call home.

‘2026 must be the year of delivering growth’
– new BCC President
The new President of British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), Andy Haldane, says the UK must shift from strategies to action, with policymakers backing businesses to deliver growth.

He took on the role on 2 February after being elected at the BCC’s Annual General Meeting in October. He succeeds Baroness Martha Lane-Fox, who will continue working with the Chamber network in an ambassadorial role.

As President, Andy will work alongside Director General, Shevaun Haviland, to represent the interests of businesses, of all sizes, in all sectors, all over the country at a critical time for the UK economy.

Andy is a former Chief Economist at the Bank of England and former Chief Executive of the Royal Society for Arts. He was a member of the BoE’s Monetary Policy Committee, and Permanent Secretary for Levelling Up at the Cabinet Office. He is a previous Chair of the Government’s Industrial Strategy Council and the Levelling Up Advisory Council.

His first major engagement in the new role will be speaking at the BCC’s Driving International Trade Conference in Central London on Thursday 26 March.

The BCC’s latest economic survey shows less than half of responding firms (46%) are expecting to increase turnover in the next 12 months. Over half of firms (52%) are expecting to raise their prices in the next three months.

New BCC President Andy Haldane said: “The UK’s economic warning lights continue to flash, and business confidence remains low.

“2026 must be the year of delivering growth. The British Chambers of Commerce will be a powerful agent of that change, and I’m delighted to be joining the team.

“Growth won’t come from slogans, it will come from backing businesses to get on and grow.

“The UK doesn’t have a shortage of ideas and ambition; it has a shortage of delivery. Chambers of Commerce are where ambition meets reality.

“If we’re serious about boosting productivity, investment and trade – we need fewer strategies and more spades in the ground, more deals done, and more businesses scaling in every part of the country.”

BCC Director General Shevaun Haviland added: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Andy as President of the British Chambers of Commerce. He shares my belief that 2026 must be the year of delivering growth.

“He brings a rare combination of deep economic expertise and a genuine love for listening to businesses on the ground.

“Andy understands the power of our Chamber network to turn insight into action.

“At such an important time for the economy, I’m really looking forward to working closely with him to champion firms, support growth, and drive positive change across the UK.”

The UK doesn’t have a shortage of ideas and ambition; it has a shortage of delivery. Chambers of Commerce are where ambition meets reality.

Further rate cuts are crucial to support growth

TheBankofEnglandhasheld

interestratesat3.75percent afteravotewhichsplitthe decision-makingcommittee.

Responding to the latest interest rate decision, David Bharier, Head of Research at the British Chambers of Commerce said: “Holding the interest rate at 3.75 per cent was expected as the Bank grapples with the twin challenges of domestic cost pressures and an unpredictable global outlook.

“Our data show that a majority of firms still expect to raise their prices, with labour costs cited as the top cost pressure. Meanwhile, tariff threats are already prompting contingency planning and risk pushing prices higher if retaliation follows.

“That leaves the Bank facing a difficult tradeoff. Businesses tell us inflation risks are likely to persist in the short term, but a lower interest rate will be a key part of kickstarting the economy. However, today’s more optimistic MPC forecast, predicting inflation returning to target by April, will be welcomed by the firms we represent.

“For businesses across the UK, greater policy certainty and a clear path to lower borrowing costs are essential to unlock investment, boost productivity and transform trade.”

Small acts, big change - the impact of Age UK Wandsworth in the community

Natalie de Silva, CEO of Age UK Wandsworth, talks to Sarah Dale about leadership, running a charity and the small acts that everyone can do to help older people in the community.

Bringing in an elderly neighbour’s bins or pausing to have a friendly chat are just some of the ways everyone can support the older members of our community.

Loneliness is rife amongst older members of the population and Age UK Wandsworth is committed to doing all it can to provide support, advice, activities and friendship.

Natalie de Silva became the charity’s CEO in 2019 having worked in education for two decades prior to moving into the voluntary sector.

“My specialism is turning around failing organisations,” she says. “I love working out what’s going wrong, with leadership, finance or operations (often all three simultaneously!) and then coming up with an improvement strategy.

“I’ve been in turnaround mode for several years, so now that the charity is in a stable position, I want to stop focusing inwards and see how else we can work in partnership with Wandsworth colleagues. Some of our focus areas for 2026 are developing more health and wellbeing services, evaluating our environmental impact, developing new income streams to make us more financially sustainable, and expanding our work with corporate partners.”

Age UK Wandsworth is a local, independent charity and as such, it is not funded, governed or operated by national charity Age UK.

“The biggest challenge facing Age UK Wandsworth is getting our correct name out there so that people in the community can connect with us, use our services, volunteer with us, and fundraise for us,” says Natalie.

“People tend to assume we are funded, governed and operated by a large national charity called Age UK, but we aren’t. Age UK Wandsworth is a local, independent charity and responsibility for income generation and delivering an array of services for older people sits within our leadership team right here in Wandsworth.”

During Natalie’s leadership, Age UK Wandsworth has grown its team of part-time staff from 10 to 40 and tripled the number of services it provides across the borough, which includes around 30,000 older people.

The charity’s services have grown from information and advice, hospital discharge and personal care to a specialised dementia service; a day centre for local people who are older, with disabilities or have dementia funded by Wandsworth Council; an LGBTQ+ service; an outreach service; coffee mornings; exercise classes; crafts groups; a singing for dementia group; befriending programme; footcare; digital support; and the Roehampton Community Shed which includes a workshop to learn new skills. They also collaborate with the Suicide Forum for staff training, Spectra, a voluntary organisation which provides information and training on living with HIV and sexual health for older people, and Blind Aid who run cooking lessons for people with sensory impairments.

“If I was characterising my leadership style, I would say it’s based on endless curiosity,” she says.

“I’m always asking questions, as anyone who works with me will testify to. It’s great for your business and for leading and managing people. It’s also a useful tool for networking; I love learning about other people’s jobs and how their industries work.

“Diversity is vital to creating a successful organisation. Another leader once told me, ‘Don’t hire a whole team that’s just like you, however tempting that may be’ and she was right, of course. It’s important to have a range of knowledge, skills, experience, voices and styles in your

team. Recruit people who have strengths that you lack and recognise and reward their hard work.”

Age UK Wandsworth joined Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce in 2023 following a recommendation from one of their trustees who is also a member.

“We thought we’d give it a go for a year and see how we got on,” explains Natalie.

“A few years later and we are still members and we’ve won the Best Charity category in the Business Awards for the last two years, which has been great for building on our reputation as a professional organisation.

“My advice to new members would be to go to as many networking events as you can and chat to different people each time. Have your QR code ready for your LinkedIn profile, so that people can scan it and connect with you easily. Listen and ask questions about other people’s businesses; even though they may seemingly have nothing in common with your own, as you never know when you, or they, might need something different and be able to work together.”

Last year, the charity signed up to the Social Mobility Pledge – launched by former Secretary of State for Education, Rt Hon Justine Greening to encourage practical steps that employers can take to close the UK’s opportunity gap. Over 500 employers and institutions, representing more than seven million employees and students, have now signed the Pledge. Natalie is keen to develop their work even further in this area.

“We’ve been doing lots to support social mobility in Wandsworth, for example, intergenerational opportunities, work experience, trustee experience, and working with job centres, but there’s always more we can do and the Pledge has helped to formalise what we give back to the community,” she adds.

Age UK Wandsworth is planning a summer bungee jump fundraising challenge and there are also 10 places available for the Royal Parks half-marathon in October.

For more information about Age UK Wandsworth, becoming a volunteer or a befriender, or to find out more about fundraising challenges, visit www.ageuk.org.uk/wandsworth

Health & Wellbeing

Why Structured Fitness is a Business Asset, not a Luxury

Intoday’sfast-pacedworking environment,healthis oftentreatedassomething to“fitin”aroundbusiness commitments.Longhours, sedentarywork,highstress andinconsistentroutinescan quietlyerodeenergy,focus andlong-termperformance.

However, wellbeing is not a luxury, it is a business asset.

As a personal trainer working with professionals across Clapham and Wandsworth, I regularly see the difference structured fitness makes not just physically, but professionally. Improved strength, better body composition and increased cardiovascular health are obvious benefits, but the deeper impact is often seen in clarity of thinking, stress resilience and daily productivity.

Research consistently shows that regular resistance training and cardiovascular exercise reduce stress hormones, improve sleep quality and enhance cognitive function. Strength training has been linked to improved metabolic health, better posture for desk based professionals and reduced risk of long-term conditions such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Yet the issue is rarely knowledge. Most people understand exercise is important.

The challenge is structure.

Random workouts, inconsistent effort and short-term “quick fix” approaches often lead to frustration and plateaus. Sustainable progress requires a clear plan, measurable progression and accountability.

Structured training provides:

• Progressive overload to build strength safely

• Clear performance tracking to maintain motivation

• Balanced programming to avoid injury and burnout

• Nutritional guidance aligned with individual goals

For business owners and professionals, this structured approach creates efficiency. Sessions are purposeful. Results are measurable. Time is respected.

Another key factor is mindset. Many professionals are highly disciplined in their careers but struggle to apply that same consistency to their own health. When fitness becomes a structured system rather than a reactive effort, it removes decision fatigue and builds long-term habits.

Importantly, wellbeing should not mean extremes. Sustainable health is built through consistent habits: strength training two to four times per week, daily movement, adequate protein intake, quality sleep and stress management. Small, repeatable actions deliver far greater results than short bursts of intensity followed by burnout.

From a business perspective, investing in health reduces absenteeism, improves energy levels and enhances leadership presence. Confidence built in the gym often transfers directly into boardrooms, meetings and presentations.

Wellbeing is not separate from performance, it underpins it.

For professionals across Wandsworth, Clapham and the surrounding areas, the message is simple: treat your health with the same structure and strategic thinking you apply to your business.

When you build strength physically, you build resilience everywhere else.

Cassava Consulting www.cassava.consulting

Q1 In a few words tell us a bit about your business?

We help small and medium size businesses navigate the often complex world of data protection, responsible AI deployment and the ever changing marketing rules.

Too many small business owners assume that the GDPR or AI rules don’t apply to them. This cannot be further from the truth. One data breach, a mis-sent email, and suddenly the insurance won’t pay out, and your contract with a big client is cancelled. With years of hands on experience, we translate complex legal requirements into clear, actionable steps, making compliance and trustworthy AI adoption straightforward and affordable.

Working with us brings tangible benefits for our clients; it builds lasting customer confidence because people know their data is handled properly; it gives them a competitive edge in tenders that now demand demonstrable data governance processes; and it streamlines everyday operations by automating retention schedules and freeing their teams to focus on growth rather than paperwork. In short, we turn regulatory headaches into strategic advantages.

Q2 What gives your business 'the x-factor’?

It’s the blend of deep data governance know how and our genuine enthusiasm for the subject. I still remember a client saying, “I’ve never heard anyone talk about the GDPR with such passion,” and that energy is what convinced him to engage Cassava Consulting.

Q3 What motivated you to set up in business?

Two things. Firstly, we were frustrated seeing countless SMEs mishandle data protection (sometimes when I read a privacy notice I want to weep). We realised many leaders overlook the tangible upside of good data governance because you cannot see the return on revenue on the balance sheet. Yet solid compliance builds customer trust, opens doors to larger contracts, saves time and money, and protects against costly fines. Secondly, entrepreneurship gives me the freedom to set my own schedule and work on projects I am truly passionate about.

Q4 What do you like most about working as a start-up?

Honestly, I see ourselves more as consultants than a classic start up. Still, I love the agility that comes with a lean operation, the ability to pivot quickly, design bespoke solutions, and build close, personal relationships with clients without the red tape that larger firms often face.

Q5 What has been your greatest business success to date?

One of my proudest moments came when we helped a client secure a contract with a partner he had been eager to collaborate with. The prospective partner sent a daunting due diligence questionnaire, and the client did not know where to start. We guided him through each section, then set up robust data governance measures for his company. We set up a clear data retention schedule, appropriate security controls, the requisite policies and delivered data protection training to his team. With everything in place, he clinched the contract and sent us a heartfelt thank you note.

Q6 What has been your lowest moment?

Putting countless hours into a detailed compliance report for a prospect, only to hear back that they weren’t ready to move forward. It reminded me that timing and willingness are just as important as the quality of the work.

Q7 In terms of business achievements, where do you want to be within the next 5 years?

We aim to build network of “privacy champions” professionals who advocate for robust data protection and responsible AI across their industries, spreading best practice ideas like a modern day privacy gospel.

Q8 What would be your top tip to someone thinking of starting up their own business?

Write an exhaustive list of the challenges you will encounter and why they could prevent you from succeeding. If after reading the list you are still motivated to go ahead, then go for it. That determination is exactly what will carry you through.

Entrepreneurship gives me the freedom to set my own schedule and work on projects I am truly passionate about.

Five Minutes with: Adam Rybinski

Company Director at GraftinGardeners

Who are you?

Inthisindustry, you’re onlyasgoodasyour lastjob.Wetreatevery gardenasifitwere ourown, ensuring thatqualityand customersatisfaction aren'tjustslogans, butthefoundationof everysitewevisit.

I’m Adam Rybinski, Company Director and a founding member of GraftinGardeners. I’ve spent the last 15 years building the business alongside my brother, Peter, from a local start-up into one of London’s largest and most trusted family-run tree surgery companies.

What's your business all about?

We’re all about expert arboriculture with a family ethos. We provide a full-service tree management solution across London and Surrey, from residential pruning to large-scale commercial contracts, focusing on high-quality workmanship, strict safety standards, and a 100% waste-recycling policy.

Three words to describe yourself?

Driven, pragmatic, and professional. Ideal Customer?

Anyone who values their trees as an asset. Whether it’s a homeowner who wants their garden shaped with precision or a commercial property manager looking for a reliable, long-term partner to manage a complex estate, we work best with clients who appreciate expertise and efficiency.

Biggest achievement?

Taking a small family outfit and scaling it to run multiple specialist teams across the capital. Earning industry-leading accreditations like CHAS and being highly recommended on Which? Trusted Traders has been a proud milestone, confirming we haven't lost our focus on quality as we've grown.

Biggest gripe?

"Cowboy" outfits are giving the industry a bad name. It’s frustrating to see cut-price operators performing poor work that compromises tree health and safety. We’re constantly advocating for the importance of NPTC qualifications and BS 3998 standards to protect London’s trees.

Your inspiration?

The "Great Trees of London." Working daily among veteran oaks and historic London plane trees is a constant reminder of our responsibility. My inspiration comes from ensuring these landmarks are preserved for future generations through proper, modern arboriculture.

Philosophy in Business?

Growth through reputation. In this industry, you’re only as good as your last job. We treat every garden as if it were our own, ensuring that quality and customer satisfaction aren't just slogans, but the foundation of every site we visit.

Sporting Hero?

I’ve always admired the grit and longevity of athletes like Roger Federer. In business, as in sport, staying at the top requires incredible discipline, the ability to adapt to changing conditions, and a focus on longterm performance rather than short-term wins.

Biggest tip for success?

Invest in your team. You can have the best trucks and chainsaws in the world, but your reputation is built by the people on the ground. Hire for attitude, train for excellence, and treat your staff like family; it’s the only way to scale a service-based business sustainably.
