FHM Youth

Players Recognised Three of our youth players were recognised by inclusion in the northern based New Zealand U17 training squad. James Green, Matthew Wood and Matt Conroy were all part of the wider training squad in preparation for the upcoming U17 World Cup qualifiers in 2017. The squad has recently been trimmed with striker Matt Conroy still being part of the squad at this point, with the others still pushing hard to regain their places.

Both Matt’s have been with the club since they were 5 years old (Matt Conroy’s 1st game was on his 5th birthday), with defender Matthew Wood currently plying his trade for the Reserves. Midfielder James Green (joined in 13th grade) and Matt Conroy are both part of the U17 Metro team who currently sit 5th but whose team are league top scorers with an average of 3 goals per game.

From the eyes of a supporter As a supporter I’m always going to be a little biased but I think things are travelling really well at the Club.

We are in the top league of the Men’s NRFL and the Women’s NRFL. I tend to watch the men3. more than the women as it’s Nick Smith played on a Saturday. Coaching The Club has a clear strategy to create pathways for players, coaches and administrators. This is seen as a win/win situation where all parties succeed.

The Club has the best coaching depth across any Club in Auckland. Over the last 10 years the Club has introduced a number of professional coaches. These coaches are carefully vetted and recruited to ensure they fit with the Club’s values and they can deliver on our strategic goals. All of our paid coaches must be qualified with some holding some of the highest qualifications of any coach in New Zealand.

The Team List ....

We have a strong desire to develop female coaches and not just to coach our very strong girls’ and women’s teams. We see no reason why one day our Men’s 1st team couldn’t have a female coach.

this year is Coach for our U9 girls.

Emily’s ambition to go as far as she can with her coaching has seen her dedicate herself to obtaining her coaching qualifications. She currently holds a Junior Level 1 Coaching Certificate and is half way through the Junior Level 2 Coaching Certificate.

With the Club about to start delivering Skill Centre Open programmes Emily has accepted our approach to be a coach in the Programme. It is a NZF requirement that all coaches in the Programme have attained the Junior Level 3 Certification. Emily will be attending a course in September to attain this qualification.
