A MESSAGE FROM THE BASEBALL

HEAD COACH Please allow this letter to serve as an opportunity to share a little about our 2020 boys baseball season, but also give you a look into our baseball program. We have had various events leading up to this season that we hope will continue to build our program into one of the elite athletic programs in the area. Our goals are simple, we look to provide our players with an elite life experience where we work to utilize baseball as the platform to teach these life skills. We have worked hard to upgrade our facilities, which in turn will help foster an environment that will allow us the opportunity to continue to build upon our developed cultural blueprint.

2020 COACHING STAFF

Tom Marker >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Tom Marker enters his second season as head varsity baseball coach. Marker has compiled a 21-8 record his first season at Olentangy Orange High School. He led the 2019 Pioneers to a district championship game.

Prior to Olentangy Orange, Marker spent four seasons as the head coach at Upper Arlington High School. During his tenure at Upper Arlington, Marker led the Golden Bears to two district final appearnaces and a pair of 20-win seasons. Marker spent five seasons at Bexley High School prior to UA and led the Lions to a pair of 20-win seasons, a league title, and the program’s first district final appearance in 16 years. Bexley finished its final two seasons ranked in the top 15 of the OHSBCA Division II State Poll.

Coach Marker was selected Division II Central District Coach of the Year in 2013. He currently serves on the National High School Baseball Coaches Association Board and served as president of the Central District Baseball Coaches Association and was the Senior Rep on the Ohio High School State Coaches Association Board a few years ago.

Marker is a product of Capital University, where he was a three-year captain and four-year letter winner on the baseball team. He currently teaches 6th grade math at Olentangy Orange Middle School. He resides in Lewis Center with his wife and three children.

HEAD COACH Welcome to the Orange Softball Program! We would like to thank you for coming tonight as we appreciate all of your support. Over the last year we have spent countless hours preparing our individual skills and mentality. We have really embraced our culture and team first attitude on and off the field. >> VARSITY HEAD COACH

Coach Mason is returning for her second season as the Orange HS softball varsity head coach, after a year as an assistant at Olentangy Liberty. She is a 2013 graduate of Orange where she played softball, basketball, and volleyball. She continued her career at Murray State University where she received a degree in Elementary Education. Coach Mason was a 4 year starter at MSU where she was recognized as an OVC all conference selection, OVC all academic team, and as a team captain. She holds many pitching records at the high school and collegiate level while throwing a pair of perfect games. In Coach Mason’s first season, she led Orange Softball to their first tournament win in 4 years advancing them to the district semi-final. She currently teaches third grade outside of the district, but lives in Lewis Center.

2020 COACHING STAFF

Jarrod Gilliam >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Coach Gilliam is beginning his first season as head varsity lacrosse coach at Orange HS, after being an assistant for the previous two seasons. He is a 2013 graduate of Orange where he played football, basketball and lacrosse. Gilliam graduated from Baldwin Wallace University where he majored in Physics and was a four-year letterwinner in lacrosse, helping lead the team to a share of the regular season OAC conference championship in 2016. He received a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2018 and works as an Engineer at Karpinski Engineering. Coach Gilliam resides in Blacklick with his wife, Kelsey, a teacher at Columbus Academy.

A MESSAGE FROM THE GIRLS LACROSSE

HEAD COACH On behalf of Orange High School, I would like to welcome you to the 2020 girls lacrosse season. Over the past several months, our athletes have been preparing in the gym, on the turf, and in the weight room. We are excited to see their hard work in the preseason pay off during season. This season our team will not only be building their skills but also their memories. Thank you for being at the game tonight. Coach Skrobot

Coach Skrobot - Varsity Head Coach

Mallory Skrobot >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Coach Skrobot is in her second season as head varsity coach for Orange’s girls lacrosse program. In the fall she also served as an Assistant Coach for the school’s field hockey team. Coach Skrobot began coaching girl's lacrosse in 2016 as an assistant coach for the Dublin Jerome Celtics for two seasons. There she helped lead the team to an OCCCardinal Division title in 2016 and a 16-4 record in 2017. She has played lacrosse since middle school and played at the high school level at Bishop Watterson High School and the college level at Wittenberg University. At Wittenberg her team went undefeated in the regular season in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2014, they were the NCAC regular season champions. Coach Skrobot received her degree in Integrated Social Studies and works as the Marketing Manager at the Ohio History Connection.

Karlie Foy >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Karlie Foy is starting her 3rd season as the varsity boys volleyball coach a t Olentangy Orange High School. This 2020 season is her 6th season as an Orange High School coach and her 8th year of coaching volleyball. Karlie is an Olentangy Orange High School Alumni!

After high school she went onto college at Ohio University and then earned a Masters and Education Specialist degree at The Ohio State University. As a coach, Karlie values helping athletes reach their full athletic potential as well as building their leadership and teamwork skills. She is looking forward to this 2020 season and anticipates many exciting and competitive matches. When Karlie is not coaching, she is spending her time with her family, including her newest addition, baby Eliana, or she is in the gym training herself.

A MESSAGE FROM THE TRACK & FIELD

HEAD COACH Welcome to the Orange boys and girls track & field program. We pride ourselves on improving daily and through that commitment to the process, the performances will take care of themselves. We are proud to represent the Orange community around the state and make sure that our character matches our high standard of performance. Thank you for your support and please swing by a track meet this spring to see some of our 300 athletes in the program competing.

Adam Walters Varsity Head Coach

Adam Walters >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Adam Walters is beginning his 7th season as the head boys and girls track & field coach.

Coach Walters graduated from Otterbein University in 2007 where he majored in Biology, while competing for both the track and cross country teams there.

In 2019, the boys and girls teams both captured the OCC Buckeye Division Championship.

The girls also won their first District Championship, while the boys finished 3rd at the State Championships. Since 2015, both the boys and girls teams have captured four OCC titles each, with the boys winning the last four consecutively.

Coach Walters currently teaches Physical Science and Earth/Space Science at OOHS and also coaches the boys cross country team in the fall. He and his wife, April, have five children ages 17, 15, 5, 3, and 4 months old to keep him busy when he’s not coaching.

A MESSAGE FROM THE TENNIS

HEAD COACH Welcome to the 2020 Orange boy’s tennis season. Our schedule will be rigorous, competing against the best teams in the central Ohio area, and state. Last year's team earned a high ranking of #11 in the state of Ohio. While our program looks to help our players improve their tennis game, we emphasize our players to become leaders and outstanding young men. Character development is a primary focus of our team.

Focuses for the 2020 season will be trust, integrity, leadership, commitment, and communication. There will also be an emphasis on developing strategies to improve daily habits to help them build a strong foundation to be prepared for bigger moments that arise both on and off the court.

Please consider coming out to support the boy’s tennis team this season. Our team benefits greatly from family, peer, and community support. All matches are played at Orange Middle school and begin at 4pm.

Matt Rutherford Varsity Head Coach

Matt Rutherford >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Matt Rutherford is entering his 8th season as the head coach for the Orange Boy’s tennis team. This is his 15th year as a High School head boy’s coach. He spent 7 years at St. Francis DeSales High School prior to Orange.

Coach Rutherford has coached his teams at DeSales and Orange to 6 conference championships. Three of his players have been state champions and 11 players have been named All-State in Ohio.

Coach Rutherford teaches in the Math department at Orange High School, currently teaching Geometry and Honors Pre-Calculus. He is in his 15 year of education.

Coach Rutherford played tennis at Upper Arlington High School, and Capital University.

At Capital, he earned All-American honors in both singles and doubles, and was a 4 time conference champion and OAC player of the year his senior year. After college, Coach Rutherford competed in pro level tournaments earning a doubles world ranking of #920 ATP.
