In recent years, Saudi Aramco’s plant has been facing challenges, including equipment tripping and unplanned outages. The Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) was low and the maintenance policy they had in place was mainly reactive.

Due to the combination of a very high volume of equipment and a limited number of available technicians, they faced a lot of time pressure. Fortunately, over the years Saudi Aramco collected a lot of data, but less fortunately, it was unstructured data.
