Under the Stars will be a contemporary style bed and breakfast to suit the growing millennial demographic. It will have 8 astronomy inspired bedrooms named for each of the planets, a common area for guests to socialize, read, and play games, an indoor dining area, and outdoor dining around the perimeter of the courtyard.

The bed and breakfast will be located in Edgar Evins State Park in Silver Point, TN, which is the park closest and most accessible for night sky viewing in the Nashville area, just 70 miles east of the city.

Bedrooms

Room sizes and finishes/themes will be determined by their respective planet.

Some rooms will have a view of the lake, and some will have a view of the trail (or something else tbd).

The Courtyard

The Courtyard will be in the center of the building, with outdoor seating and tables on the outskirts. People will be able to look through telescopes and gaze at the sky, as well as enjoy firepits under the stars.

This project will break away from what we think of as the typical, traditional bed and breakfast, making it more appealing for a younger generation. By being in an isolated location, it will truly fulfill people’s desire for a getaway as well as their fascination with astronomy. It will also serve as a catalyst for focusing on the issue of sky pollution. The International Dark Sky Association (IDA) is the recognized authority on sky pollution, and has taken the lead in identifying and publicizing the harmful effects of artificial light.
