DEDICATION TO THE FIRST SENIOR CLASS OF BELMONT COLLEGE-1955 To you, the pioneers, the founders, the forerunners of a greater Belmont, we dedicate this, the I955 TOWER, with the greatest and humblest of gratitude. We congratulate you, the first graduating class, on your enthusiasm and courage during the years.
You were faithful to your cause; you began your education at Belmont when its future was uncertain, but you have remained to see the fulfillment of your dreams. We shall always remember your faith.

There have been many times when the deadline seemed very far away, and then all too suddenly, it was the next day. Many times we just couldn't 'see our way through' because of our lack of editing knowledge and experience. There have been other times when we felt a great sense of achievement in the work and were proud to be a part of the annual staff.

CHORALEERS Under the capable leadership of Dr. William S. Mathis, the Belmont College Choraleers have won recognition and acclaim for their superior musical renditions. The choir is not limited to music majors only, but is open to anyone who desires to be a member of it. This past year, the choir sang at the Southern Music Educator's Convention in New Orleans and were applauded and commended for their performance. A tour of Middle Tennessee was also a part of the activities for the year. Much hard work has gone into the development of the Choraleers and the result of their success gives recognition to that fact.

The Chi Alpha Nu Society, formerly the XANS, was one of the two social clubs founded in 1951 at Belmont College. In 1954 the name Chi Alpha Nu was adopted. The purpose and object of this society is to form lasting friendships among Belmont College women and to promote their social interests. The society year began in October with a gay gypsy rush party. In January the society entertained its new officers at an open house and in May a social was given in honor of the society's graduating seniors. An annual Christmas party is sponsored each December for the chi Id ren at the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home in Franklin, Tennessee. Belmont Chi Alphas are active in Belmont Coldege campus organizations and many have received honors during the past year. Topping the list was the election of former President Frances Isbell as

The Kappa Delta Sigma was founded in 195l as the Athenian Club, but the Greek letters were chosen in the spring of 1954. Starting this year's calendar of activities was the gay spirited 'Comic Strip' party. The results of that big night was thirty-one new members. During the Fall quarter! the freshmen had as a project a Thanksgiving basket for some needy family. At Christmas the entire club contributed another such basket. At the annual Christmas party the secret pals that were chosen at the beginning of the school year were revealed through the exchanging of gifts. To top off the year's activities, a week-end house party was held at Montgomery Bell Park. At this occasion the new officers for next year were installed. From the Kappa's membership there has come many campus leaders. This year two 'favorites,' three cheerleaders, and three S.G.A. officers were among those chosen.

The Belmont baseball team is proving to be a strong part of the athletic program of the school. In the games played thus far, the team has been very impressive, winning 5 out of 9 games. Brilliant pitching, expert catching, and powerful batters have been the mainstay of the team. Future prospective years look very encouraging to Coach Larry Striplin, with the loss of only one senior, Joe Brantley. The majority of the players are freshmen who are strong enough to aid in producing a favorable reputation in baseball for Belmont College.
