w r a p p e d she works a lot, maybe too hard with her colorful notes and cursive-filled books she knows long words, ones that we haven’t ever seen she’s not afraid to say what she wants she fixates, overreacting about things that don’t matter if we did it, she remembers it
u n w r a p p e d sudden outbursts that escalate so fast I never knew what hit me, crying on the couch, my eyes blurred with regret or anger or pure disappointment, ranting in the car, my body shaking with rage trying to figure out why they did that, the lyrics racing through my head, trying to calm the chaos in my mind, the thoughts that cannot and will not be pushed away, or even the moments where everything’s been airbrushed vivid warm and my eyes are filled with hearts

take a breath, breathe maybe it’ll put your mind at ease or just stop the memories from when we were so carefree, please
explain to me what holds the world’s cracks together, blue and green pearls sift together in a glass jar hurled at passing cars in a highway mural
fireflies flick yes and no if we don’t learn, we cannot grow when we turn the light on, all it shows is how we hide, how little we know
cars speed away at lightning speed driven on by gas and greed if you look ahead, you’ll see you need to start again, to plant a seed
I know we can do it, start a fight build an army, do what’s right sprint ahead into the night our footsteps a path of molten light
