Belmont High School Harvest Garden Project
INTRODUCING OUR FIRST IMPACT PARTNERS!
Belmont High School’s Special Education facility is in the final stages of completing their edible Harvest Garden Project with the help of our $2,000 Impact Partners donation! The garden is focused on project-based learning to develop life skills for students where they will grow and sell organic vegetables within their school community, instilling an understanding of sustainable gardening practices in our next generations. Students will be collecting and utilising the produce seasonally, developing their knowledge on identifying the various planting and harvesting cycles of fruits and vegetables in this climate. Students will also be taught how to read and create recipes around the foods pulled from this garden, as they cook and prepare meals in the Belmont High School facility kitchen. This garden will also provide as a sensory space and chill-out area which is very important for our support students.
“We would like to thank Belmont 16s for their very generous donation under the Impact Partners Program, Belmont 16s Sustainability Initiative. This money will be used towards the completion of the Harvest Garden and levelling the area, ensuring the safe accessibility for all students.”
