Christmas season is indeed special to us, Filipinos as shown by our splendid home decorations, non-stop Christmas songs on our playlist, gift shopping for our long list of inaanak and etc. This is also the time where we all try to put aside our differences and instead, spread the love and joy of the season and wish peace and happiness to everyone. This is an excellent moment to reflect on how much the association has grown since it was established in 1977, what we have achieved through these 40+ years of existence, what lessons we have learned, and how do we improve for growth and betterment in the years to come. We hope and pray that you will continue to work with us in this wonderful yet challenging journey ahead of us. We are excited and proud to present our local artists and performers from Memphis and surrounding areas as we celebrate original Filipino music with 2 prolific artists, Ms. Jam Morales and Mr. Gabby Concepcion. Let us show them our southern hospitality, the beauty and strength of the Filipino-American community unique to the Mid-south. We are indebted to our sponsors who relentlessly support our endeavors so we can continue with our educational, cultural and charitable works. We are thankful and blessed to have participants, officers, board of directors and committee members who voluntarily gave their time, talents and energy to make this event successful. A Message from the President Merry Christmas To All “Together we will make a difference" In this Christmas season, let us open our hearts and fill it with gratitude for the love of our savior, Jesus Christ and for the faithful guidance granted to our Filipino-American community and for the blessings of the 41 years of existence of the Filipino-American association, FILAMemphis Inc. I would also like to express my sincere and heartfelt thanks to the founder and pioneers of FILAMemphis whose mission and passion have inspired us to continue their legacy through a long journey of reflection, unconditional service and solidarity. They are our elders whose trust and encouragement have led us to where we are now. The association was born out from the fellowship of individuals and families of the Filipino American community inspired by their love and commitment to serve others. Our community continues to grow amidst diversity and differences, were we are able to find unity and sense of belongingness. As we move forward with our newly elected leaders, we shall continue to invest and support them for their success in promoting the mission of our association and in service to the families of our community. With His guidance, I hope that we as a community and as an association will experience the true meaning and purpose of our existence in this community. A purpose that transcends familial lines, friendships and affiliations. May all of us find strength in each other as we journey towards fullness of life for us and for the next generations to come. As my term comes to an end, my service and gratitude to you and the community will forever continue. Chairman of the Board BoardBBBoBoard Congratulations to all newly elected officers! I am personally inspired and moved to know that FILAMemphis, Inc is blessed with dedicated members who are passionate in serving the organization. Of the 15 newly elected officers and board members, five of them fall into the demographic group of young adults. That is roughly 33% which is quite significant. We, the leaders of the organization, both past and present, must have done something worth emulating to inspire these young adults to serve the community. Let us continue to inspire them by being their mentors as we gradually mold them to become much better leaders than the generation before them hoping that one day, they will also lead this humble organization of ours. Speaking of service, please do not forget to show your appreciation to all outgoing officers who have tirelessly worked so hard to keep the organization alive and intact. Yes, it is a thankless job but please do not allow the year to culminate without telling these officers how much you appreciate them for what they have done. The organization would not be where it is now if it is not for their hard work and sacrifices. Of course, without your support, there will be no FILAMemphis, Inc. We are expecting close to 420 people in this evening’s event. The anticipated turnout is an attestation of how much the organization has grown through the years. As we continue to grow, FILAMemphis, Inc must also look farther into the future as to how we, as an organization, can positively impact the City of Memphis. In the coming months, you will receive an announcement for an invitation to a town hall meeting to discuss strategic plans as we prepare for growth here in Shelby County. Lastly, I want to wish each and every one a lovely Pasko Sa Memphis evening! Keep your focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Let us not fret over little things but always be thankful for everything. Stay blessed. Mabuhay ang FILAMemphis!

A Message from the Incoming President
I am pleased and honored to welcome everyone as we celebrate Pasko sa Memphis, the annual Christmas celebration of FILAMemphis, Inc. I would like to expresss special thanks to the Special Event Committee members, parents, participants and volunteers for the time and effort they have invested in this affair. To our sponsors, thank you for making this occasion happen. Five years ago, I became a member of FILAMemphis, Inc and I am ever grateful of what this organization has brought to our community and to my family. Being involved in this organization presents many opportunities to learn Filipino heritage, culture and tradition to our children, who will continue to learn and pass on the values to future generations. Being part of this organization also builds friendship and creates an incredible memory with the people we love and care about which develops positive impact, resulted to great closer ties among the Filipino-American community. FILAMemphis, Inc. has been recognized for 41 years and I applaud the pioneers of this organization. Thank you for passing the torch to our generation. It is my privilege to serve, as it is my desire to continue to promote the mission of this organization. Personally, I admire the devotion and commitment of the officers and volunteers in donating countless hours in all of the activities and events of this association.
