Season’s Greetings! FILAMemphis, Inc, initially founded as a social and religious group in 1977, has transformed into a thriving and dynamic non-profit organization. As we approach our 50th anniversary in four years, our growth is a testament to the incredible support from our community. Our success is also attributed to the diverse composition of our leadership, reaching heights we never imagined. Ensuring inclusivity, we provide opportunities for everyone, regardless of age, origin, or background, to showcase their skills, talents, and contributions. Let us also not forget, their passion and dedication to serve. Collaborating with diverse mindsets, we've achieved remarkable feats through unity. Tonight's program, "Halo-halo, Salo-salo, at Sama-sama" (literally translated to “a mix of everything,” “celebration,” and “get-together”), exemplifies our community's diverse talents. From conception to execution, people from various creative backgrounds have contributed to this signature holiday programming. Anticipated by both guests and performers, it's a celebration of the unique skills within our community. As we gather in this iconic venue where the King of Rock and Roll left his mark, I hope you all enjoy tonight's program. Happy Holidays, FILAMemphis, Inc. Community! Here is to another wonderful year to celebrate the Filipino-American community as we conclude our 46th year. As I reflect during this time of cheer, I cannot help but feel an immense amount of joy and pride for FILAMemphis, Inc. The amount of growth we have recently experienced is truly humbling. It simply goes to show the good work that not only the FILAM officers do, but the honorable support you and the rest of the FILAM community have provided throughout the years. As I have always emphasized during my time – whether you are an immigrant or a firstgeneration FilipinoAmerican, speak Ilocano or Cebuano, 5 years old or 50 years old – FILAMemphis has a place for everyone, and everyone has a place in FILAMemphis. I personally thank each and every one of you for your continued support as FILAMemphis, Inc. continues to advocate, educate, and celebrate our beautiful Filipino history. It is because of your continued support, FILAM continues to thrive. I hope you continue to join me and the rest of the officers as FILAMemphis, Inc. continues to grow. For 46 years, this organization has been a home to many, and it will continue to be a home for the many years to come. Once again, thank you. Thank you for being a part of our FILAM Family. - A Message from the SPECIAL EVENTS CHAIRPERSON Bayanihan…this is a word that best describes this organization. Bayanihan is a Filipino word that describes the spirit of selfless sacrifice in helping each other for communal unity and cooperation. As chairpersons in Pasko sa Memphi, we have seen bayanihan epitomized in every aspect. From the instructors, the performers, the organizers, the sponsors and the volunteers. As we close our 46th year as an organization, one word comes to mind, “JOY”. Our culture is known for thriving not only on the challenges of life but also in finding some kind of joy in every occasion. Preparation for Pasko sa Memphis is not for the faint of heart. We encountered a lot of challenges but in spite of it all there is JOY. Joy in watching our youth stepping up leadership roles and helping the community come together. Joy in seeing children learning Filipino words and a Filipino song. And most especially the joy of seeing the beautiful smiles that each and everyone in the community have as we show ‘Bayanihan’ at its best. Yes, in the face of all the challenges, we found joy in being part of this community! Here’s to closing 2023 with a Joyful Christmas and welcoming New Year with Joy in our hearts. Salamat!!!

is a folkdance in the Philippines which is considered to be a favorite of the people of the barrios of the municipality of Bauan, Batangas. It is a ceremonial worship dance performed in homage to the Holy Cross referred to in the vernacular as Mahal Na Poong Santa Cruz.
BANGA
One popular contemporary performance in the Philippines is named after the large banga pots. This performance originated in the province of Kalinga of the Mountain Province. As many as seven or eight pots are balanced on the heads of maidens as they move to the beat of the gangsa, a type of gong, while they go about their daily routine of fetching water while balancing the banga. This is why the tribesmen are known as fierce warriors.

SALIDUMAY
SALIDUMAY is an indigenous folk song associated with the Igorot and Kalinga natives in the northern part of the Philippines. The chants and dances is an expression of community life that animates the various rituals and ceremonies. It serves for self-edification of the performers and entertainment for the spectators.
HAPATONG MALONG
Also called Vinta, this dance is named for the picturesque boat with colorful sails which glide across the Sulu Sea. Central to this dance are the Royal Couple who each balance atop a pair of swaying bamboo poles, simulating their ride aboard a vinta.

TINIKLING 2.0 The modernized version of tinikling incorporates contemporary elements, infusing it with fresh energy and creativity. Dancers now combine traditional steps with innovative choreography, creating a fusion of old and new. This fusion not only pays homage to the roots of tinikling but also adds dynamic flair that resonates with younger audencies
