WOLF RI VER CONSERVANCY' S
17TH ANNUAL TREE PLANTING
With immense pride and purpose, the officers and volunteers of FILAMemphis, Inc. on March 5, 2022, marked a poignant milestone by planting 45 symbolic tree saplings each representing a year of dedicated service to Memphis and Shelby County. Beyond celebrating our organization's legacy, this initiative echoed a broader commitment — not just to the Filipino-American community, but to humanity at large: safeguarding and nurturing our environment for future generations. In collaboration with Wolf River Conservancy's Annual Tree Planting, our dedicated volunteers contributed to the planting of approximately 3,000 trees, encompassing a diverse range including pine oaks, dogwoods, red oaks, and our designated red mulberries. This meaningful collaboration underscores FILAMemphis, Inc.'s enduring commitment, having actively participated in this noble endeavor since 2015, championing both community and environmental stewardship.

FILAM FIELD DAY A TEAM BUILDING PROGRAM FOR THE YOUTH Inspired by the nostalgic memories of school Field Days, our youth envisioned a memorable gathering infused with camaraderie and spirited competition. Adding our unique flair, we orchestrated a vibrant potluck complemented by an array of exhilarating games tailored for our diverse membership. A highlight of this year's program was the much-anticipated debut of beach volleyball. Also, igniting fierce yet friendly competition among three dynamic teams was the Relay Team Competition. Each team showcased their unity and spirit, donning distinctive hues of red, yellow, and blue — from coordinated shirts to spirited face paint. Following a delightful potluck feast, the games commenced, unfolding into hours of spirited play under the sundrenched skies. Amidst intense matchups and impressive displays of skill, the RED team ultimately clinched victory, emerging triumphant from an exhilarating day of camaraderie and competition.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organizers whose dedication and creativity transformed this vision into a delightful reality, igniting joy and excitement among attendees. The name "maBOOhay" ingeniously merges two distinct linguistic elements: "Mabuhay," a warm Filipino greeting meaning "welcome," and "Boo," an English term evoking playful fright. This harmonious blend encapsulates the event's essence, welcoming participants with a spirited twist that celebrates cultural fusion and festive fun.
