Welcome
Another year and another bull season is upon us. It amazes me how one year can change so much in the bull pen and our families. Ray and Mary Ann are still on the farm enjoying having a small group of cows to calve out and the bulls are fed there. We celebrated Rays 80th birthday in April, he showed us who the old ones really are. Mary Ann went riding this summer to the Ya Ha Tinda, we may never see her in the summertime again.
Karen is working at the school again this year, Danna, Charlee, and Trace are involved in 4-H, school sports, archery, ball and in August they took part in the Bashaw All Breeds show which they loved and can’t wait to go back.

Lynn is with homecare and Dallas is still running OSY Rentals. Cole, Owen, and Hayden are busy with hockey and ball. The boys are also in 4-H.
This year I am going to call this pen my limited edition. You will notice there are a few Slapshot and Lit It Ups. We had a little problem with lightening storms in a 3-week period, so we are going to have some new genetics soon.
As of the norm, our bulls are on oats their yearling year then onto grass for the summer. We brought in in October and put on a TMR pellet and silage. Strict culling for temperament and feet. You will also notice there are a select group of bulls that are unregistered. These are the Norman Dewald cows. After Normans passing his cows got taken off whole herd enrollment. Karen and I had the chance to lease the cows but they came with no papers.
For you that knew Norman he was very proud of his cows, and for good reason, these cattle flat out work. It also allowed us to utilize our Chevy bull that many of you have used calves out of in the past. All these bulls will be half red.
We are happy again this year to have Leon and Melissa and kids back in the sale with yearling and 2 year old Angus bulls. Please buy with confidence and get that bull that catches your eye. As always if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to call me. I am always up to talking about bulls. Thanks,
Chad

Welcome to the 2023 Tradition Bull Sale!
Thank you to our customers for your continued loyal support and confidence in our breeding program.
As we enter into our 5th year in the Tradition Bull Sale we would like to acknowledge McKeary Charolais; we couldn’t have asked for a better producer to work alongside. The foundation behind this operations is steadfast and the quality of bulls they offer each year is the true testament.
At Diamond L Ranch our philosophy is to produce profitable cattle. Our cows must be moderate framed, have a large rumen capacity, must be able to wean a calf every year and live for many years. If she needs a lot of mechanical intervention, the profits will be lost. We are striving to reduce the need for iron, the capital cost for machinery repairs and fuel quickly eats away at profits. Our cattle need to work for us and not us for them.
On offer for 2023, we have an excellent group of yearlings and two year olds. Our yearlings come off of a small group of cows and heifers we breed to calve in January-February. This group generally includes our cows carrying embryos and any new additions to our herd. These calves are weaned in early September.
Our two year olds are out of our April-May calving cows; these bulls are born on pasture, lightly backgrounded through the winter and then kicked back out on grass to develop.
We have been working with the nutritionists from Blue Rock Animal Nutrition to feed and raise our bulls in a responsible manner. We raise these bulls to work for you; we want them to be effective and efficient in diverse and challenging environments.
Our customers are of utmost importance to us; let us assist you in achieving your bull buying goals. Call or stop by the ranch anytime and let us assist you in finding a bull that meets your needs. You can also view our bulls on Cattlevids and our Facebook page. Join us March 9th, online, for a live auction through DLMS!
