We were pleased to host long-standing pro bono client KidsCan’s corporate supporters Auckland event, with guests from Woolworths, ASB, Griffins, The a2 Milk Company and Mainfreight in attendance.
Bell Gully chair Torrin Crowther introduced KidsCan’s inspiring CEO, Dame Julie Chapman, who shared the strategic goals and what’s ahead for the charity, that already gives so much to schools and early childhood centres across the country. As well as providing food, jackets and shoes, KidsCan is also increasingly providing health products, and working to tackle alarming rates of dental decay in high deprivation areas, through the introduction of a new dental programme.
Since the end of last year, the charity has taken an additional 60 schools off their waitlist, and demand is only increasing with the cost-of-living crisis.
We also heard from Sandy Stirling, Principal from Don Buck Primary School, who talked passionately about the positive impact KidsCan has had on their tamariki.
Bell Gully has provided pro bono legal advice to KidsCan for over 10 years across more than 50 matters, and it was great to have Bell Gully lawyers Brigit Morrison, Kristin Wilson and Sophie Marris in attendance, all of whom have worked closely with the organisation.
We were excited to get involved in KidsCan’s recent promotion, KidsCanBall, and their final fundraising effort for the year will be the sale of KidsCan’s Christmas Crackers in Woolworths, Harvey Norman and Fresh Choice stores.
