The nine individuals being inducted into the class of 2026 represent the Jesuit values and traditions that have been the foundation of our school since 1854.
The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize members of the community who participated in, excelled in, developed, or supported the Belen community. In addition, throughout their endeavors, they have exemplified the Catholic-Jesuit values of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, El Colegio de Belén, and Jesuit schools in Cuba. The inaugural ceremony was held in 2022.
These individuals embody our core values: Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, Magis, and Cura Personalis. Throughout our extraordinary history, so many have helped shape the school into what it is today. Belen was built on the shoulders of giants, and through the Hall of Fame, we aim to highlight those individuals who have genuinely left their mark on the school.
For more information on all inductees, including tribute videos, visit www.belenjesuit.org/HoF.

Joaquín was born on May 9, 1860, in Santiago de Cuba. He attended El Colegio de Belén in Havana and was a member of the Class of 1878. At a time when urology was still emerging as a medical discipline, Dr. Albarrán helped define it. Through meticulous surgical technique, scientific precision, and inventive brilliance, he transformed the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract diseases. In 1912, he received a posthumous nomination for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Alberto was born on December 19, 1954, in Havana, Cuba, and is a proud member of the Class of 1972. Over the course of his distinguished career as an ophthalmologist, he has performed more than 100,000 surgical and laser procedures. Dr. Arán has remained deeply committed to his alma mater as a benefactor to the cross country program, the Fr. Benito Viñes, S.J. Observatory, and the Our Lady of Belen Chapel. He and his wife, Ary, served as Parent Advisors for their son Tito’s Class of 2023 for seven years. In 2023, Eddie was also named Alumnus of the Year in recognition of his many years of service. He and Ary have two children.

He and his wife, Alina, have three children and eleven grandchildren.
Tom Llamas was born in Miami, Florida, on July 2, 1979, and is a proud member of the Belen Class of 1997. He was very involved in the Speech and Debate and Drama clubs; the friendships forged during his years as a Wolverine remain strong to this day. From local newsrooms to the national stage, Tom’s career reflects relentless dedication and journalistic excellence. An Emmy Award–winning reporter and anchor, he has become one of the most trusted voices in American news. Tom is married to Jennifer and has three children.

Orlando was born on August 4, 1953, in Havana, Cuba, and is a proud member of the Class of 1971. He served the community for decades as a vascular surgeon, pioneering multiple minimally invasive vascular procedures. Orlando served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2016 to 2022 and chaired the Belen Alumni Association Section of Health Care. He has also been a dedicated class delegate for more than five decades. Orlando is married to Alison. He has five children and three grandchildren.

Armando was born in Matanzas, Cuba, on October 27, 1945. He began teaching at Belen Jesuit in 1972. Over his nearly 40-year tenure at Belen, Armando wore many different hats and was responsible for creating several of the traditions that exist today. From classroom teacher to Dean of Students to Assistant Principal, he led with passion and exemplified his vocation. He is married to Norma, and they have three daughters and five grandchildren.

In 2010, Bishop Wenski was installed as Archbishop of Miami. Throughout his more than 15-year tenure, he has shown steadfast support for Belen Jesuit. His unwavering dedication to the priesthood and his example as the Shepherd of the Archdiocese of Miami serve as an inspiration to the Jesuits and the entire Belen community.

The Belen Alumni Office will be able to help in the nomination process.

This award is given to the alumnus who best demonstrates dedicated service to Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, lives a life of moral virtue, and is a leader spiritually, ethically, and financially for the betterment of his Alma Mater and community.
Alfred Consuegra ’84, a member of the Belen Jesuit Class of 1984 and current class delegate, has been named the 2026 Alumnus of the Year.
As a student, Alfred made history as Belen’s first “Waldo,” proudly wearing the mascot costume and demonstrating a school spirit that has never dimmed. He also participated in Belen Youth Missions led by Fr. Eddy Alvarez, S.J. ’63 an experience that helped shape his lifelong commitment to service.
A devoted alumnus, Alfred has generously contributed his time and talents to numerous campus construction projects that have enhanced the student experience. Among the most significant is the creation of the Arroyo Quad, a green space that honors the Jesuits who have faithfully served Belen in Miami over the decades. Most recently, he played a leading role in the complete redesign of the Middle School locker rooms in the Roberto C. Goizueta Innovation Center.
“Alfred is a prime example of someone who embodies Belen’s core values and personifies enthusiasm and school spirit,” said Fr. Willie S.J. ’87. “I am blessed to call Alfred a friend and to witness the man he is—not only a proud Belen alumnus, but more importantly, a loving husband and father.”
Alfred lives the magis in both word and action. He is the co-founder of LIFO Missions Group, which has served communities in the Dominican Republic for 40 years. Although his father graduated from La Salle in Cuba, Alfred chose to become a Wolverine—along with his two sons, AJ ’16 and Luis ’22. He continues to serve his alma mater as a mentor to students and young professionals through the Beyond Belen program.
I’m surprised, but extremely grateful and humbled to receive this recognition,” Alfred shared. “After serving behind past Alumnus of the Year honorees José M. Gonzalez ’91, Eduardo J. Garcia ’87, Roberto Surís ’79, and José L. Toledo ’96—I hope my energy continues to light the fire of future recipients. My alma mater is my home and my community. I strongly believe I am a better man today—and will be better tomorrow because of my fellow Belen brothers. Belen has given my family and me the grace of community, the backbone that shapes me into a Man for Others.”
He added, “To my classmates from the Class of 1984, thank you for 49 years of friendship. To my family who keep me humble my wife, Boli, and my children, Caro, Daniela, AJ, Elena, and Louie thank you for your love and support.”
Alfred serves as a Project Executive at Vilar-Hoynack Construction, a Miami-based general contracting firm. “The State of Florida may call me a general contractor,” he said, “but my passion is waking up every morning and building something. I have always considered myself a builder of family, brotherhood, relationships, hope, and dreams. The process of building ignites me to push the limits of serving others. This is what Belen taught me, and this is what fuels my calling to serve the Kingdom of God.”
He studied Architecture and Construction Management at the University of Miami and Florida International University and earned a Master’s in Business in 1998.
In honor of this recognition, a digital billboard will be on display on the Palmetto Expressway & Bird Road from March 23 to April 13, 2026, and at Dadeland Mall from March 23 to April 23, 2026.
