My favorite song is Damn It by Pitbull because it feels good to be a "gangstaf" the most thrilling thing that I have ever experienced was watching Zubi crash his sister's car into a'ttee; now that's funny! The thing that i hate most at school is DQ's class j/k i love ' him :). My most most painful experience was breaking my leg in second grade.

My favorite movie is "Remember the Titans" because it is inspiring. My most painful experience was missing the track record by .04 seconds; I was sooooo closet My proudest Belen moment was scoring the Winning touchdown against Gulliver last year.

John Paul II's amazing

The world mourned the loss of the beloved Pope John Pau l I I. Many traveled to Rome to see the funeral Mass but for those who could not make it, Belen held a mass on April 8 in honor of the Pope The entire Bel en ··" family, as well as families from around the community packed into Belen's gym to hear mass and learn about John Paul I I' s life. One of the most poignant aspects of his life occurred when he visited in prison and forgave the Turkish man who tried to asssasi nate him.

This year's Close Up trip was one for the ages. The students saw our Nation's Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and even two concerts. The concerts had the likes of such superstars as Hillary Duff, 13-year-old sensation "JoJo", Ruben Studdard, and Ryan Cabrera. Led by Close Up superstars Mr.

Pat Collins, Mr. Tomas De Quesada, and Mr. Jose Roc a, the students saw the

• Inaguration of President George W. Bush Jan. 20th. Overall the trip was a success.

When asked about his experience, senior Eduardo Pizarro said, "We learned a lot, Washington is really nice, and it creates a vivid high school memory that I could carry with me for the rest of my life."

This fall Grandparents Day was held on September 25 th . The 7th graders an their respective grandparents began he day with a Mass held by Fr. Sardinas SJ in the Roc a Theater. The acti viti es enjoyed by all included bingo and dominoes. Karaoke was also a big hit among many of the grandparents.

"To tell you the truth, I wasn' really expecting to have much fun wi h my grandparents, but they proved me wro g when I saw how violent they can get during a game of dominoes," said Ste a no Natali.

On November 20th the new 6th grader , for the first time, came together as a whole and competed in the traditional Mini Olympics. Along with their family, the 6th grade homeroo friendly competitions in several events s basketball and the relay race. After all had passed, it seemed that the room that came out to be victorious was ho room 6B.

Father Son Day and Family Day story by Mike Verwey and Chris Mouriz photos by Danny Caridad and Maria Juncadella

Father Son Day is a day where fathers team up with their dads and play sports and games with other fathers and sons. The day begins with a Mass and then they go to play games. Fathers and sons play games such as basketball, vall eyball, dominoes, and ping pong. At the end of the day no one walks away a loser.

Family Day gives family that don't spend too much time together an opportunity to cherish the time that they have together by playing sports and just plain having fun. It is a day of fun in the sun. You get to play ping pong, football, vollyball, and even checkers. Nick Mouriz said, "I really had fun playing sports with my family, It gave me the chance to show my family how skilled I am."

Once again springtime has come, and students reach a l eve l of i n c a l c u l a b l e restlessness because they have to find a way to spend their two weeks off from learning. Sure, there are their various trips to church during Holy Week. However, this only makes a small dent in their free time.

"I don't understand why we get all of these days off from school. It's really a childish tradition started by some lazy person," said senior Mario Almeida. He went on to say, "I count down the days until Spring Break ends. I need the structure Belen gives me on a daily basis to get me through the day." On the other hand, many students preoccupy themselves by leaving their familiar Miami environment to explore the world.

Senior Billy Gil , beats depression, by listening along as President Franklin Rossevelt gives his weekly fireside chat at Close Up.

Members of the French club splurged on their annual trip to Versailles.

On the night of March 4th, 2005 the freshmen had their "awesome" formal. About 110 couples showed up that night in the cafeteria. According to many students, the highlight of the night was when Ms. Suarez and Mr. Sucena started to "break it down" to the disco music. Another highlight that everyone was talking about was when all the students "party boyed" Mr. Sucena. Tommy Robaina said "Mr. Sucena is a dancing machine." Nichol as Mouriz, "The Party Animal", said that "Mr. DO and Ms. Suarez could not have done a better job setting up the formal. But the one thing that I didn't like was that I could only bring one date".
