REV. FELIPE ARROYO S.J. PRESIDENT

Once again, it is time for the yearbook. So~e new faces can be seen around the school, and some old faces have disappeared, but the majority is the same. We are one year ol4er and have grown physically, but the important thing is whether or not there has been psychological growth whether we have matured as individuals and as Christians. It occurred to me that one way we could measure this growth might be to analyze the way in which we open the yearbook. ·

If I open the book anxiously seeking myself, my picture .at different times and in different poses, and I gaze at the pictures purely for the reason of seeing the faces of those I have coexisted with for a time, then I have only grown physically. However, if I open the yearbook with the satisfaction that I will find friends that I really care about inside, and I see this yearbook not as a symbol of a "peaceful coexistence" but as a continuation of a dynamic, humane life if I cherish these images with the warm feeling that I have lived a por_tion of my life with friends that I will take with me wherever I go and sharing with them common ideals and Christian pursuits, then I can believe that I have grown psychologically as well.

That which Belen is striving for is just this that we live together more aware of our relations with others and our responsibility to others. Let us hope that we have succeeded in this regard in the year that has passed.

Belen's Forensics Club maintained for a third consecutive year its winning streak this year. The team managed to capture once more the Sweepstakes Trophy of the Catholic Forensic League in South Florida, winning six of the seven tournaments held this year. At the Grand Final Tourament Belen placed five competitors in the National Tournament held in Detroit. Among these was Julio Ruiz who reached Quarter-Finals in the category of Dramatic Interpretation. Another group of students from Belen made it to the State Tournament in Tampa in the category of Group Interpretation and won second in the State. Truly this was an exciting season for the team which has given much prestige to the school.

Prom 1976

This year's prom, the best ever, was the culminating social event for the depaning seniors of Belen. The disco sounds of "Ecstacy" filled the atmosphere until two in the morning with fun and excitement. Panies and breakfast followed, and all came to an end by dawn. It was a night that will be treasured by all and a fitting farewell for our seniors.
