If there is one man that shows the true spirit of Belen it is Mariano Loret de Mola. He is a man who gives himself fully to reach a goal which he has set for himself - whether it is winning a basketball game or running the school.
As Assistant Principal, he realizes that the unpopular job of keeping order is his responsibility and tries to be fair in all disciplinary problems brought to him.
As coach of both Basketball and Baseball, he led both teams to triumphs never before reached by Belen teams. In Basketball the varsity enjoyed a 21 and 9 record and the J. V. a 28 and 0 record their best ever. He led the Baseball team to first place in the Gulfstream Finals.
Aside of Mariano's two major roles he teaches Spanish and is always there when he is needed - whether to organize the tombola or to give ·advice to a student.
Mariano is a man who has taken the right road in the entangled expressway of life - the road· of devoting himself to others. It is in this spirit of appreciation and gratitude of his work in bettering Belen, that we dedicate this issue of Echoes 1971 to Mariano Loret de Mola.

The Wolverine is one of the most thievish, daring, powerful animals in the world. It is the largest .member of the weasel family. A ruthless killer, the wolverine makes sport of trappers, not only eating their bait, but usually carrying off or destroying the traps as well.
THE WOLVERINE MEANS BELEN •••
In the covers of vocational-orientation books, it was common to sketch a crossroad. What road should be taken?
The yearbook staff has selected a similar symbol for this term's edition.
Of course, the inside cover picture is modernistic. They are not two paths which come apart like rays in an angle. It is an intersection of various expressways, with curving traits of an interchange center.
The graph does not symbolize the particular case in selection of a career; it wants to reflect symbolically the complex society in which they will have to live, where the influences come and go, change and remain the same.
In order to avoid confusion in that laberynth, there is no other choice than to follow the guidelines. How difficult life will be in the XXI Century: turbulent speeds, firm hands on the wheel.
Belen wants to prepare those drivers of modern life. Each one will be self-conscious, never resting comfortable in a social group. However, they will take the responsibility of their own personal treks or flights.
Among the hundreds of drivers that will graduate in '71. Belen aspires to present 26 graduates capable of receiving recognition as masters of the steering wheel of life.

You usually see her in her office hurrying to prepare grades or handling school correspondence. At other times, if you peeked into 7C, you could see her teaching Spanish.
Mrs. Ana Solana, or as we all know her, "Ana" has become a part of the Belen way of life. Her work as secretary and teacher has been so outstanding that we, the yearbook staff, dedicate this page for her.
To really appreciate Ana, one must know Belyn and its way of life. What Ana has added to each one of us is something which can not be measured here.
