IS THE EASO I LIVE A L I CAN GIVE
The Class of '69 chose the song "To Give" as their theme song. We the Echoes' staff, would also like to use this song, not as a theme song but to show what the life of our Rector, Father Baldor, has been He hasdedicated his life to an ideal, the Church and Belen. This year marks the fiftieth year since he graduated from Belen and also marks the fiftieth year since he made the decision to serve the Church as a Jesuit pr i est.
Father Baldor, to show you our deep appreciation for what you have done for the Church and for Belen we dedicate this yearbook to you, the man who knows how "To Give."
Leaving Belen School a "few" years ago, I carried a treasure with me. The treasure I possessed was not a material one, but one which -involved seventeen years of my youth. My convictions, my stirring enthusiasms, my plans and my prospects would soon be a reality. Also, my treasure consisted of the many friends I had made during my years at Belen. A wonderful gift was presented to me; life, like a road was opened before my astonished eyes.
Leaving my School, I carried an even greater gift, the realization that Someone had sacrificed His precious life to help all of us I carried my faith with me and I trusted in Him.
I understood that my treasure was not for me alone ; it was to be shared by other people. I understood that the secret of happiness is in giving rather than in receiving. This must be an "inherent gift" not a •'hidden treasure.''

To give is the reason I live. To give all I can give In return for the hfe That I've earned.
I was born As a part of the plan With the heart of a man With a will to survive.
And I believe Everything on thts earth Having meaning and worth Made of concrete and air Is to share.
And to feel justified I extSt, To be scribed on the list Of someone With a place in the sun.
Here I stand. Reaching out for the sky Till the day that I die, I must give all I can.
When I go, I '11 go out empty handed, Leaving dust to the land, Just the soul I have found, Leaves the ground

FRIENDSHIP AND COOPERATION ARE DAILY DEVELOPMENTS OF OUR SOCIETY
The Belen family gathers to celebrate Christ's birth.
Fr. Lemus brought us new experiences from the Dominican Republic.
. a way of uniting the Belen family.
A new experience which led students to discover new aspects in life.
The Seniors leave. The Juniors officially assume the responsibilities of being a Senior: among them, the school itself.
Fr. Alberto Garcia, S. J., Fr. Manuel Maza, S. J. and Fr. Eduardo Barrios, S. J., receive the Minor Orders from Msgr. Fitzpatrick.
Another step towards their goal ... priesthood.

Their job is to cheer and cheer they do
Their job is to yell and yell they do
They keep the spirit high no matter what. They share the happiness of a victory, and the agony of defeat. We are very thankful to our cheerleaders for their magnificent job.
HAVE YOU GOT THAT SPIRIT ... ?
This year Belen's baseball team, under the coaching of Mr. Mariano Loret de Mola, had another successful season. The Wolverines ended the season with a (6-4) record.
And now is our clean up batter's turn
I hope there's nothing wrong with this bat.
If I catch it, I'll be the hero; if I miss I'll be the goat. I think I'll catch it.
They are always ready.

Oh, oh, it looks like we are in trouble
"Prepared for a world 'directed towards progress' dynamically thriving. To be static is to be relaxed, in effect to be dead. It is absurd and improbable for nineteen youths of this caliber to remain stationary "
" ... Search for more adequate solutions; even so in religion, time may surpass antiquated formulations, and it is your solemn duty to adapt reality to the period in which you live .... "
Advance with confidence, security, don't feel overprotected."
Words from Fr. Baldor's speech to the graduates.
Belen signifies much more than the simple idea of the word. It's like our "second home, " but not characterized by the trite habits of everyday living. It is here in Belen where we find a more intimate depth in our personal, intellectual, social,· and ·moral formation, which together form the true traits of a mature adult. And utilizing our ideas and endowments, set a dignified example for all to follow; becoming an eternal torch, burning brightley, illuminating the "road of truth."
Words from Angel Garrido's speech to the graduates.
