Due to Covid-19, most students were stuck at home during the summer, and yearly summer trips like Asia and Europe were canceled. This led to students staying in state for summer vacation. However, this did not stop sixth grader Maximo Anderson from making fun plans. D.ter the summer, Maximo and his family took a road trip to Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico.
While on the trip, they saw popular national parks and national landmarks such as the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Park.
"My favorite national park was Bryce Canyon because they had stacked formations of giant rocks called hoodoos," said Anderson.
He further stated, "When we went horseback riding in Colorado, the scenery was beautiful, the weather was fantastic, and we even saw a llama!"
1, With Utah's Bf'/Ce ('.anyon behind him, Maximo smiles cheekily at the camera.
2. In Arizona, Maximo takes in the majesty of the Grand Canyon.
3. From atop hie noble steed, Maximo rides through Durango, Colorado.

It is times likethese when Belen Men are called tc serve t:fiair community more than ever.
While most people were quarantined, various studenui such es junior Tomes Duque were out there working for ttiose in need. Whan Duque was asked to further elaborate on his service project, he organized an event where Belen KeyClub collected and dispersed a bunch of 201b boxes from Unity Groves to multiple homeless shelters in Miami with the help of Braddock KeyClub. Unity Groves is a farm in Homest.eadthat sells tropical fruits and various vegetables nationwide.Theyhave programs where they donate hundreds of boxes of food to different communities throughout Miami-Dade County and Monroe County. It amazed ma that we ware able to complete such an impactful project,• said Duque.
Another excellent example of a student using his ingenuity to help his community is sixth grader Michael Zantua'sfree library. When he was around five or six years old, Zantua was inspired by a commercial about a girt who sterted a little free library, and he decided he wanted to create one as well.
"I creat.edthis library because I feel like everyone should have the chance to reed a book,• said Zantua.
It works by people in his community either taking or donating books at any time.

Over the pandemic, the love for cars and boats has died down. Fortunately, the return to school has been bringing back the love for many people's favorite modes of transportation.
Whether you fish, wakeboard, or simply hit the sandbar, everyone has a love for boats. Two such people are seniors Manuel Rodriguez and Alejandro Melo, who like to show off their boats whenever they can.
Seniors and juniors look forward to having their car in the parking lot. The seniors on this page showed great pride in the vehicle they drive to school in every day.
One such example is senior Andres Sendra's 1985 Mercedes G Wagon, which the phrase "old but gold' describes perfectly.
"I have always been in love with vintage cars." says Andres. This car is his pride and joy. He says he washes it almost every day, and makes sure that it never has an issue.

When it comes to looking good, you have to talk to junior, Robert.a Lizama. His most used quote is "Look good, play good". Looking your best. or "drippy" is not only expressed in sports clothes; it can also be expressed in everyday clothes, shoes or accessories.
At Belen, one thing you can use to express yourself is your backpack. Oliver Romanach, Daniel Casariego, and Carlos Perez-Abreu all use their backpacks to show their interests: Oliver Romanach with his cool pokemon themed backpack. Carlos PerezAbreu with his amazing Spider-Man backpack. and Daniel Casariego with his Buzz Lightyear backpack.
Shoes have become a big fashion statement in the last decade, with the most well known basketball shoe being Air Jordana. These shoes can range anywhere from two hundred to five thousand dollars, so if you see one of these shoes, you can assume that the person wearing them has some swagger. Adison Arnholt and Daniel Alexander Orta both have Air Jordana; Addison is wearing the Platinum Tint 11 's and Daniel Alexander Ort.a is showing off the Jordan Retros.

The English and Humanities departments at Belen not only teach students how to critically analyze stories and media, but also provide outlets for them to create their own. The various courses affersd in each department give stude~ a deep Ioele intn works and styles from many different cultures and time periods, as well as show them ttle means and techniques to create and perform. To achieve this, the t.eachers use interactive and stimulating assignments, like Ms. OIMa Zarraluqui setting up group activities to help her pupils underst.andand break down differentpoems,or Mr. Francisco Padura gMng skits and improv exercises to introduce his to ttle craft af acting. There are also times when both subjects intertwine, such as when there is a lesson on interpreting and understanding a worlcof visual art in Ms. Sendra Vi~ class.

As students living through an ongoing pandemic, we have come 1Dwitness how histDry tends 1Drepeat itself as time progresses. This year, the social 6b.ldies department made sure that students would come to know this truth end live by it.
Teachers like Dr. Luis DinnellaBorrego, incorporated fun activities into lessons and took the extra steps they thought necessarywhen teaching their students. Being given th1enickname by his students, Dr. Luis Dinnella-BorTego loves 1Ddress up as historical figures in orderto give his students a visual representation of the figures they are learning about.
O:her teachers, likE1Mrs. Marisol Delgado, give their students group assignments, so that students can leem how 1Dco lieborate with others in effective end efficient ways.

Something tttat Belen is very proud to haveis its abundance of clube, organizations, and extracurricular activities. The veriety of options allow students to pursue ttteir passions and interesa:; in a plethora of fields. While some want to explore ttte cosmos in Astronomy Club, ottiers want to create elaborate end tttrilling campaigns with ttteir friends in 020 Club. No matter what type of person you are, Belen has a community for you. This year was part.icularly difficult for clubs to meet and organize, yet tttey were able to find creative ways to overcome these newfound challenges and continue onward. Whether it be through ZOOM,Discord,or other venues, the clubs persisted and survived.

Aft.er a lengthy process of planning, coordinating, and preparing, Belen was able to set up the first major event of the school year after quarantine: Spirit Day. The Class of 2027 and the Class of 2024 arrived at school and participated in a plethora of exciting and competitive activities, ranging from dodgeball and flag football to trivia and video games. With the help of the faculty, delicious food, and sick beats provided by our resident DJ, senior Daniel Oliva, Spirit Day was a massive success. Also, thanks to the measures put in place to ensure the safety of the students, not a single attendee was infected by CXMD-18.

Celebration of Faith
After a year of ups and downs, there was one thing that remained consistent, our undying feittl in God. While our events did not go exacdy as planned, we still found ways t.o honor Christ in everything we did as a community. We figured out how t.o celebrate Mass togettier from a distance. Mr. Jost! Del served the Belen community faithfully fer 1 5 years as a teacher of meth, physics, end engineering. I remember clearly when a few years ago he opted to resign from Belen end work et e school closer t.o his home. Aft.er only e few months, he called t.o say he missed Belen so much end he wanted t.o return. We were thrilled he was back. Mr. Del was dedicated t.o his vocation of teaching and laved watching his students excel in the subjects he taught them. His enthusiasm was contagious and there is no doubt that he left his mark on the Belen community. He will be sorely missed.

"Anthony impacted my life through his continuous strength and his approach to life. Throughout his entire life he shewed perseverance and by doing so, ha taught ms to push through difficult t.imes. Due to his experiences, I knewI could do more and achieve great things. His approach to life was inspiring to ms, as ha had it wry difficult and was always happy, bringing jay to me. His passion for superheroes was fascinating which got me into it. His enthusiasm and care for others was also motivating, showing me to do the same. He was truly an example of a man for others."
- Gabriel Bustamante
"Anthony impacted my life by shewing me, and others, haw to fight. His journey over the past year proved to me how strong he was, and taught me haw to be strong and work through hardships with a smile on your face and a posit.iveatt.itude. The impact he had on my life is immeasursble and he helped me become a better man."
- Joseph Duren
"I never knew thet knowing someone for a year and a half could impact me so much. Knowing Anthony tn.ily taught me to be nnyselfand to be thankful for haw biassed I am. His journey taught ms to realize that the little things thet most people complain about are not import.ant because some people have it worse. Anthony was s tn.ie warrior, friend, and brother. I will dearlymiss him."
- Diego de la Hoz
"Anthony taught me thet loving and enjoying your friendships with others was keyto happiness in life. Everyone Anthony met was left with a positive impression and everyone who saw him knewhe was a good person with good intentions. I am a believer of the feet that God made Anthony for a good purpose, the purpose of uniting a community of people. Anthony's impact will be forever felt within Belen and throughout the world."
- Eduardo Alcaine
"Although the time I spent with Anthony was confined, he impacted my life in a way that has changed me forever. "Anthony was more than a friend to me, he was my brother. Anthony impacted my life in many ways, he taught me many things. He showed what it is like to truly be a friend. His love was stronger than anything. Without a doubt. he was there, wherever, whenever. Anthony taught me to be a better man, to always give one hundred and ten percent on everything I do. He taught me to be there for anyone who might need it. Even if you weren't good friends with Anthony, ha would still find common ground and talk to you for hours, he would make you feel like you had known each other for years. Anthony taught me what it is to be a dedicated man. Anthony would study and do his work all the t.ime, and he got the best grades. He read the biggest books I've ever seen and was able to complete them in a couple days. When it came to his friends, he never gave up. Although he would get sick and throw up when running too much, he was there every single time to have fun. When we wanted him to play Xbax, he would take a couple minutes out of his to make sure he at least got on to say 'hi" et the pafW. Anthony was the toughest men I know: it doesn't matter if you can bench four hundred pounds, or deadlift eight hundred, his loving and caring heart could double that waight alone. Anthony will forever be in my heart and by my side £Neryday. He is in ell the decisions I make, and ell the people I make smile. Anthony had a huge impact in my life, and I know he impacted the lives of many others. He will truly be missed." - Jared Martinez
•Anthony impacted my life by being a friend I could always lean on, end he showed me whet true strsngth and faith are. He always fought and stayed strong, and he never blamed God for anything. Even with all that he was going through, he remained faithful to the Lord, which is something I admire. Anthony was really kind, which is something I always admired as wall. Anthony has impacted me in so many ways and he is someone who will always have an impact on my life.• - Matthew Calero

As everv year at Belen comes to a close, we express gratitude for the education that we have received here at Belen, the activities planned for us, and most of all, each other. This year is no different. Amidst all of the challenges and difficulties faced by each and everv person, the yearbook staff was able to design and produce Echoes Volume 59. While creating this yearbook in these tremulous circumstances, many changes had to be made in order to make up for the clubs and events that were cancelled. The yearbook staff, made up of a group of creative and bright students along with their extremely dedicated and amazing teacher, Mrs. Sandra Vieta, took up this challenge. She ensured that the staff worked to the best of their abilities, met the deadlines, and submitted quality work. The staff themselves found various ways to adapt to this unorthodox school year, such as new forms of interviewing students and venturing to take pictures whenever they could. In the end, the Echoes team was able to produce a masterfully crafted yearbook which, although different from previous years, was no less effective in portraying the essence of Belen. This was also achieved with the help of our Herff Jones rep, Vicky Aguirre, who we greatly appreciat.e because she was always ready to fix any issue we encount.ered with a positive attitude and her endless words of wisdom. We would also like to thank Uly Lopez and his t.eam from HJ Miami for scheduling three picture days for us this year and for tracking down all lost photos, and Carlos Jimenez who assisted us in using the technology and designing the layouts. Lastly, a huge thank you goes out to Teresa Martinez, Maria Dinnella - Borrego, Father Julio Minsal, S.J., and Victor Arrieta for their talented photography and willingness to share it all with us, and, of course, to all teachers who assisted us in identifying the masked students throughout the yearbook. Everv member of Echoes, whether it be faculty or student, was a key component in producing this yearbook during these arduous times and we are proud to present a compilation of joyous and triumphant moments brought about by the Belen family.
With love and gratitude,
Miguel Camacho, Editor in Chief
