About Leif Bjørnø International Students Award Leif Bjørnø International Student Award “FOR BEST GRADUATE STUDENT PAPERS“ was established in 2017 as a part of Underwater Acoustics Conference, - UACE - to boost the interest in Underwater Acoustics from young scientists. Since 2017 a competition among graduate students on the presentation of the best papers is arranged during the Conference, and Leif Bjørnø International Student Award presented at the closing ceremony of the Conference. First, second and third place are honored with medals and diplomas, and best paper is honored with students grant. History of Leif Bjørnø International Student Award appearance UACE 2017 was dedicated to the memory of Leif Bjørnø, cofounder and co-chairman of Underwater Acoustic Conference Series since 2005. He passed away unexpectedly on 24 of October 2015. First time Leif Bjørnø International Student Award was presented during the Underwater Acoustic Conference in 2017 in Skiatos, where his cremated body of Leif Bjørnø was spread at sea as a symbol og unification of the great scientist with World Ocean (partly, the same ceremony took place in Danmark, close to island Bornholm, performed by military ship, in autumn 2017). The Scientific Committee and the Organizers of UACE2017 were able to continue the long history of successes of the ECUA, UAM and UACE Conferences after leif Bjørnø death. This international event has always attracted a large number of scientists and engineers from Europe, the United States, Canada, China, Japan etc, and have become an established forum for the presentation of the latest developments in all major areas of Underwater Acoustics.
