Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, Laurence Jenkell is a self-taught French contemporary artist, internationally renowned for her iconic Wrapping Bonbon sculptures.
Born on December 31, 1965, she lives and works on the French Riviera. Deprived of sweets in childhood, she developed a lasting fascination with candy an obsession she transformed, starting in the mid-1990s, into a universal artistic symbol. By revisiting her memories, she elevated the Bonbon into a true artwork, blending joy, nostalgia, and emotional resonance.
Her signature twisting technique, born from years of experimentation with materials like plexiglass, bronze, and Murano glass, has become her creative language. More than a playful shape, the Bonbon reflects freedom, transformation, and the enduring sweetness of childhood reimagined through the lens of contemporary art.
Her works are now collected and exhibited worldwide.
