TECH AND INNOVATION

DR ANDREW LEECH

BEAU SKERRETT

Dr Leech has over 20 years’ experience developing technology in the biotech industry, commercialising animal health, aquaculture, agriculture, and human therapeutic products.

Beau grew up on a mixed cropping, cattle, and sheep farm in Werris Creek, NSW. After working worldwide for the world’s top polo players, and managing a small herd of full-blood wagyus, Beau now runs his own property alongside his wife outside Warwick, QLD.

Bovotica

Product Bovotica is a methane reduction technology that reduces enteric methane emissions from cattle while driving a production efficiency. The technology is a synbiotic, a mixture of probiotics and prebiotics that will be administered via an oral drench. Ideally it will be dosed to weaning calves, as this is the optimum time to program the rumen into a low methane state, but can be used on all cattle. Because the product utilises endogenous microbes it will only need infrequent or even a single administration of the synbiotic for significant methane reduction. The prebiotic can be incorporated into cattle feed to help maintain the probiotics in the rumen.

StockProtecta

Product StockProtecta was created to address prevalent challenges in cattle yards, serving as a robust and portable visual barrier that prevents stock from attempting to turn around in the race. It reduces distractions from the surrounding area, enhancing yard flow. The system contributes to the improvement of the cattle and calf race, loading ramp, and aids in preventing livestock bruising. Through extensive testing (18 months), StockProtecta has proven to be a convenient, portable, and swift solution for assisting farmers and their cattle in various yard scenarios.

Bronwyn’s experience is born from living and working on the family’s 5,000-acre cattle and sheep property, with over 30 years industry experience and a PhD in Economics.

Joanne, a seasoned executive, has expertise spanning across complex regulations, harmonising carbon markets, and value chain management for successful product launches.

Luke, a fourth-generation grazier from north-west Queensland, is the founder of SkyKelpie and a leader in the agtech field due to his expertise in drone mustering.

Agscent Breath

Product Agscent pioneers breathbased livestock diagnostics - set to revolutionize methane measurement, pregnancy testing, and disease diagnostics with an affordable, cutting-edge nanotechnology platform. Agscent products collect and analyse animal breath and use algorithms to predict pregnancy, screen for disease and identify other biological states (such as methane levels) in a way which is easy to use, non-invasive, efficient, accurate, early, affordable and at the point of care. Agscent’s versatile GHG sensor unit measures continually and can be used for both individual and group measurements, indoors or outside – on its own or integrated into farm infrastructure. 28

Magic Meat Powder

Product Years of CSIRO-backed research has led to a process which converts low-value meat into a nutrient-dense and allergen-free ingredient, which can be added to any food product or sold as a supplement. Magic Meat Powder is positioned to increase the value we can obtain from a single animal entering the food chain. Our product not only addresses the current demand for bioavailable protein, it also aims to support the future demand to feed two billion extra people on the planet by 2050. We will build a strong Australian brand and establish our meat protein powder as a soughtafter and trusted, highly nutritious, shelf staple and soluble protein ingredient on a global scale.

SkyKelpie

Product SkyKelpie is the world-leader in drone mustering and aerial stockmanship. A range of products are being built that will help livestock handlers unlock the numerous benefits of this solution. SkyKelpie is already developing drone mustering systems and technology from the paddock up, backed by deep industry knowledge and practical experience. The company aims to empower graziers by unlocking regulations and technology and deliver industry specific training to support effective and efficient aerial mustering solutions.

MARIE ELLUL

DR PHILLIP ZADA

ROB KELLY

Marie is the CEO of ART Lab Solutions, with a decade of networks built across beef and dairy stakeholders.

Dr Zada is the founder of Stoktake, with a PhD in Innovation and over 18 years experience working and leading projects.

Rob grew up on his family’s livestock property in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. He has an Ag Science degree, and has spent over a decade working in grain trading and risk and supply chain management.

ART Lab Solutions

Product ART Lab Solutions is a noninvasive pregnancy detection device in cattle, that precisely and wirelessly measures a fetal heart rate in 10 seconds at 30 days post fertility and is easy to use. The technology, the size of a wallet, is placed externally on the flank of a dairy cow to detect a fetal heart rate. It is sensitive enough to depict the fetal versus the mothers’ heart rate, drowning out all other noise. This technology will shrink the time gap between breeders making economic business decisions (e.g. sell herd stock, resynchronise empty cows, where to allocate high quality pasture etc.).

Stoktake

Product Stoktake aims to provide a low-cost, integrated, high-accuracy assurance, traceability, and verification platform, enabling the entire supply chain with a new standard for a connected livestock ecosystem. Using our patent-pending facial recognition, we have achieved a 99.65% accuracy for individual cattle, which will allow the producer to safely and securely manage livestock records digitally and, in the cloud, in a connected manner. Livestock can be identified throughout its life using a single image, which means everything from transfers, sale, insurance, and slaughter can be matched with digital records of the animal.

Agora Livestock

Product Agora Livestock is a digital stockbook for cattle buyers that captures critical purchase in a dashboard, giving their entire organisation a realtime source of truth for livestock purchases and sales. The platform includes key details (quantity, price, vendor, agent etc.), for the buyer and their colleagues (book-keepers, feedlot manager etc.). It also gives cattle buyers access to over 9,000 users of the free Agora Livestock Markets app and allows them to show when they are in the market and the type of cattle they want to buy - increasing their market access.

BLUE HILL PR GREAT DEBATE

THE STAR MAKER STORY

THE WOLFE BROTHERS

8 May | From 6.00pm

8 May | 8.00pm-9.30pm

9 May | 8.30pm-10.00pm

Gear up for a battle of wit and wisdom at the Blue Hill PR Great Debate.

What do the names Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, Travis Collins, James Blundell, Beccy Cole, Gina Jefferys, Kirsty Lee Akers, Kaylee Bell and Brad Cox all have in common?

They first found fame on Australia’s Got Talent, and after placing second they were signed to a management company, followed by a recording contract and then were hired by Lee Kernaghan to open all of his shows and also to play in his band, a working relationship that lasted 10 years.

ERGON NETWORK STAGE

A popular event on the Beef Australia calendar, the Blue Hill PR Great Debate facilitated by Geoff Maynard will see a panel of our industry’s finest fight it out to see who will reign supreme in the quest to debate an ageold topic: Australian Sport: It’s not just cricket. With laughter, camaraderie, and intellectual sparring on the menu, the Blue Hill PR Great Debate will once again promise an evening of entertainment and enlightenment like no other. Whether you’re a past debate team captain or a curious observer, witness the clash of minds, and the art of persuasion, all served up with a side of hearty banter.

ERGON NETWORK STAGE

Apart from being some of the most important country music artists in Australia, they all had their country music careers significantly boosted by winning the Star Maker. At Beef2024 come reflect on the years of Australia’s best known and most successful talent quests for young Australian country music singers. Hosted by the coolest couple in country, the 2007 Star Maker winner and multi– Golden Guitar Songstress Kirsty Lee Akers will join her husband Jesse Anderson, both who’ve gained fans across the country with their much-loved appearance on Channel 9’s The Block.

ERGON NETWORK STAGE

After what the brothers describe as the best possible apprenticeship any band could have and learning so much from Lee, The Wolfe Brothers have achieved over their career four #1 and two #2 ARIA Country Albums that have delivered 19 #1 singles on the National Country Music Chart. With nine Golden Guitars under their belt and 4 ARIA nominations they are now Australia’s most awarded country rock duo in history.

GRAEME ACTON BEEF CONNECTIONS Beef Australia’s Graeme Acton Beef Connections Program is a mentoring program designed to grow future leaders in the Australian beef industry. As one of Queensland’s leading beef industry figures, the late Graeme Acton was renowned for supporting young people entering the agriculture sector and generously gave his time and extensive knowledge to support their careers. Graeme also donated his time and expertise to Beef Australia as a board member and Chairman. The program was an idea originally developed by the Beef2015 NextGen Committee, and the Beef Australia board named the program in Graeme’s honour to recognise the contributions he made to the agricultural industry and its younger generations. With a national alumni of over 20 leaders contributing to industry change and advancement, the program provides a unique mentoring experience for each participant that supports the link between leadership theory and practice. It is also designed to support participant knowledge development and skill application throughout the program, including pairing future leaders with mentors to complete a project designed to enhance Australia’s beef industry. Applications will open in early 2026 for the 2026/2027 Program. Follow Beef Australia on our social channels (@beefaustralia) to be one of the first to find out and stay up-to-date on Beef2027 news.
