The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) works with governments and businesses to reduce the environmental impact of packaging in Australia.
APCO is the peak industry body for the packaging sector. It administers the Australian Packaging Covenant. The Covenant is the industry-led component of the current co-regulatory arrangement.

FSC stands for ‘Forest Stewardship Council’. It’s an organisation that works to promote the practice of sustainable forestry.
FSC papers are the best option with social & environmental focus in the current marketplace. FSC paper use can be positively marketed on a bag.
PCW derives from household paper and cardboard waste. It is made from natural ingredients such as wood pulp.
Brown Kraft can be made from recycled material, or 100% virgin paper pulp, (the stuff direct from trees). Brown Kraft papers have generally been treated with fewer chemicals and are arguably more environmentally-friendly, regardless of whether they’re composed of recycled or virgin pulp.

PCW Plastics include plastic particles that have been recycled, making the bags sustainable.

Recycling HDPE has many benefits. It is more cost effective to produce a product from recycled HDPE than it is to manufacture ‘virgin’ plastic.
EPI is the developer, licensor and distributor of Totally Degradable Plastic Additives (TDPA®). EPI will degrade over time.
Cornstarch plastics are also referred to as biocompostable because they are a step beyond just biodegradable. For a plastic to be considered biocompostable, it must meet a certain criteria.

WATER BASED INK
Water based ink is any ink which uses water as a solvent base to carry the pigment instead of other harmful chemicals that hurt the environment and are not easily recycled.
WATER BASED GLUE
Water based adhesives are totally non-toxic and environmentally-friendly and bio-degradable.
HANDLE OPTIONS
Recycled paper twist handles, flat recycled paper handles, cotton rope handles and die-cut handles are all great eco friendly and sustainable options. All options use recycled or reusable materials that don’t harm the environment.
