Top 3 Christmas Foods (as voted for by Beech Lodge Pupils)

Hope has 2 very different passions– Pokémon and the band, KISS! Both of these subjects often appear in her artworks.
We had a chat with Hope to find out some more….
So, how many plushies have you got?
Too many to count, and there might be more at Christmas. My first one was a Pikachu.
Which Pokémon would you be?
I would be Mew Two. However he is quite grumpy– I would make him happy and fun like me!
Kiss have been around for a long time (since 1973).
How did you hear about them?
We listen to Planet Rock radio on the way to school and I first heard their music there.
All the band members have a distinct character which is your favourite?
Star Child AKA Paul
Stanley. He is the main person and one of the originals. Demon (Gene Simmons) is the second best.
Do you like seeing bands live?
Have you ever seen them in concert?
Yes– it was the best night– really fun! They are about 75 years old but are really good at playing and wearing high heels!
I love it. I am going to see The Darkness (who sang “I Believe in a Thing Called Love”) next year and I can’t wait!
Those who know Luca will know that he has a passion for theme parks and even has his own YouTube channel on the subject. We had the opportunity to sit down with him and find out
Which Theme Park would you most like to visit?
Motiongate in Dubai. They have great rides based on movies.
First Theme Park Visit?
Legoland– I wasn’t even 1 year old!
Favourite Theme Park and ride?
TH13TEEN at the brilliant Alton Towers
Have you been to any Christmas events this year?
Yes– Legoland@Christmas and A Winter’s Tail at Chessington. Both made a real effort to make it look Christmassy. Chessington was the best. They had the amazing idea of having a silent disco whilst you were queueing. There was also a pantomime and the best Santa.

Top 10 Christmas Songs
Kusama Class went to see Pinocchio recently and put their heads together to discuss what they had seen and wrote this review for us:
Pinocchio – The greatest kids’ show in Maidenhead!
What a funny and amazing show! This is the story of a wooden boy, who was made by a carpenter. He travels through many obstacles to find the blue fairy to fulfil his dream to be a real boy.
The show is performed in a small, slightly echoey, theater called Norden Farm. Lots of schools attended, including Beech Lodge (Kusama Class Dream-Team). The actors did a great performance and really brought the show to life. The lighting was really good because you could see everything and see what the actors were doing. It helped to create drama because the lights mirrored what they said was happening. The staging was exciting! They used jumping, running and even acrobatics. The actors used the props and staging to their advantage and could improvise when they made a mistake which was really clever. Interestingly, they used the tables to create different settings by moving them around. They could perform with the tables, even turning them upside down to make them a boat.
Overall, we give this performance a solid 9/10!

Wicked Film Review– spoilers ahead!
Last weekend, Hope and Luca went to the most widely anticipated cinematic opening of the year – Wicked! Hope had seen the stage version of the show but Luca had not so we were intrigued to find out what they thought. Would ‘something just take them over’ or ‘did they not give a twig what anyone thought?’… Read on dear readers.
H: I way preferred the film! It was so much better than the stage show. It really grabbed my attention.
L: I have never seen the stage show and want to see it even more now!
H: You could clearly see the intense moments and the music sounded even better! I liked the fact I could see the Magical Book clearly.
L: I liked the element of ‘difference’ in the show. Just because she is green and different she is seen as ‘bad’.
H: I became quite emotional towards the end for the characters that were left alone. It’s very moving.
H: The vocals were amazing – Defying Gravity was my favourite. Although I missed the cape that they use in the stage show that would have looked good in the film.
H: The only thing that annoyed me was that I want to see part II right now! I want more – now!
We ended by asking Hope and Luca how they felt about that most controversial question – to sing or not sing in the cinema?? No contest from Hope:
I always sing if it is a good song!
