The approaching end of 2022 is a time to reflect on a challenging year for many countries across Europe, including the United Kingdom.

As we continued our recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, we have felt the economic impact of Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine which has placed considerable strains on European economies. Our country has also had to come to terms with the loss of our longest serving monarch, mourning her loss but thankful for the years of dedicated service to our nation.

We now look forward to the coronation of our new King as the country is steered by a new Prime Minister and the fi rst of Indian heritage.

Throughout the year, I have endeavoured to meet with people across the sixty or so towns and villages I represent, to listen to concerns, debate ideas and get invaluable insights that help me speak up for local interests in Parliament.

I hope it’s no secret, but I absolutely thrive on face to face meetings with constituents. These regular “surgeries” are a unique characteristic of the UK Parliamentary tradition. These are advertised on social media at www. .com/ RichardFullerBedfordshire and on my website at

In addition to surgeries, I also have held several town hall style meetings so I can update people on my work in Parliament and really talk through local issues such as GP waiting times, school places, changes in our local environment. We discuss national issues too – openly and good naturedly even where we disagree strongly. Such an antidote to the hostility of social media. These town hall meetings are also advertised on my website and are open to anyone to come along without booking.

As another busy year winds down, I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
