“My artistic vision tends to dive deep into the details of the imagery I’m creating. When I’m contemplating the creation and display of fine art exhibitions, I take into account how an image will benefit from a specific accentuation or pop that certain types of print mediums provide. Looking to print this particular image from my Beatific/Caustic series, I explored various print surfaces that would highlight the iridescent glimmer and high shine feel I’m portraying in the shot. During the shoot for my Beatific/Caustic series, I filled a pool with an ample amount of glitter, fish from the local market, and the lead singer of Huff This. With the underlying thread of Beatific/Caustic illuminating how we can glamorously drown ourselves in toxicity as we manage to do the same for all of that which we might care about, I didn’t want to print this image on paper that was comprised of plastics and toxic chemicals from OBA’s and resin coatings. Afterall, all that glitters is not gold...or silver, for that matter. Yet, I still wanted all of the shiny, sparkly elements to pop. Working with Hannemühle, I came across a new print surface that elicits this bold, shimmering quality brilliantly. Pairing Beatific/Caustic with Hannemühle’s new Photo Rag® Metallic paper, I was able to provide high-quality imagery to the world, without compromising the story of the image.”
