Brewpoint Brewery Branding A live project for the new Wells brewery in Bedford, due to be opened in June 2020. My identity was chosen to represent the new brewing and entertainment destination. The mark uses a combination of elements that tell the story of Wells. The five arrows symbolise five generations of brewing in the Wells family, and the star was inspired by Wells’ original starfish logo from the 19th century.
Le Viaduc des Arts Rebrand A 19th century railway bridge in Paris rejuvenated into archways containing shops and galleries, Le Viaduc des Arts needed a modern mark that reflected the artistry and craft of the businesses housed within. Visitors are given a pack of cards categorising each business as a souvenir.
Refabric8 : A Solution to Fast Fashion I created a new brand of upcycled clothing and differentiated it from other recycling initiatives by identifying the stories behind the clothes. Each ‘new’ garment comes with its own ‘logbook,’ a tag which records previous ownership, giving it a unique personality. New garment owners have the opportunity to give secondhand clothing a second life, and write the next chapter of its story. Cassini Design for the Bedford College student handbook using a visual metaphor to represent guidance.
Cassini Front cover and editorial spreads for an article based on NASA’s Cassini spacecraft and its discoveries.
The First World War created perfect conditions for poppies to flourish in the fields of Flanders. Continual bombardment disturbed the soil and brought the seeds to the surface where they were fertilized by nitrogen from the explosives and lime from the shattered rubble of buildings and most poignantly, the blood and the bones of millions of men and horses killed in action.

Tackling the worldwide epidemic of diabetes requires a change in the way we use high street cafés. Inspired by the metabolic state of ketosis and 1920s science, ‘Keato’ is the first café to offer only low-carb food options alongside a spa-like wellness service, making café culture truly ‘carb conscious’. Front of package labelling and NFC makes carb counting easy for people with diabetes and others who want to lower their blood sugar levels. Membership offers access to vital information, tools and dietitian support.

Penguin Adult Fiction Cover
‘Evocative, entertaining, sexy and funny; but then Murakami is one of the best writers around’ Time Out ‘Such is the exquisite, gossamer construction of Murakami’s writing that everything he chooses to describe trembles with symbolic possibility’ Guardian ‘This book is undeniably hip, full of student uprisings, free love, booze and 1960s’ pop, it’s also genuinely emotionally engaging, and describes the highs of adolescence as well as the lows’ Independent on Sunday ‘A heart-stoppingly moving story . . . Murakami is, without a doubt, one of the world’s finest novelists’ Herald
MURAK AMI
HARUKI MURAKAMI
Editorial piece about camouflage artist Liu Bolin. This layout achieves a Zen-like quality through the use of a subtle calligraphy brush stroke in the background, which leads the eye to the artist’s face and connects the page elements, while the lower paint stroke denotes his craft.
When he hears her favourite Beatles song, Toru Watanabe recalls his first love Naoko, the girlfriend of his best friend Kizuki. Immediately he is transported back almost twenty years to his student days in Tokyo, adrift in a world of uneasy friendships, casual sex, passion, loss and desire – to a time when an impetuous young woman called Midori marched into his life and he had to choose between the future and the past.
NORWEGIAN WOOD
Liu Bolin, Invisible Man
Design a cover for the coming of age novel ‘Norwegian Wood’ by Haruki Murakami. Front cover: An abstract eye, tear and gentle reference to a noose is used to capture a story of grief and suicide. The colours represent a Japanese setting and the emotional turmoil of the characters. Back cover: A line of snow-capped hills, where a young girl hangs herself, and symbolic hints of her body refer to an illusion her lover experiences while gazing at cherry blossom. Murakami uses cicada exoskeletons to symbolise his message; death exists as part of life.
