Fashion & Textiles (Level 3)

Duration and Entry Requirements: Duration: 2 years

• 4 GCSEs grades 9–4 ideally including English and maths OR • Art & Design at Level 2

What will I study?

This study programme will expose you to various design aspects, including surface pattern for fashion and interiors, fashion visualisation and illustration, and sculptural textiles/fashion. You will also have the opportunity to learn silk screen printing, machine and hand embroidery, paper making, fabric manipulation techniques, draping, transfer printing, computer aided design, felt making, and drawing. The emphasis will be on experimentation with materials and ideas generation for fashion, textile, interior and illustration outcomes.

What qualifications will I gain?

• Art & Design UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma • English and maths qualifications if required • Short course in Art & Design practice if required.

Fine Art (Level 3)

What will I study?

This study programme will give you the flexibility to work with a range of materials, techniques and processes, often dipping into other subject areas, such as digital media and video. The core programme offers painting, sculpture, printing, experimental photography and a range of open ended projects designed to challenge your ability to think and work creatively.

What qualifications will I gain?

• Art & Design UAL Level 2 Diploma • English and maths qualifications if required • Short course in Art & Design related practice if required.

Graphic Design (Level 3)

What will I study?

This study programme will give you a strong insight into illustration, typography, advertising, layout design, packaging and drawing using a variety of media and techniques including digital photography. You will also learn how to use the Adobe Creative Suite software: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and Adobe After Effects for graphic animation.

What qualifications will I gain?

Photography (Level 3)

What will I study?

This study programme gives you the opportunity to explore different lens-based media and learn about film-based and digital techniques, including darkroom techniques and image manipulation. You will develop personal projects that explore themes and ideas connected with the potential of photography to record, document, narrate and challenge. You will learn how to select photographic equipment and technologies that are appropriate and fit for purpose.

Foundation Diploma (Level 3)

Duration and Entry Requirements: Duration: 1 year

• Minimum of one A-Level in a design-related subject.

What will I study?

This study programme will enable you to explore and experiment with a wide range of concepts, ideas and materials, in addition to giving you the opportunity to focus on your chosen specialist area and build up your portfolio of work. This programme is highly recommended if you have completed A-Levels (or a Level 3 equivalent qualification) and want to progress on to a degree-level course in an art & design subject at university or college.

What qualifications will I gain?

• Art & Design BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma.

I’ve enjoyed all of the opportunities that being at College has given me - from access to new equipment, such as oil painting, plaster and screen printing, to a work experience placement at the Tate Modern in London with contemporary artist, Quilla Constance.

Business Level 3 Previous School: Manor School Sports College

As part of my College work placement I work once a week at Portfolio Events, which is a catering company. I can apply everything I learn in College to my work here, including finance when I work on spreadsheets and filing, and marketing when I look at how they promote themselves through awards and testimonials.
