I have continued the same tradition of new year intention setting for a long time. It has served me well and has been a great reflection point at the end of each year. It has far less to do with metrics and everything to do with living well.

As entrepreneurs or career professionals, we often gauge the success of a year on how much money we have made and the growth we have acquired. This practice will shift you into collecting memories and breathtaking moments which to me is the epitome of success, wealth and fulfillment.

I have created for you 24 lines to list the desires, memories and moments you would like to experience this year. I highly recommend you take time to consider, write and place this somewhere so that you remind yourself of the kind of year you are committed to having.

I love using the year as my starting point.

So this year, I am listing 24 memories and intentional moments I would like to create and experience. This is what holds me to my vision if I start to wobble or anchor myself when I feel unnecessary urgency.

THIS YEAR, I HAVE BIG EXPERIENCES I AM GOING TO SAVOR AND ENJOY. I HAVE THINGS LIKE… 1. A Pinterest worthy picnic 2. Sip a bottle of crisp white wine on a beach during a sunset 3. Buy gorgeous lingerie to wear daily 4. Have a monthly spa day in solitude 5. Take my husband and oldest daughter to an F1 race 6. Have quarterly luxury beauty treatments 7. Go to dinner with my husband every month and have lots of flirt 8. Build the back of our house into a oasis to finish our total renovation You can see it’s about collecting memories and living the life of my dreams versus wrapping my happiness and fulfillment around a dollar amount or metric.

Don’t get me wrong, I have big plans and business strategy in place to support all these experiences I desire to gather. It’s just not the only goal where I forget to live well and in the present with gratitude and intentionality.

I have big audacious goals for 2024 I spent last year refining and building behind the scenes. So much of it was unseen but myself and my team spent a tremendous amount of time creating customer experiences, aligning offers, researching the market, upgrading the brand and preparing for the exponential growth that is about to happen.

I asked for more, so I must be prepared for more.

Last year provided patience and trust.

The business grew and yet I stripped many offers. The profits grew yet I maintained my prices and hired a bigger team. My audience expanded without attachment to outcomes or any push energy. I saw the strength of my company and the fruits of my labor over 2023.

This is the year it comes to life. Where you see and experience all that we have done for you and for us. It will be visible and also felt.

There will be no doubt that Becoming Iconic is a brand that will leave an indelible mark upon the world. I am prepared. I am available.

I am unwavering in my knowing. I believe you will find trust and comfort in what this holds for you because it was built for you.

As I open up my most expansive year to date, I understand the assignment. I realize that every pillar of my life has to be refined and held at a new standard as I commit to supporting as many six figure entrepreneurs as I can to break the glass ceiling and become millionaires. Not for the money but for the impact and who they will become by accomplishing that.

This is my obsession.

I had to do a lot of growth personally to make this declaration. It required me to get really comfortable with wealth and money. To identify what didn’t align and what felt integral. To become financially literate and to know numbers like I never had before. I hired a CFO, I studied wealth integrity, I unfollowed many money marketers and I revisited my journey with a clear mind and spirit.

You see, I spent eight years of my entrepreneurial journey feeling like I was dying on the treadmill to break into the millionaire status. I did what I was being taught, I was obsessively consistent and yet I couldn’t seem to break the $30k a month ceiling. I was filled with fatigue, resentment and envy. I couldn't understand why it wasn’t happening for me. I was doing all the things I was supposed to do. I had belief in myself. I worked on my leadership. It was beyond frustrating.

I remember the day when I realized I had started to excuse myself through gratitude. I started using gratitude to keep myself comfortable and to cushion the ache for more. It sounded like “I should be grateful for what I have” and “I make more than some people do in a year so I should be over the moon with thanks”. It was a sneaky way to excuse my desire for more. Accepted by others and a safe way to stay where I was. I love gratitude and I teach obsessive gratitude but I do believe it has to be from a clean, pure place. In this circumstance it wasn’t. It became my crutch for staying where I was. It was seductive and sexy and could easily pass as a great outlook and characteristic.

Have you ever considered this? Does this reveal a perspective on how you too may be using gratitude to excuse yourself from more? It’s a slight shift that moves you out of pure gratitude into toxic gratitude. Pay attention.

There were key ingredients and shifts that I made to shatter that ceiling once and for all. It had little to do with sweat equity and more to do with trust, support and personal responsibility. I had the work ethic but it needed to be met with the energetics and strategy of a “millionaire entrepreneur” not a “struggling multi six figure” one.

I ask you to look at how you are justifying your current income. I ask if you are ready to take on this year and make it your million dollar era. It’s so close. It’s not as “hard” as you think it has to be. It’s about making moves, trusting and aligning yourself with who you are meant to be.

This is my “Making Millionaires Era” and I cannot wait to celebrate all who decide to come along and make it their “Million Dollar Era”. I see the ripple effect it will offer the world. The lives that will be changed as a result. The contribution made to others to get there. The care and support offered to communities with the income to freely do so.

This has far less to do with the number and everything to do with what it creates for you, your family, your team, your blessed clients and all those who are watching. This is the time to realize that it was always meant to be!

The next time you catch yourself resting and relying on gratitude because you feel that more abundance is either asking too much or you’re fearful of what it will ask of you, pause to consider. This shift in awareness was what fuelled my fire into making decisions that supported my desire instead of letting it smolder into ashes of dreams and potential.

MASTERING THE MIDLIFE SHIFT: STRATEGIES FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS TO NAVIGATE PERIMENOPAUSE WRITTEN BY JENN PIKE MEDICAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST AND FUNCTIONALLY INTEGRATIVE DIAGNOSTIC NUTRITIONIST

Creating, building and running a business you love is one of the most exciting and rewarding things you can do in life, but when your health begins to suffer in the process, what once felt invigorating, impactful and fun can turn to draining, depleting and difficult quite quickly.

So many women I work with coaching and mentoring them in both their personal health and business growth, share that once they hit their late 30’s and into their 40’s everything shifted.

Physically, mentally and emotionally their bodies suddenly felt like a frustrating mystery to solve vs a vehicle for joy, creativity and living!

Feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, scattered thoughts, lack of focus and clarity invaded their minds while physically they were experiencing heart palpitations, poor sleep, brain fog, headaches, weight gain, loss of muscle and difficulty building new muscle, inflammation, joint pain, stiffness and aches, digestive issues, worsening PMS and in some cases PMDD, painful heavy periods, clotting, irregular periods, missing periods for months at a time, acne, hair loss, dry skin, vaginal dryness, low libido, and pelvic floor changes.

All very common symptoms of Perimenopause.

Perimenopause is the phase of time in our lives as women when the signalling to our follicles and ovaries will start slowing down, ovulation will happen less often and hormones like estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA will begin to decline leading to less regular and predictable periods before our bleeds stop completely. Full menopause is once you haven’t had a natural bleed for 12 consecutive months, but it’s often the time leading into full Menopause that impacts women the most as Perimenopause is roughly an 8-12 year journey for women.

What if your frustration and stagnation in your business wasn’t based solely on the market or the economy? What if your own personal health, well being and what you are going through was part of the change too?

“There was an Oxford study recently that surveyed women going through Perimenopause and Menopause and the impact of their symptoms. The results were what we hear about in our clinic daily and affected these entrepreneurs and employees greater than 50% of the time while at work were fatigue (54%), difficulty sleeping (47%), poor concentration (44%) and poor memory (40%). Work performance was impacted for 65% of respondents and 18% had taken sick leave because they could no longer cope.”

Stack this big shift in our bodies with mounting changes and shifts in our lives and businesses that we are running and it can feel all too much for many women.

Perimenopause is not a disease and you are not going crazy, but you can most definitely feel like it sometimes.

Raising your family, supporting the needs of your children, nurturing your romantic relationship, possibly supporting ageing parents and family members, trying to maintain a social life with friends and carve out just enough time for yourself to workout, read, meditate, journal or simple breathe and BE alone so that you can unwind and process.

We are all going to go through this phase of life but can definitely do it in a more supportive and protective way then we’ve been taught.

It. Is. A. Lot. So much so that as an entrepreneur you might feel yourself thinking, “I just want to quit”, “I’m too tired and I just don’t care enough anymore”, “it’s not worth it, I’m done”, “what’s the point? No one is listening, responding or buying anymore”, or the ever famous, “I just want to burn it all down and start over”.

So, what can you do to get in front of these shifts in your body and take care of yourself in a more nourishing way?

Eating like this will help to keep your blood sugar stable which will keep YOU stable!

Better energy, focus, concentration, less cravings, more stable body weight and composition, easier time building muscle and maintaining it, less inflammation overall and stress on your adrenals, thyroid and nervous system. Keeping your blood sugar in check and avoiding highs and lows throughout your day is an absolute game changer to the health of your body and your business as a whole!

I am sharing some of my favourite tips to support yourself inside and out below: Eat more whole foods focused on protein, fat, healthy carbohydrates and fiber.

I love for women to focus on a 40/30/30 split in the beginning with 40% of your daily calories coming from fibre and antioxidant rich carbs like root vegetables, leafy greens, cruciferous veggies, fruit, beans and if tolerated gluten free grains. 30% from healthy protein sources like wild fish, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, bison, eggs, organic tofu or edamame and good quality protein powders for healthy fast food on the go, and rounding your diet and plate out with 30% antiinflammatory fats like avocado and avocado oil, olives and olive oil, coconut oil, organic butter, ghee, raw cheese, grass-fed yogurt, nuts and seeds if tolerated, as well as the supportive fat in many of your animal based protein options above

Hydrating with filtered water, minerals and electrolytes is a simple way to support your adrenals, energy and cognitive focus. I aim for 3 litres daily with added LMNT electrolytes in my water or something simple such as lemon, cold brew herbal tea or ⅛ Redmonds Realsalt to get my minerals in.

Optimize rest and sleep, aiming for 7-8 hours of sleep each night and trying to turn the light switch and your brain off by no later than 10pm.

Sleep in a cool, dark room, eliminate devices and create a calming routine for yourself like a nurturing skincare and bathroom routine, reading a few pages of a book you love, breathwork or meditation. I also LOVE to keep a journal by my bedside and do a brain dump of any and all noise taking up space in my body of what I need to get done.

I sleep much better when I do this and wake feeling like I have a plan.

Expose your eyes to natural light as soon as you can in the morning to help with your Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) and adrenal health.

Move your body with intention.

Perimenopause is THE time if you haven’t already to pick up some weights and start lifting. Your nutrition and everything else above is so important but you can’t just eat for muscle, you also must train for muscle.

Start with 3x weekly 25-30 minutes of strength training along with the same length walks outside in the fresh air and maybe unroll a yoga mat once a week and you will feel like a brand new human. Keep it simple and train from home so that you save time and energy commuting. You could finish your workout and be back to work, time with your family or eating a great meal before you’d even get to where you’re going to train.

Stay on top of yearly physicals with your Dr and add a Functionally Integrative Practitioner to your team who can run comprehensive blood work, not basic blood work but FULL, complete blood labs looking at everything from your CBC, to your liver health, glucose and insulin, triglycerides, all 5 thyroid markers, serum hormones and more.

I also recommend stool testing for any GI and skin issues and a DUTCH complete or DUTCH plus test for hormones, adrenal info and detox pathways information as well as organic acids and neurotransmitters. Mineral testing may also be extremely helpful.

Create boundaries in your life both energetically and literally in your calendar and time management. Perimenopause is no time to dance around the thing you no longer want to do or in the way you used to do it in business or life.

You don’t have the patience, and your BS metre is way too freaking short to test yourself…it’s not a matter of if you will snap, it’s when. Make some bold decisions about your ideal schedule, clients you want to work with, the money you desire to receive and the impact you’re here to create in the world.

How to decrease inflammation and symptoms during perimenopause: Be mindful of your caffeine intake Avoid sugary lattes, juices and sweetened drinks Have an honest look at your wine and alcohol consumption which can impact your sleep, elevate your body temperature, increase breast tenderness, mood swings, anxiety, weight gain, headaches and brain fog as well as add extra stress to your gut health, liver and detoxification pathways.

Don’t abuse intermittent fasting. Most women I work with in our clinic have been reducing their eating windows, along with too few calories and nutrients for far too long and it’s beginning to worsen their Perimenopause symptoms especially hair loss, difficulty building muscle, heart palpitations, thyroid issues and poor sleep.

Avoid sugary, processed foods and meals Quit smoking and vaping Avoid long periods of sitting and no movement, I started using an electric standing desk years ago and love being able to shift from sitting to standing through the day.

Q: WHAT DREW YOU INTO BECOMING AN INFLUENCER? It wasn’t really me, actually. My husband suggested I start a blog back in 2014. He was travelling a lot for work and we had just moved into a new house in a new development.

Since the neighbourhood was so new, there were no stores, not too many neighbours - not too much to do at all. I was a bit lonely while he was away on a three-month mission, and he felt that blogging would be a good outlet to show off my creativity. I was always out doing fun things like attending fashion shows and events, so he said: “Why not share those experiences with the world?”

The rest is history!

Q: WHAT HAVE BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECTS OF YOUR CAREER AS AN INFLUENCER?

Definitely connecting with likeminded people. I absolutely love my online community. They are so supportive and friendly. It also gave me access to a group of women around the world that I learn from and am inspired by every day.

Q: DID YOU EVER FEEL LIKE YOU WERE “TOO LATE” IN LIFE TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL ONLINE AS A MID AGE WOMAN? No. I wasn’t even thinking about my age when I started online. I created my blog because I was interested in skincare and beauty. I treated it a bit like a journal too, so it was a great outlet for me to get things off my mind, share my thoughts and feelings, and connect with a broader group of people outside of my city.

I didn’t even know when I started that this could be a successful business venture. The spoils are a great perk though!!

Q: WHAT WERE THE BIGGEST LIMITING BELIEFS YOU HAD TO OVERCOME TO BECOME SO SUCCESSFUL? One limiting belief I had was just overarching imposter syndrome. “I can’t do that.”, “Who do I think I am going to New York Fashion Week?”, “These fancy clothes aren’t for someone like you!”

I persevered though and this helped to boost my confidence and show me that I am worth it. I also let go of a lot of beliefs like: “Young people don’t want to listen to me.” I love being called a big sister by so many of my supporters online. That fills my heart.

Believe in yourself…block out the noise. Focus on your passion!

Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BECOME AN INFLUENCER? Just get started! No - you don’t need a fancy camera. No - you don’t need fancy designer clothes and accessories. Just get started. Your community is waiting!

And never engage with online trolls. LOL.

Q:WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A WOMAN WHO FEELS LIKE IT’S “TOO LATE” FOR HER TO LIVE HER DREAM LIFE? I would tell her that it absolutely is NOT too late, that if I can do it, so can she. I would also reinforce that we need more mature women content creators online! We are the ones who can really use those retinols, those skincare products that are geared towards us but marketed to women 15-20 years our junior. WE HAVE THE WISDOM! We also have the buying power that most young people haven’t achieved yet, so there is an entire community out there waiting to hear from us!

Q: WHAT’S THE GREATEST MOMENT OR STORY YOU HAVE HAD IN YOUR CAREER?

Winning an award and being nominated for awards yearly for my work feels great. When I was named a United Way Person 2 Know three years in a row was such a great achievement for me.

And working with top brands as well is such an achievement. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would partner with the likes of BMW, Tiffany & Co., Lancôme, tourism boards around the world, jetting off to NYFW, etc.

Being recognized around the world too is WILD. Having someone come up to you in the middle of Trafalgar Square in London or wave to you from a cliff in Cayman Islands because they know who you are? INSANE!
