OurCommunicationsIntern,AveryPatterson,wasa memberoftheBeautifulcommunityin2019-2020,and herworkwasfeaturedinourPen,Lens&SoulMET exhibition.Thisistrulyafull-circlemomentforAvery. Afterparticipatinginourprogramsasamiddleschool student,shetakesonthisinternshipasacollege sophomore.Sheshares“thatitissuchanexciting opportunitytoreturnbacktoTBP,aplacewithsuch amazingandempoweringblackwomen.Iamso gratefulIgettorediscovermyselfasanartistthrough thisinternship.”Avery’sinternshipexemplifiesTBP’s commitmenttoprovidinglong-termsupporttoartists inthecommunity.
OurMediaIntern,TrinityBuckner,hasarichand evolvinghistorywithTheBeautifulProject.Shefirst joinedtheorganizationasamemberofthe2021Arts &ActivismYouthApprenticeshipProgram.Since then,shehassteadilypursuedhercreativegoals, engaginginpersonalbrandingworkwithTBP’s ProgramDirectorandcreativephotographer MadylinNixon-Taplet,andleadingseveral photographicprojectsin2022.In2024,she deepenedherartisticpracticebyjoiningtheYouth LeadershipCouncilcohort.Now,Trinityhasreturned toTBPasamediaintern,gaininghands-on experienceindigitalpublishingandnonprofit operations.Trinitysays,“TherelationshipsIhave formedwithinthisorganizationandthecreative confidenceIhavegainedarethingsIwillalways carrywithmeasIcontinuetodevelopasaperson, andasanartist.”
