Editor’s Note IN LIGHT OF THE VERY REAL AND CHALLENGING CIRCUMSTANCES WE ARE ALL FACING, I HOPE TO BRING YOU SOME WORDS OF HOPE, COMFORT AND PEACE. This magazine was born out of the hope that we can uplift each other in a disoriented world—as we all navigate COVID-19 and the reaching effects it has on our lives right now. Candidly, my own little family has faced unrelated, but very similar, life-altering situations twice before (with the health of our daughter and my own health). We understand exactly what it feels like to have life suddenly “canceled.” We know what it feels like to battle fear and face serious uncertainties. Being isolated in my own home, well, it not new to us as we’ve gone through this twice before. First, eight years ago when my daughter fought the rare disease of FPIES (being allergic to everything) and then again, last year, when I battled Mast Cell Activation Disorder—when I was too sick to leave my bedroom. It was in these two trying seasons that we learned the most beautiful attributes of God’s heart—the assurance of His love and rescue. So, it is our sincere prayer, that His love and rescue may be realized at a global level during this very tumultous time. I hope this magazine and our incredible contributors bring you light and joy during this unstable time, as well as give you hope that life is still good. In peace,

- Sarah Martin, Founder of Beautiful Chaos

ABOUT EUREKA, MY COZY CORNER

ABOUT BECKY, CLEAN MAMA Becky created her cleaning routine years ago out of necessity. She was sick of cleaning all weekend long and living with the crazy during the week. Once she started using a simple routine she realized that just a little bit every day was helping me keep things clean most of the time. Then came three kids, different work schedules, traveling for her job, running a business…..and guess what? It still worked. When she started sharing her cleaning routine online, it caught on quickly because it works in your homes too! She loves sharing her routine, homekeeping tips, and ideas for keeping your home cozy and clean.

Eureka’s husband and family of four live in Texas, after moving there from Cal. in 2016. For years she has worked as a Medical Coder and done interior designing for clients on the side. It wasn’t anything she went to school for, so all of her clients came from how she decorated her home or word of mouth. Now, she is back in school for a career change and has more time to dive into design. She started her IG account as a platform to express her style and ideas. She also enjoys learning from others and incorporating different styles into her decor; her decor is always evolving. When people see her work she wants the room to make them feel comfortable, at peace and relaxed as she believes that’s how a home should make you feel.

After searching high and low for cleaning products that are beautiful, natural, and actually work, in 2015 she decided to launch her own product line. Cleaning IS more enjoyable when you have products that really work, are easy on the eyes and better yet, safe for you and your family!

Bring Home Outside HOW TO DESIGN AN INVITING OUTD O OR LIVING SPACE BY ERICA RIGDON, STYLE & GRACE INTERIORS

Just think about this for a minute....every day I am given the opportunity to help people create their dream homes. I get the chance to pull all their visions and inspiration together and form a cohesive design that flows from room to room... you know how it feels to open up a puzzle for the first time? That’s what it’s like. You’re excited to see the end result, so you carefully place each piece together. After taking time to find a home for every piece, you stand back, look at it and

it feels pretty darn good. My job feels the same way! I am excited to put all the pieces together, but the best part is the end result, which is hopefully one happy family in their new home! For this feature I am so excited to share one of our ABSOLUTE favorite spots in my house. Ok, it is actually outside our home: our outdoor living spaces! Come with me as I walk you through each one... 9

The Whiskey Belle

Space for Catching Up

The Whiskey Belle is our outdoor kitchen. This was something that we really were excited about! We can cook outdoors most of the year and also host friends and just sit around and visit at our custom island. (pictured top left)

Next, there is a small space off the main deck area that is perfect for a small group (pictured top right). The sectional is a cozy spot for spending time with friends and having a glass of wine, and it is a nice extension of the deck!

Tips to Design a Cozy Outdoor Space Make it a Retreat

So now that you’ve had the tour, let's talk about how you can get this look! You don't have to have large spaces to get this same vibe. What is important is that you carefully plan out how your family would use an outdoor space and then run with it. The key is making it different than everyone else's outdoor space!

First, add layers of pillows and blankets for those cool nights. Create spaces for people to relax and feel at home in, or on vacation, for that matter! People always compliment our outdoor spaces and the one thing they say is that it feels like a retreat....now THAT is a compliment! 12

Now more than ever, people are retreating to their homes for comfort and entertainment, so why not make it the best it can be? Bring the inside out and make those outdoor spaces feel like an extension of your home! Keep the flow going and I promise you that you will want to spend a lot more time outside than you think. Our girls love to have their friends over to watch movies and/or make smores. My husband grills up food for them and we are just thrilled that these spaces bring friends together! With the current world we live in right now, we will welcome the day that we can once again have these outdoor spaces filled with people because that is exactly why we built them. To host friends and families. For now, we’ll enjoy it quietly with our little family of four (pictured on previous page on our dining deck). So there you have it! A little look inside, well outside, of our home! I hope this inspires you to make some small change to your outdoor entertaining areas. Make them a place you look forward to spending time in, and I promise you, you won't regret that decision one bit!

The key is making it different than everyone else’s outdoor space.

Let’s Talk plants

14

BY JEN BISWAS, PAISLEY + SPARROW I’m in the camp of “more is more” when it comes to plants and live by the 3 plants per room rule (at a minimum!). It can be hard to break into becoming a plant lady (or man) so here are some tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.

5 TI PS TO B E C OME

A Good Plant Parent 1. START EASY Don’t start out with a picky, high maintenance plant or you’ll lose your confidence. A plant like a pothos is a great place to start. It doesn’t require a lot of light, is ok if it’s neglected a bit and is super easy to propagate!

2. CLEAN YOUR AIR Many plants help clean the air and remove toxins. Try out a snake plant that removes 107 known air pollutants AND produces a ton of oxygen at night. These are great for bedrooms!

3. PICK BLOOMS Want a plant that blooms? Try a lipstick plant! These gorgeous plants produce beautiful red blooms that look like tubes of lipstick. From Top to Bottom: Umbrealla Plant, Snake Plant, Lipstick Plant 15

4. GO BIG OR GO HOME Don’t think you can maintain 3 plants in a room? Try just one large one! An umbrella plant (or monstera!) are great options for large plants that are easy to grow.

16

5. CREATE A PLANT WALL Lastly, if you run out of room on your shelves, get creative! Plant walls are super easy to create and give you so much more room for plants!

17

Growing and caring for plants takes time and practice. Start easy and master the more hardy plants before moving on to trickier ones. From Top to Bottom: Lipstick Plant, ZZ Plant, Maranta Plant

Creating a

Sanctuary A Q&A WITH EUREKA, MY COZY CORNER

Q: Can you tell us about the design of your living space & how you thoughtfully gathered goods to create what looks like a sanctuary? A: Our living room is the most asked about space. I knew I wanted to brighten up the room without using too much white because well, kids. So I went with an ultra pure white on the walls and a white sofa. I used black accents such as the console table to break up the white in between the sofa and wall. It also grounds the space. I like to take expensive styles and

find dupes when I can. The Boda sling chairs from Target are great replicas for the style I was looking for, so they were a good fit. I love adding vintage pieces for a little history and pillows for texture. All of these elements create a cozy relaxed vibe.

20

Q: What advice can you give us on recreating a peaceful space like this? A: The key to creating a peaceful space is allowing God to be in everything you do. I ask him to allow others to feel the peace he’s given us. At times I ask him to help me perfect a space when I’m stumped and he always does.

The key to creating a peaceful space is allowing God to be in everything you do. - EUREKA 21

Q: How do you and your family use this space? Is this where you connect with guests when they visit? A: Our living room is used for many events from movie night to semiformal gatherings. but the ones I hold dear to my heart are Thanksgiving and morning devotion with the kids.

22

Neutrals have my heart.

Q: I love the neutral & natural vibe you have lovingly pulled together in your living room. Is this the theme you’ve created in your entire home?

A: While neutrals have my heart, I did allow earth tones to creep into my master bedroom update. There you’ll find olive green and different shades of brown and black.

AN EXCERPT FROM DIVINELY DESIGNED: A BEAUTIFUL AND FUNCTI ONAL HOME

Their Story

>> A bevy of watery blues make this family room casual and welcoming. Plaid navy cubes from Target offer movable, kid-friendly seating while the Costa Lounge Chair from Serena & Lily is built for grown-ups. A playful mix of pillows in stripes and plaids from HomeGoods, Target, and custom-made by Farmhouse Revival (Delano, Minnesota) gather on the sofas. Annie Selke’s Jute Ticking Indigo Woven Rug repeats the coastal stripe theme. Wood pieces—Clint Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table from Pottery Barn and Livingston Solid Wood Square Cube by Kosas Home from Overstock.com— balance the more delicate accessories such as glass lamps from Target and the clients’ silver heirloom candlesticks on the mantel. Woven accessories such as the rug, chair, baskets, and a firewood holder from Painted Fox Home are textural counterpoints to the shiny silver and glass.

Often, our guys get stopped or waved at while driving our company vehicles. When folks spot our Beautiful Chaos logo, they make some noise! We love it! Our name is so special to us. Not only because we think it’s a fun, creative name that God gave us—and hysterically yet honestly describes the process of renovation—but also because the phrase “beautiful chaos” connects people in a way that is so relatable. We often hear people exclaim, “Chaos! I have that. I want it to be beautiful!” One Minnesota winter day, Jayme was in town filling his truck with gas when he turned to hear someone yelling just that. It was a gentleman at a nearby pump and a conversation between the two quickly started. I mean, Jayme really loves to talk (even in subzero temperatures) and never turns down a chance for new conversation. The man explained that he and his wife had recently moved to a lake home in our town and they had seen several of our signs and vehicles, and his wife was particularly drawn to our wreath logo. So, she looked us 25

>> These clients weren’t planning to move. In fact, they had recently completed a gorgeous remodel at their Minneapolis-St. Paul home. But this lakefront property and all the possibilities it held for time spent with their adult children and grandchildren were too good to pass up. 26

The Kitchen: Before vs. After >> The Magnolia Home Swedish Farm Kitchen Island is modeled after a well-worn piece from a traditional European farmhouse. It offers additional work space in the U-shaped kitchen, but can also move out of the way when needed. The Sunwashed Riviera Counter Stools from Serena & Lily, the dining area pendant, and the white oak band on the range hood echo the warm finish of the island. Lighting over the kitchen sink, the Lander Antique Bronze Sconce from Crate & Barrel, pairs with our signature Jet Mist granite countertops in a rich black finish.

27

>> Custombuilt cabinetry gives me the opportunity to incorporate special features like the upper cabinet that sits on the peninsula’s countertop and has custom-made sliding glass doors. The cabinet hardware echoes the lacquered burnished brass finish on the 15-inch Harmon Pendants from Restoration Hardware.Â

up online and saw that we did renovations and learned why she saw our signs in front of so many local houses. They were looking for a contractor and the man said that running into Jayme in person just might be fate! Jayme explained a little more about us and our company and the conversation lasted until they both started to do the Minnesota Winter Dance (we start bouncing up and down to keep everything vital from freezing—true thing!). They exchanged numbers and planned to talk more about the opportunity for us to help them. I remember Jayme returning home that night. He was really excited and explained that he felt a really cool connection with this guy and thought that it would be fun to get to know him and his wife. Also, they lived just a few miles away from us. A couple of weeks later, Jayme and I were sitting down with this couple at their dining room table, learning all about them, their story, and their hope to renovate this lake home they just bought. Their story stole my heart and I instantly fell in love with both of them. Jayme did, too. They are so puttogether, yet easy to be around. They are the type of couple that you just want to sit on the patio and talk with for hours. We learned that they were moving from the total opposite side of the Twin Cities, from a home they had lived in for many years. That home was perfect. It had recently been renovated and they took great pride in taking care of it. As they showed us photos of that home, we were able to see that it was beautiful. The Missus went on to explain that they weren’t exactly planning to move. It just happened that

>> What was once an awkward room right off the kitchen was reconfigured into a hardworking pantry/laundry with a stacking washer and dryer and a utility sink. I love the vintage dresser from Farmhouse Revival (Delano, Minnesota) that offers surface area and storage with a sun-worn look to go with the lake home theme. It brings so much character to this unexpected space and is still one of my favorite parts of the renovation. The shelves and brackets above the dresser were made by our team. And I added a faux brick wall covering painted Benjamin Moore’s Super White for texture. The pendant light is an Amazon find. The door to the room is salvaged. We painted it, frosted the glass, and applied a glass sticker from Etsy. New hardwood flooring throughout the main level, including in the new pantry/ laundry, is 6-inch white oak finished with a matte-finish, water-based polyurethane.

even more and even asked if we could be adopted into their family—we want to have fun on the lake, too!

they had visited some friends out this way and, through a friend-of-a-friend connection, learned of a home on the lake that was about to go up for sale, and the owners needed to sell quickly. I almost spit the water from my mouth when the Missus explained that the Mister went and looked at the house and bought it on the spot. Holy moly, Batman! He did what?! Yes, that was her reaction too.

The Missus was really struggling with the move. She said the house just didn’t feel like home. These are the words that usually catapult my heart and creative brain into motion. I love transforming houses into homes! I was confident I could turn her chaos into beauty and create a home she loved and would love to be in. Jayme and I felt like we already knew them and could nail their style. Instantly, I imagined an East Coast flair to casually play on the lake-home lifestyle. With that, I saw a generous dash of sophistication paired with warm and homey comfort, just like the couple themselves.

This is when the Mister spoke up and plead his case. With great passion, he explained that their children were all grown and they had a brood of beautiful grand-babes. The first time he visited the house, all he could see was what the lake lifestyle could bring to his family. He did not see all the repairs required or the renovations that might be needed. He just saw his kids and his grandkids coming to stay for long weekends. He saw them building precious memories together boating, grilling up summer dinners, and staying up late gathered around roaring bonfires. He also saw breakfast with his beautiful wife as they enjoyed the sun rising over still waters. Sure, their other home was perfect, but this one brought dreams of family connection.

As the design developed further, we named their project {Hamptons-Style Lake Home}. The waterfront theme was cemented by a mix of coastal colors like white and navy with the warmth of white oak. The kitchen is exquisite with a combination of Carrara marble and brass accents. My favorite transformation, though, is their entry—it became such a sweet spot to display photos of the precious family moments their new home provides. Both the Mister and the Missus are overjoyed with the renovation. Every so often, I still get text messages from the Missus exclaiming how much she loves her home and how it continues to bring so much joy to her family because it’s where they connect.

I could see the Missus’ eyes soften as he illustrated what was also in her heart. They were now empty nesters, but she did not want her nest to be empty. She wanted her babes to return, with their own baby birdies in tow, to continue making beautiful family memories. Jayme and I fell in love with them 31

Hamptons-Style Lake Home

Paint Colors

This 2,720-square-foot, split-level lake home built in 1985 required many repairs and needed to comply with current building codes. The kitchen layout was not conducive to entertaining and an awkward wall between the dining and family rooms left the kitchen and dining spaces with no views at all. Removing that wall created a great room that soaks up watery vistas and abundant sunshine through the dramatic wall of lakefront windows.

Summer Cleaning Tips BY CLEAN MAMA

Speed Clean Your Kitchen Getting in and out of the kitchen quickly is key in the summer! Simple meals, less oven time, and a lighter fare. It’s the perfect time to try my Speed Cleaning the Kitchen method! Click the circle on the right to grab my free checklist!

1. GATHER YOUR TOOLS Keep your favorite kitchen cleaning tools and cleaners in a caddy under the kitchen sink so you can grab them and clean anytime. My musthave kitchen caddy tools? Kitchen sink scrub, scrub brush, all-purpose cleaner, disinfecting cleaner, stainless steel cleaner, microfiber cloths, bar mop towels, sponge, and dish soap

2. SET A TIMER Setting a timer is a great way to motivate to clean quickly. Eliminate any distractions, set a timer for 15 minutes and see how much you can get done. 35

Click Here to Grab Free Printable

3. QUICK DECLUTTER Start by collecting anything on the counters and kitchen table. Don’t take the time to put these things away right now, but put them out of the kitchen for right now.

4. UNLOAD / LOAD THE DISHWASHER Did you know that it only takes 3-4 minutes to unload a dishwasher and put the dishes away? Don’t procrastinate on this one – just put the dishes away! If you have dishes on the counter or sink, load them in the empty dishwasher.

5. CLEAN THE SINK Give your sink a little scrub and get it ready for the next day – you’ll be amazed how this simple task can propel your kitchen cleanliness.

6. WIPE SURFACES Spray down any hard surfaces (counters, kitchen table) and wipe clean with a cloth. Wiping down counters and cleaning sinks is on my daily routine so this is fairly simple.

7. PUT OUT FRESH TOWELS

8. QUICK VACUUM

Don’t underestimate the clean look of fresh towels. Replace your kitchen towels with clean towels as you’re making one last look around the kitchen.

If your floors need to be vacuumed, concentrate on high traffic areas, corners, and visible dirt.

36

GATHER YOUR INGREDIENTS: • • • • •

2 cups of baking soda 10 drops lemon essential oil 10 drops clove essential oil castile or dish soap container with a lid or a shaker top • sink safe scrub brush or sponge – look for one that you can toss the head in the dishwasher to sanitize as needed

MIX IT UP:

DIY Nightly Sink Scrub My favorite DIY recipe is also my favorite nightly ritual – the Nightly Sink Scrub. This little recipe will change your evening kitchen routine for the better. The best thing? It works on ANY sink type! Porcelain, stainless steel, acrylic, copper, stone, solid surface – scrub away! The premise is that every night we reset the kitchen, put the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe up the counters and finally sprinkle a little sink scrub in the sink, add a squirt or two of dish soap and give the sink a good scrub and rinse. This recipe also works as an all-purpose bathroom scrub – use it on sinks, faucets, tubs and showers. If you have a white sink or tub, add a little Oxygen Whitener to surface with the powder, scrub and rinse. 37

• put baking soda in your container - I like using a mason jar • add essential oils to the top of the baking soda • stir and combine with a table knife • wet your sink • sprinkle liberally in your sink • add a squirt or two of dish or castile soap • scrub with a sink-safe scrubber • rinse thoroughly • dry with a cleaning cloth or air dry

REPEAT NIGHTLY!

Q & A WITH TESS + TRICIA Based in Excelsior, Minn., this incredible mother/daughter duo has created a company that not only sells exquisite jewelry, but was designed to give back.

HOW DID TESS + TRICIA START? We started in Tricia’s sunroom at her house with some crafty bracelets and a few necklaces! We literally walked into a local excelsior store with a basket of jewelry and asked if they were interested in purchasing and to our surprise, they said yes! Traction really picked up locally with that store and soon we were attending lots of different local market events and selling our pieces to a few other local accounts. Our big break was when we got into all doors of CorePower Yoga, it was our first big purchase order and we sold about 300-400 units of 6 styles. We had a small team so we worked all day and night to make everything by hand since we weren’t going to ever say no to that! We even brought in some exercise equipment so that we could take breaks to help keep us sane! lol. From there, we branched out to many larger accounts and now have representation in stores like Nordstrom, Free People, Anthropologie, Express, Rocksbox, Evereve, Von Maur, Wantable and more. 43

WH ICH J EWELRY PIECE IS ON YOUR MUST-WEAR LIST TH IS SUMMER? Definitely our Bloom Collection! We just launched an extremely unique collection of pieces that highlight botanical elements in each charm. This line has been extremely successful given the times and really shows that there is room in even the darkest of times to bloom :) 44

WHAT IS IT LIKE WORKING AS A MOTH ER-DAUGHTER DUO? Tricia is the numbers brain, and I am the creative brain so we have a really great balance. The bottom line we always function under the core values of the family so we always treat each other with love and respect. Working with your family has the comfort of family in your workspace which is not always common! If there is ever something we don’t agree on, it is always dropped because no business disagreement is ever worth upsetting your family relationship.

YOUR BRAND HAS SO MUCH H EART! CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR “NOMINATE OUR H EROES” GIVEAWAY? We wanted to connect our community of social media followers to share all the heroes they have in their lives to bring some positivity during this crazy time. We asked our followers to tag their heroes: teachers, mail people, police officers, nurses, etc. to give them a chance to win a cute set of jewelry from us. We were blown away by how many people were tagged and read the responses of how hard these heroes were working to keep us safe that we couldn’t pick one winner- we picked them all! We sent out 30 boxes of $65 valued jewelry along with a handwritten “thank you” note, and a bag of cookies!

“WE ALWAYS TREAT EACH OTH ER WITH LOVE AND RESPECT.” 45

f o d i a r f a e b r e v e t ’ on D . r e v l i s d n a d l o g g n i x i m CAN YOU GIVE US THRE E TIPS FOR STYLING AND LAYERING NECKLACES?

D O YOU HAVE A NEW COLLECTI ON COMING SO ON?

We are working on coming out with a few hair accessories and possibly some fun summer capsule pieces (new huggie earrings and carded necklaces) We will also be releasing a collection around patriotism to really boost awareness that we are and always will be American Made!

1. Pick a “layer friendly” neckline! I love a button-down for summer, something pretty and light. These kinds of tops give you an opportunity to layer very long pieces with very short pieces on the skin!

2. MIX METALS Layers always look best when layered right on the chest- and don’t ever be afraid of mixing gold AND silver!

WH ERE CAN WE FIND YOUR J EWELRY? Always online as well as multiple [local Minnesota] stores like Patina, Merilou, Equation, Roe Wolf etc.

3. LAYER STYLES I like to always do two layers, one with charm and one with a simple chain!

The Power of Human Connection & Relationship B Y D R . S UZ Y YO UN GQU I ST

On a cold and gray November morning, I pulled out of my driveway, leaving the chaos of home behind me—yet completely drained and unsure of how I would make it through my work day. I had come through an intense season of relocating my clinic of over 10 years, which meant moving several hundred patients and staff to a new location. My husband and I worked back to back through this process, he functioned as a project manager of the new site we were creating as this healing hub. I steered the helm of the in-office operations and worked to maintain optimistic culture among the staff and patients as we prepared to move. Simultaneously as the move approached, my team had been planning to host a Pediatric and Teen Health Conference, with several hundred in attendance and an expert panel that would bring massive hope and solutions to families. In this season, my office manager, who was also a lifelong friend, left my team and my life. There had been signs her time was coming to 47

shift onward, but I couldn’t imagine the shift happening at such a critical time. God’s sovereign hand brought a previous team-mate into this empty role within days. We made our epic relocation in mid October. Within weeks, we hosted the Pediatric and Teen Conference, with nearly 600 in attendance, it was our largest public gathering to date. Both of these events had incredible outcomes and exemplified the power of teamwork. Yet, in the weeks to follow these milestones in my life, I experienced emotional exhaustion at a new level. I had nothing left to give. I wasn’t the mom, wife, team member, or woman I knew I was meant to be. On this November morning, I knew I needed to plug into my Lifeline. I turned away from my office and parked myself outside of an empty golf course.

I bundled up and began walking the paths of this barren course. It’s all I knew to do. As I walked, I felt my lungs inhale and exhale the cold, brisk air. I could breathe. I could walk. As I continued walking, tears began to flow. This was the most restorative and recharged I had felt in months. I was coming back to life. I could feel

I can say amidst social isolation, God has done a new, deep work in my family and continues to show us the purpose for marriage and family. It is beautiful, profound, powerful, and at its best—world changing. - DR. SUZY

it, down deep, there I was bubbling up. I felt God impress on my heart a new respect and healthy fear for something He created us for: Relationship.

and children. I can say amidst social isolation, God has done a new, deep work in my family and continues to show us the purpose for marriage and family. It is beautiful, profound, powerful, and at its best—world changing. In the weeks to come, I knew In Rebekah Lyons recent work, Rhythms of Renewal, she I had a new commission. It was to tend to and pursue emphasizes input rhythms that the closest God-given precede output rhythms. Rest and relationships in my life, restoration precede connection and the ability to create. This wisdom starting with my husband

has guided me in knowing I am best at connecting with my loved ones when I have tended to my God given design for rest and restoration. May your heart be steered to a place of great value and emphasis on each other, and in active pursuit of the precious bonds this world can so easily drown out. I bless you and your family as you navigate these

times, and declare over you a verse we have clung to in these days: “What the enemy meant for harm, God will use to our advantage…” (Gen 50:20). You will come out of this stronger, with deeper roots that allow you to withstand wind and waves of adversity. The health benefits of positive relationships and human connection are absolutely profound and well documented. The Blue Zones study is one of my all time favorites. It showcases the lifestyle traits of modern day longest lived people. These cultures throughout the earth, the “blue zones”, put loved ones first, belong to tribes that embrace each other, and share in worship together. Every blue zone

culture represents people of faith. Are there health benefits to praying, worshipping, fasting, and fellowshipping together? 100% YES! We are designed for connection. The psychological benefits of connection show less risk for anxiety, depression, and mortality overall. Research clearly indicates improved immune function, speedier recoveries, less risk for anxiety, depression, and increased lifespan among those who have healthy and positive close relationships. How about physical touch? That could be an entire article on its own. We are humans, designed for physical touch. Our immune systems rely upon physical interaction to properly develop and protect us from pathogens. Our skin is made of millions of microbial cells that are stimulated by contact with the world and

people around us. Isolation weakens these innate functions. Isolation is not the answer. So, as you move into the season ahead, remember you were made for human connection and social interaction! Do not fear it! It will be wise to tend to your own rest, nest, and restorative rhythms to sustain you. Then move out of your nest to bring hope and change to this world and nation we are living in. We need you. We are in this, together.
