Adhesive: (Hard Set Adhesive Fixed Method)

• It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to select the appropriate glue to be used for installation.

• Read carefully the adhesive manufacturers instructions and make sure it is suitable to be used.

• If you are satisfied with the glue chosen, follow the instructions carefully.

Site conditions must be considered when choosing the appropriate glue and installation method.

Vinyl Plank Flooring Can Be Used In:

• Residential & light traffic commercial indoor use only.

• Vinyl Plank Flooring can be installed where there is underfloor heating. Underfloor heating should be switched off for 48 hours before, and should not be switched back on until 48 hours after installation. It is recommended that the heating is slowly re-applied to return it to the required operating temperature. This warranty will not cover any issues caused by underfloor heating.

• This product is not recommended to be used in wet areas such as laundries, bathrooms, toilets or a shower recess. This product can be used in kitchens and living areas.

Floor Preparation:

• Suitability of sub-floors and site conditions must be assessed prior to beginning an installation to ensure that they are in accordance with national standards. Please follow the guidelines set out in Australian Building Regulations, AS 1884-2021

Pre-installation of Vinyl Plank Flooring:

• Vinyl Plank Flooring is manufactured to a high standard in terms of quality, stability and accuracy.

• It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to examine each plank carefully to make sure there are no visible defects in the planks.

• Defective product should be removed and not installed. Notify the seller of any defective product immediately.

Handy tips to assist installation:

Storage:

• Delivery of boxes should be made 24 to 48 hours prior to installation.

• Boxes should be stored in a cool dry location (approximately 18-27° degrees celsius).

• Boxes should be stored on a flat surface.

• Do not stack boxes too high.

• Do not store or sit boxes vertically (up against a wall or similar).

Acclimation:

• Boxes should be removed from pallets, opened and separated from one another as part of the acclimatisation process. Product adhesive and sub-floor must be allowed to stabilise to a constant temperature between 18°C-27°C for a period of at least 24 hours before, during and after installation.

• Vinyl planks will / try to expand and shrink with changing climate conditions. Expansion and or shrinkage of the planks is not considered a defect. The amount of expansion or shrinkage of the planks is a result of conditions. There is no minimum or maximum expansion or shrinkage.

Substrate:

• Vinyl Plank Flooring can be installed over concrete, plywood, hardboard, masonite, cement sheeting, tiles, stone, terrazzo or cork.

• Chipboard, particle board (such as yellow tongue) is not a suitable underlayment.

• Make sure the substrate is dry, flat (3mm over 3m is recommended), free of any contaminates, free of any other obstacles. Sub-floors must be thoroughly mechanically cleaned of all paint, curing agents, grease, wax and any other foreign matter. The use of solvents to remove surface contaminants is not permitted.

• Make sure that the substrate is solid and secure.

Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Guide

Handy tips to assist installation:

• Make sure you select the appropriate glue for installation on the substrate.

• Most solid sub-floors will require an application of a levelling compound to provide a hard, smooth and level surface to which adhesive and planks can be applied.

Concrete:

• Make sure the concrete substrate is dry (<2.5% moisture content is recommended).

• Make sure the concrete substrate is flat (3mm over 3m is recommended). A levelling compound can be applied.

• Make sure you apply an appropriate moisture sealer.

• Make sure your moisture sealer and glue are compatible for use together.

• Expansion joints are incorporated into concrete floor slabs in order to permit movement without causing cracks to form. These joints should not be filled with smoothing compound or overlaid with floor coverings. In all cases they should be mirrored through to the surface.

Tiles:

• Make sure the tiles are secure.

• Grout lines should / must be filled with suitable filler. It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to make sure the substrate and glue used are suitable for the installation of this product.

Timber:

• Timber floorboards, plywood, hardboard overlays.

• The timber substrate must be dry (<14% moisture content is recommended).

• Levelling may be required. If necessary, floorboards should be planed or use appropriate levelling compound.

• Make sure you use the appropriate glue.

• Do not adhere directly to chipboard or particleboard sub-floors, whether they are free floating or fixed. Floors should always be overlaid with plywood or hardboard (5.5mm minimum) prior to installation

Glue:

• Use a good quality permanent hard set glue. Use a glue with moisture resistant barrier.

• Only spread sufficient adhesive that can be covered within the recommended working time. Flooring should be rolled with a 45kg (100lbs) roller after laying and before the adhesive sets – timing will depend on site conditions and adhesive selection.

• Varied climate conditions on site may / will cause the planks to expand or shrink, therefore a good quality glue and installation process is essential.

Starting:

• Make sure the planks are installed in a straight line. Do not use a wall as a guide as it may not be straight.

• Make sure you measure the room and cut the planks to the lengths that best suit the room size. Try not to leave very small planks at ends of rooms.

• Plan the installation and layout of planks.

• Install the planks in brick style pattern (staggered joints)

• Staggered joints should be approximately 300mm apart for best visual effect.

Tools:

• 2-3m straight edge, chalk line, string line, commercial grade cutting knife, square, tape measure, hand roller, double sided tape.

Tips:

• Use a good quality knife with solid blade. Cut away from yourself. Mark the face of the plank. Cut / score the face of the plank.

• Use personal protective equipment (ears, nose, mouth and eyes) as needed. Use knee protection.

• Ensure the site is suitably ventilated.

• Ensure there is adequate light to perform the installation.

It is the responsibility of the owner / installer to ensure that all site safety rules are followed when performing the installation.
