1956 Our deepest sympathy to Carol Hart Keck on the passing of her dearest fiancé and best friend Michael Johns. Suzie Baird Fitgerald ’56 & Sheila Dunn Burke came to town recently. Several classmates from the Beaumont class of 1956 had lunch at Hecks Restaurant. Mary Anne Corlett Rotatori, Rosemarie Miceli Surace, Janet Neff Newsome, Dolores McDonnell Ritt, Peggy Conway McMullen, Marianne Rocco Walton, Diane Junglas Richardson, & Patricia Westropp. It was a special treat for this class to get together to celebrate their 65-year-old friendship!
Maria Schrembri Turk advises that the week before the holiday, her daughter Susan and her husband came in from New Jersey, and joined her family here, for a great get-together. We hear that Sara Gill Cutting spent the holiday busy making dinner and entertaining her large family. They really enjoyed their time together. Sara is also busy as a trustee emeritus at her alma mater, Seton Hill University, as she was a trustee there for 12 years. Pattie Minello Kirchner tells us that although she has loved living her whole life on the East side, when she moved to Avon Lake last year to be near her two daughters, she found that she liked it there too. The holiday was enjoyed at her daughter’s house where the family had a great time. Sister Martha Mooney informs us that her sister-in-law, Renee Peterson Mooney, who lives in Florida, will be coming to Cleveland in June, for a few months.
1958 Members of the class of ’58 got together in April following the eclipse to gather for a luncheon. Those who attended were Mary O’Boyle, Carol Dowling Gallucci, Sara Gill Cutting, Patti Minello Kirchner, Martha Mooney, Sue Kurtz Cavanaugh and Mary Jo Abraham Antoon. Recently, with Memorial Day, many classmates celebrated the day with family and friends. We hear from Peggy Opasker, that she and her four sisters and their husbands and families met together for the holiday and had an enjoyable time. 1
We hear from Carol Dowling Gallucci, that in the first week of June, her 5 children, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, will be gathering for a family event, and she is really looking forward to it. Mary Jo Abraham Antoon spent part of Memorial Day at the University Hts. parade with her family, and the grandkids had an especially fun time.
1964 Constance Hughes Brady husband, Francis J. Brady, passed away on August 19th, 2023. Francis was also the brotherin-law of Suzanne Hughes Rydel ’63,
Mary Alice Hughes Jones ’68, and Nancy Hughes Wallace ’71.
1972 Pat Connelly Dubiel and husband Phil traveled to Rome, Italy, in April with their 13-year-old twin grandsons. They went to St. Peter’s Basilica for Sunday Mass and were surprised when asked to bring up the gifts. They were seated in the front row with an amazing view. A Cardinal said the Mass with 50 priests and a beautiful choir. It was an honor of a lifetime! Tommy came home to an appendicitis, but he is doing great after surgery. Maryellen Amato, now retired from her busy nuclear radiology practice, continues to enjoy working part-time as a certified Spiritual Director. She meets in person via FaceTime on iPhone, and there is no charge for Beaumont alums. She can be reached by email at meamato76@gmail.com if you would like to schedule a meeting with her. Maryellen’s sister, Patricia Amato, MD ’75 just returned from Lourdes where she worked as a pediatrician-volunteer with children and parents seeking Mary’s intercession. Maryellen and her husband celebrated her birthday with their Southern Atlantic States Tour with USA Tours. They visited Charleston, Savannah, Tybee Island, Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Memphis and Montgomery, just to name a few! Mary Beth Walton Guzzo’s sister Susan Dickie '69 and her husband are in the process of buying a home in Cleveland and are hoping to have it finalized in July. Four out of six Waltons have returned to the Cleveland nest! Mary Beth’s mom turned 100 in March. They celebrated
